Luckboxed into a $2 mtt final....4 left from 900....

Blinds 10k/20k..2k ante...

We are utg...and dealt AQs...our stack is 650k..bb is next closest at 500k..other two have around 300k.

We raise to 60k...button fokds,sb folds..bb shoves..

Read on bb is...that he is capable and aggressive,he folded to a 4 bet from me earlier...

Call or fold..why?

To me he"s either got AK minimum to a big pair and wants you to call
You have still got plenty of chips so in this spot not worth the risk
But what do I know lol

4 handed, I aren"t folding AQ here unless I am absolutely pillaging the table in other spots

I originally wrote that this was a snap call 4 handed, deep in the money, as people will re-shove with much less than AQ.

However, then I looked at Pokerstove, and assuming that the re-shove range is something like 22+,A8s+,KJs+,ATo+,KQo, we only have just over 50% equity. If we feel we have any edge over the remaining three players, then calling it off here when racing is probably not the best.

Against one of the two shorter stacks, it would be a more likely call.

So I ran the clock right down....not enough time to think things through fully....I felt I was the better player of the 4.....n this would have been a reason to fold in itself....then it came to me,he,s making a move....I have him dominated...he,s making a move with aj or worse....if I call here I"m in great shape...its AQ....let"s go..I click call...he has tens...I brick....n out shortly after....trying not to be results orientated...I think I"m happy with the call though......maybe it was unavoidable....

Just a few observations:

I would make my opening raise size smaller because I will be raising a tonne 4 handed, so I lose less when having to fold. Maybe even minraising
That pokerstove range is ok but I would lean towards calling because the superstrong end of that range he is less likely to jam and will be tempted in small 3bet to discourage you folding, say QQ+
All of this will be dependent on player reads, which you should have some idea of being down to 4 handed.
You are still in it if you lose and should crush the comp if you win

good point - tried cutting the top end off the range and made it JJ-22,A9s+,KJs+,ATo+,KQo...... and AQ still only has 55%

Raise smaller pre....no need to 3x it 4 handed with a hand as big as AQ. call the shove

raise a bit smaller pre, no more than 2.5x and probably just a 2x. Even If I felt I was killing the table I wouldn"t pass to the shove here

Preflop raise x 3 is horrible. Somewhere between 2 and 2.25 IMO

I think the fact that he has shoved on your x3 pre is a measure of his confidence. Think I"d fold and castigate myself for going x3.
