Firstly a massive thanks to Des and Rich for organising and running a top top event. Having never previously played for a team that has been in contention for this title, I got to see first hand how difficult it was for them to keep up with the exits and making sure the scoring for the team event was carried out correctly, so well done guys and massive thanks.
Was really pleased to play for and captain GNF, having been a member of the forum for 5 years now. I played for them in the first APAT team championship where we finished second last. We were not invited to the second one and with that in mind I opted to play for Blonde last year and was not involved in their medal finish last year. This year I was asked to skipper them so snapped up the offer. To then go on and win the thing was an awesome experience.
I was really proud of how well everyone played for the team, passing up a lot of spots that would help them individually to help preserve our tournament. Their support from the rail as the three of us ran deeper and deeper was much appreciated and we were euphoric once we sealed the win.
I would like to apologise to some players whose exits were met with a bit of antirailing celebration. I did feel a bit bad and apologised but anyone who has played with me before knows that I generally conduct myself properly and was only celebrating for my team.
I would also like to apolgise for continually rubbing down my team mate Iain Wilson who is a massive Man Utd fan and had to put up with me passing messages along the lines of "I know you are getting stuffed by the mighty city - but please keep focussed on the job in hand"
With the team winning the comp and City completely shredding Utd in the derby, it was a miracle that I made the final table, but that was the end of my run good. I was completely card dead and more importantly spot dead. With more patience I could have run further on the final but made a very poor move that was suitably punished by Ian T who went on to finish second (great run mate and ul on not winning)
Great to meet up with everyone again and am looking forward to defending the title next season (in blackpool please!!!)
