APAT'ers running the Great North Run
« on: August 04, 2011, 12:27:49 PM »
I promised myself that last year would be the last ever year I ran the stupid thing.. but I"ve had my arm twisted by not one by two of the Stockton Massive to run the Great North half marathon this year.

Running for anyone that knows us is

Gary Palmer
Mark Wright
and me

All in fancy dress.. with varied amounts of training being performed. Fancy dress being debated at the moment although my suggestion of a horse hasnt gone down well....

I will not however be running as Mr Potato Head this year as that went very badly wrong when it decided to rain very heavily in the closing miles causing major wardrobe malfunction  :-\

This was before the race in happier times :)

I know times are tough at the moment but if you have any spare change we"re all running for the same charity which is a local hospice through Gary Palmer"s page which is http://www.justgiving.com/garypalmergnr

If not wish us all the best on the 18th of September. Not long now. Should be fun. I hope. I really should start training....

I assumed boozing in Glasgow was enough.

Now I"m not sure if this shows how much you consumed up there Paulie... but I couldn"t make Glasgow mate.

Hope nobody minds me bumping our begging thread back to the top of the board.
Anyone who knows me, Phil or Mark - or even generous souls who don"t know us but would like to support a good cause - please take a look at the following links:

http://www.justgiving.com/garypalmergnr
or
http://www.justgiving.com/markwright001

We"re trying to raise money for the Butterwick - a local hospice that all 3 of us support.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated (and even though I don"t really want to run in fancy dress, I"ve promised that I will if I can hit my £500 target).  So please take a look.

Thanks x

Just sending everyone who supported us via here, facebook, text, phone, just giving sponsorship, personal sponsorship etc etc a massive thank you from Gary, Mark and myself. Between us we managed to raise just under (at current count) £1,000 for the hospice which is amazing.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

For those interested in running times...

Mark Wright (1st great north run) : 1 hour 59 mins
Gary Palmer (1st great north run) : 2 hours 11 mins

Both amazing achievements and I know they"re both very chuffed and so they should be.

Me (9th great north run)  : I got round*

Thanks again from me and the guys. Really appreciated x

*would of been slightly quicker if I hadnt stopped off at the pub with a mile to go for a swift half with a friend who"d got me one in who I hadnt seen for years... was only a half though promise. I"m an athlete  ;D
