It wouldn"t be in keeping with the relatively competitive nature of this tournament to have celebrity or "B" team options.

No reason why they wouldn"t be competitive, did anyone see the old late night poker celebs series? Not keen on 1 single B Team though as that could lead to other problems e.g which country?

Any resolution to this yet or will it just run with 15 13 teams?

We"ll be running with 13 teams.

I"m just working on the structure and points to ensure all teams are on a level playing field as to potential points they can earn when we rounds of sit n gos that are unbalanced.

Very pleased that an MTT is being included this time.

Not pleased that the players who give up their chance to play in two side events don"t receive any points for the Player of the Series or Player of the Year.

Team Event - Points Allocations

Day One

2:30pm 3 x 8 handed, 4 x 7 handed NLHE STT   (1st=7pts, 2nd=6pts........7th=1pt, 8th=0pts)
5:30pm 3 x 8 handed, 4 x 7 handed PLO STT   (1st=7pts, 2nd=6pts........7th=1pt, 8th=0pts)
9:00pm 39 x HU Matches - 6 per team   (1st=4pts, 2nd=0pts)

Total points allocated for Day 1 = 548
Maximum Team points for Day 1 = 80

Day Two

2:30pm 3 x 8 handed, 4 x 7 handed NLHE STT   (1st=7pts, 2nd=6pts........7th=1pt, 8th=0pts)
6:00pm 52 Runner MTT    (1st=26pts, 2nd=25pts........25th=2pts, 26th=1pt)

Total points allocated for Day 2 = 547
Maximum Team points for Day 2 = 126

Notes

Due to the 13 teams, we will be running a number of 7 handed STT"s.  Points for those tables will be exactly the same as the 8 handed ones, without an 8th place getting 0pts.

The MTT will only alllocate points to the top 26 finishers (50% of the field).  We will run hand for hand at 27 (3 tables of 9 players)

Far be it from me to admit that John has a point but could this be addressed by allocating points for 1st to 18th for the overall points scorers in the team event over the 2 days or 1st to 9th for the combined HU & STTs then 1st to 9th again for the MTT.

The overall field size is similar to the 2 x side events over this 2 day period so seems quite fair.

I am not in the team event and in both of the sides so my proposal is actually a disadvantage to myself - altruism & fair play ftw*

*What is the actual prize for POTY. If it"s all expenses to next year"s WSOP Main Event, then everything I"ve said above is nonsense and should be ignored  ;)

No Player of the Series points will be awarded to the Team Event.

The Team Event is an invitational event where players get to represent their country and compete against teams travelling from all over the world.

Any player fortunate enough to be invited to play by a selected captain, unfortunately misses out on two of the other side events.

The prize for Player of the Series this year is a £150 seat into a DTD event.

I was asking about the Player of the Year prize Leigh. Can you clarify?

I should have added "So there".   ;D

I don"t wish to come across so blunt on the discussion, but I very much fall into the camp of "It is an honour to be asked to play for your country, and if you would rather play the two side events to try an earn extra Player of the Series / Year ranking points, then you can always decline the invite, as I"m sure there would be a queue of other players wanting the opportunity to put on the shirt"

As for the Player of the Year prize, I will have to get clarification on that from Des, or you could ask him at DTD, as he"ll be there all week.

What are the prizes for the team event, if there are any? Also agree with the oversized Welsh one when it comes to player of the year, the honour of representing my country is far more important :)

i agree playing for your country does have a nice ring to it and thats why i gave up my seats to both side events on the relevant days, however winning the player of the series  knowing that 52 other players couldnt compete kinda dulls the tune.
thats poker folks ;). GOOD LUCK TO ALL
