Well done guys, I can appreciate how hard it is to sort out events and I for one should be able to make the local Rendezvous event in January but not Manchester, SWMBO will just about let me do the Worlds next year and the team events but not the rest...... I unfortunately am more or less grounded due to the photo"s Tompkyfish posted  ;D

See you in Jan in Brighton

Well I"m over the moon with the Brighton venue for January. The fact is that most APAT venues are normally held in the midlands or up north so this is a real treat for us Southerners to have a local one.

A big, big thank you to Des and Tighty for this. Thank you, thank you, thank you  ;D ;D ;D ;D

+1, thx guys/girls.

There is only one "G Casino - Manchester" (although others might have similar names)....we"ve been there before

WP on sorting out some live APAT poker since it would have been dead to most till about March otherwise.

I"m disappointed about the 33% increase to the buy-in for Manchester. It ceases to make the World Champ at DTD a special event IMO (although you might up that too!). London was not an event me and debjani were planning to go to, so the unplanned cost to attend MCR will be around £400-£500 for us just before xmas - the increased buy-in is just an extra punch in the stomach! Doesn"t mean we won"t be there, but I"m pretty sure we won"t go to both. So in working out whether a £100 buy in is a success you should certainly consider the effect that one event might have on the other. Also you should think about the cost that £100 per event across the whole season would entail should such a model be adopted in the future. It probably won"t make a great deal of difference to your numbers, but you might find yourself with a different target audience.

Also disappointed about yet more Omaha events on day 2 but I understand that the demand is there so that"s a "like it or lump it" one for us two. Don"t understand why you"ve also upped the buy in for that in MCR. Although I can"t play Omaha, I"d happily toss my hat in the ring for £25. But not at £50 it"s too much for a total beginner.

In summary I"d say that increasing the buy ins at MCR has made me think twice about attending both events, whereas otherwise I"d have probably just bought in to both. That might sound illogical to some, but there has to be a tipping point somewhere.

And again, just for the doubters, WP to Des & Tighty on sorting out some APAT poker I"m sure they will both be a roaring success.

The event in Manchester is basically what I want from an APAT tourney, looks perfect.

Can"t go though, moving house that weekend probs. Sigh
Looking forward to making my first day 2

On this one, without Tighty"s input, I would suggest that this is purely a function of what the G dealers are capable of.

It has been my experience that anything else will "Whoosh" as far as many UK dealers go (excepting of, course, DTD).

It"s that or more HE / 6-max side events which aren"t exactly varying the offerings from the standard fare being put on anywhere.

PLO8 might be just within some dealers capacities but, and I heard this more than once in Luton, the casino and dealers don"t like it because "it takes too long because of so many split pots".

You go with what you can get.

Actually, you would be surprised...if it doesn"t involve dealing 2 - 4 cards to each player and then a flop, turn, river...it throws a lot of so called "professional dealers" in the UK.

The mechanics of dealing 5 card draw (what to do with the stub, discards, how many cards can each player take, the protocols about information etc.) are more than most can handle.

Stud is well within the capacities of the dealers at Luton, yet still it was Omaha that was put on. We should at least try other disciplines at Casino"s that DO have the capability.

Whether we attend Brighton will depend on work.

Whether we attend Manchester will depend on how we run in Vegas...
