Obviously the die hards are attending the competition in Ireland this weekend.

Any APAT"ers playing in the Star City comp in Brum?

After last years upstairs downstairs debacle where downstairs (no clock only an "update" whiteboard) played half a level at a blind level above upstairs despite protestations to the TD"s that it was wrong and having them tell us it wasn"t only for them to apologise 15 mins later but do nothing to recompense it.......I decided to give this crapshoot a miss.

They have stated that last years debacle will not be occuring this year, plus they have added extra levels with a 45 mins clock throughout. This should leave a better contest without the need for a crapshoot.

In which case very best of luck Chris and to all other APATers playing. At least they have listened.

If the reports are OK I"ll have a go at this next year, as £10,000 added is damn good value.

I will give it a miss this year but if Andy"s playing next year then I might not be able resist that extra value.  ;)

Suzanne Hayward sandwiched between Barny Boatman and Chaz Chatta, also on her table Jon Seal and Jeff Kimber....wow! My brother has Joe Beevers on his immediate left and LBPN regular Steve Wiggins has Karl Marenholtz to contend with! Should be great fun, goodluck to all.

Well that was a tough tourney!! Had Praz on my starting table, and taking him off a pot with triple barrell bluff early on was the highlight of my day. After that, it was all downhill.  Raised into the short-stacked Dave Scothern with 89s, and found myself having to spew call his shove and losing.  Ended up donking the rest to Paul Jackson when I shoved over his raise, and he couldn"t find a fold with AA.

A heck of a lot of well known faces around, and a decent structure in a very well run card room - it was all good.

One point of note that I really did appreciate - I raised out of turn early on (guy on my right had his hands over his cards and I thought he had folded - I got a warning with a one round penalty to follow next time).... shortly after, a guy folded out of turn (was an irrelevant fold in the scheme of things), and got an immediate two hand penalty. Anyone who left the table and effectively folded out of turn, received a two hand penalty when they returned..    was good to see rules applied strictly and properly.

It was curious to see that players were allowed to use mobile phones at the feature table - especially as the outside world could see the hole cards of current and previous hands. I"m not suggesting any impropriety but it just struck me as odd.

They were not allowed - however, this seemed to a rule that was not enforced.

The guy between me and Dave was a OneWayPoker player, and he was having a text conversation with Roberto Romanello about hands that were played 15 minutes ago (there was a 15 min delay on transmission).
