Some of you will know that APAT member Jon Woodfield (Jon MW) is competing at the Razz event at the WSOP, having won his place through an Inside Poker satellite.
At the end of day one, Jon is one of 130 players still remaining. He is in good company on 10700 chips, the same number as Annie Duke and 100 behind Marcel Luske.
Good luck later today Jon!
-
Yeh best of luck, quality game is razz, more to it than first appears
-
Good luck
Show the yanks how to play
Razz is becoming my best game (I love it) forget about holdem

Jon updated via his regular forum. The WSOP didn"t notice 2m extra chips in play at last year"s main event, I think Jon slipping through the net is hardly surprising! Keep an eye on the upates tonight and tomorrow morning....with any luck we will be seeing lots of him.
-
will b watchin the updates for a bit tonite and also to see if Hellmuth gets to number twelve... not to detract from Jons achievments tho
-
go on Mr Woodfield up to 31 k!!!
-
I just checked the updates I see Jon is sitting 2nd with 107,000 chips - excellent! - Any chance of a photo of him here so we can put a face to the name :)

Mary
-
I was just checking also... they have just re-drawn for the final two tables.
Well done Jon, keep it up.

To be second in chips when they broke down to two tables, ahead of the likes of Men "the Master" Nguyen and Paul "Eskimo" Clarke is exceptional and what an experience it must have been.
I think we have a hot favourite for the online series Razz event on August 8th :D
-
Great performance jon.
-
Not worthy!!!!

Brilliant performance - well done!
-
great effort! guess we know the scalp everyone will be gunning for in the APAT online razz event now ;D
-
Can I add my congratulations - what a rush that must have been. Not many can say they have gone that deep in a WSOP event. Well played.
-
I played to win, but missed 2 vital draws which decimated me - c"est la vie
Everybody should come to Vegas, it"s dead easy here. Seriously, I"m up at roulette, video poker, blackjack and poker - what do you have to do lose money in this town? ;D

lol - I went for shopping instead. This did mean quite a worried journey to the airport for my flight home. I had several things in carrier bags and I was working on the assumption that there would be at least one shop that sold suitcases or holdalls.
There was, but it didn"t open until 7.30 (not a problem my flight wasn"t until 11).
I had about 20 minutes to kill - this is where my lucky streak really gets silly. There were slots just outside this shop. 5 c slots - 5 lines, up to 20 coins a line. So, my best (still poor) odds of winning would be a maximum bet on each line, but I was only wasting time so instead of that $5 I went for the actual 5 c bets (1 coin,1 line).
With $2 in, it took about 15 minutes before I hit a couple of wins and cashed out for $11. So we can now add slots to the list of gambling methods which I made a profit on in Vegas ;D Which just about covers everything, that means - every type of gambling I participated in - I made a profit ??? madness I tell you.
Now if only my bets had been a thousand times higher to start with.

Well done on a very successful trip Jon. We look forward to seeing your "moves" on August 8th! You have to post a pic of why you are now being called "the British Cowboy" ;)

Great! The "Jen" being, top player Jennifer Harmon, who Jon eliminated from the event.

Funnily enough I did tell plenty of people that I couldn"t afford to go to any more live APAT events this season, but now I - er - now I can :D
Thanks for all the thanks to everybody.
-
Jon, I"ve not had the time to congratulate you on your outstanding performance in the Razz event, and in everything else apparantly.
You did so well, but I suppose you"ll be sufferrig with the old "so near so far" feelings.
but you played your beast game, and you will go on from here,as your game will show.
I"m glad to know you as a fellow player, and of course i"ll be first at the bar (in a long line) to help you spend some of your winnings at the next APAT.
n.b. left that beast typo in cos it seemed to fit!!!!!

lol - when I started reading I was getting all ready to reply to the "beast game" comment, then I get to the end and find you"ve beaten me to it

Brilliant photo. You have to wear the hat from now on whenever you play (including online).
Love it.
;D

;D
It"s my lucky Vegas hat - I"m only going to wear it for important events when I really need the extra luck. So APAT, blonde Bashes and EPT and WSOP events basically.
-
Sorry Jon, APAT is for amateurs not you high flying stetson wearing wsop professionals!!!!
Looking forward to seeing you (and the hat) soon.

:D Well obviously I have now had the same dilemma which Amir Khan faced - whether to renounce my amateur status and turn pro or not.
But despite Frank Warren constantly phoning me offering me million dollar deals to let him set up a Razz tournament in the UK for him to promote and me to front, I"ve said to him - "No, Frank. I"m not going to dilute the purity of my game for such crass commercialism. I"m holding on to my amateur status and carrying on playing purely for the love of the game and the intellectual challenge it entails".
He"s not a happy chappy now.
:D

Haha-- Well done Jon.... Did you get to kiss Jen? Or just shake hands.... I would of had to go for the kiss.......
Cant wait for the hat to come out at the next APAT event...
-
Fantastic result Jon....well done fella!
I have a hat very similar to yours, puchased in Idaho Falls at Christmas.......but unlike your good self.....I"ve never had the balls to wear it at a tournie over here! It may be the new "must have" accessory at the live APAT events ;D
-

Is it a genuine, "Made in Texas" hat - I think they"re the only ones that count :)

Funnily enough I barely noticed that I had knocked her out at the time (I am assuming that you"re talking about Jen Harman) so much so that I even thought that it had been reported wrongly when somebody mentioned it to me.
It was only after reading back the live tournament updates that I realised that the person next to me had decimated her stack (he"s the one I blamed for effectively knocking her out). The hand I actually knocked her out on, she happened to have stuck her last few chips in, but it was really another person originally in the pot that I was really playing against - that"s why it didn"t stick in my mind that I"d knocked her out I was thinking about having beaten this other person.
-
If you fancy writing up your Vegas experience Jon, I"m sure it would make very interesting reading for the members, and would give me a real good excuse to mail a picture of you in that hat to all of our players! Think of the adulation!!

How many words do you want? (roughly), what format do want it in? and when do want it by?
I know you could edit and could probably deal with any format I sent but I might as well make it as easy as possible for you. :)
-
Excellent. Completely up to you Jon, we can cope with any length (as long as you leave enough space for a pic of the "ten gallon" :D Preferred format would be Word, but again we can work with most.

pah! Californian.
You could try it but I think the "lucky" hats only come from Texas.
That"s why Doyle Brunson"s always done so well - some might say that there may be other factors involved in his success, but no, I"m pretty sure it"s all down to getting the right hat. :)

Has anyone told Andy Bloch lol ;D
-
I had a bit of a chat with Andy while I was there and I told him that I thought his hat was a bit rubbish.
Not all of that statement is true, I did talk to Mr Bloch when I was over there - but I didn"t tell him his hat was rubbish.
