-
as Tighty reported, Mark Lassman is OUT.
Spotting an opportunity for some "easy chips" (oh dear)....Mark reraised Steve Jay"s 750 pfr to 2,750, holding a pair of lovely ladies.
Jay called and a flop of Kc Kd Jd preceeded the ritual pushing of chips into the middle.
Jay"s Kh 2d was good however; Mark is still gasping, and the local man absorbed Lassman"s 16k into his now chipleading stack of 42k.

Martin Sieder raises and Brian Martin shoves for 27,000 more
Brian has been in three bet shove mode for quite a while, anxiously looking to maintain a playable stack and hopefully a double up

Good call, as Martin has 9-10
A-7 holds, Martin is out and Sieder goes over 90,000

Back home after a fun afternoon/evening in Brighton. Well done Tighty and Des for organising a good comp and well done to the entrants for making it an enjoyable experience.
-
The highlight of my day was twice folding pairs that became quads, once in the tournament and later playing Omaha cash. Even worse, Suzanne went all-in in the tournament after the quads hit.
Anyway, I have Ian Thompson in the Champions last-longer. Just need one more to fall to claim my prize. Come on Ian.

Scrub my second question ;D
-
Who"s playing the better poker at the table Tighty ?
Does JB have a chance of winning, or is he just hanging on in there ?
It"d better be Tony. I have 10%.
Which is a bad beat in itself. He asked before if we were to swap percentages - I suggested 10% of profits. Accepted.
Except he was going to suggest 20% of any cash.
FML.
-
Who"s playing the better poker at the table Tighty ?
4 handed
1.25m in play
All four have 300,000 or so with blinds at 6-12k
Brian Martin told me recently that Jonathan Walker was tremendous yesterday, very impressive player
Johnson has finalled an APAT before, and looks good
Mehta has been both aggressive and running well all day
Sherwood, steady and consistent
Any of the four would be a worthy winner.
as long as its quick.

Quick, it"s only just gone 7pm. What"s the hurry ? :-*

Mr Walker is a Team Solent player
Ms Sherwood is from Woking. Her second APAT after Cardiff last year. She"s heavily pregnant, by the way, with an anxious partner on the rail. Practicing his anxiety for a few months time

Does that mean there are 125 runners then and I get paid for 14th?
Great weekend, great organisation and excellent casino staff.

Clarification:
Tony attempts to steal SB v BB. Ms Sherwood calls (sorry, I can"t remember her first name :$)
Flop 953. Tony bets, gets shoved on. Tony calls. Turn bricks, river A.

Walker raises to 40,000 pre

A-4-2 rainbow
Sherwood 110,000
Walker raise to 250,000
Sherwood thinks she has a read, wants to shove her "massive pocket pair", eventually folds. She was pretty sure Walker didn"t have an Ace
We"ll never know, I suppose
Walker 900 plays Sherwood 300

-
Well done to all the medalists.
I forgot to say in my earlier post, I thought the staff were excellent this weekend. The Dealers were good at their job and personable too, the valets were pleasant and frequent and the valet parking was a nice touch.
One minor piece of feedback they may want to take on board; maybe at the carpark exit they should have some signage or indication that it"s a one way street? That way people are less likely to turn right and make prats of themselves :-[ ;)
-
Fun, Fab weekend as always.
Many thanks to Tighty, Des and the Rendez-vous.

Hello, Just home after a thoroughly enjoyable weekend with APAT. Des and Tighty completed an excellent job over the weekend, well done to the winner, she played well from what I saw but I was very impressed with Vik, sat with him for a long time over the second day. Player to watch...as is me of course.!
Thanks again and already looking forward to being there again. maybe even get another FT!

-
Thanks to the APAT team for another great event! Well done to Marie and the other medal winners.
I really enjoyed the cash tournie. Just wish I had come 11th and saved £100!
There seem to be lots of complementary comments about the casino. Perhaps we"ll be coming back here in S6?
Looking forward to S6! See you all then!
-
Well played Marie, and absolute pleasure to play with and one tough cookie indeed :)
-
Congratulations to Brian Martin who won the Cash Tour event. Brian travelled over from Krakow to defend his European Amateur title, which he failed to do despite progressing well through most of day one. Hopefully winning the first ever Cash Tour event will be a consolation. :)

John Murray - £169.
13 of the 32 entrants walked away with money.

Congrats Marie, Jon & Tony - all three medallists from the Solent region!
-
Looks like everybody had a great time, sorry I couldn"t make it :(
Congratulations to all who cashed and the 3 finalists :D
-
Congratulations to Marie, well played As Ah Ad Ac, and to all who cashed at the weekend.
Top job by Tighty and Des, and the cardroom staff also made the weekend smooth running.
Another top APAT weekend, and it was a pleasure to meet Santino and the rest of the Scotland crew, my jaw is aching from so much laughter on the SNG and tonight"s evening tourny. Vanilla and chocolate still making me chuckle.
Not a massively profitable weekend for me ... my results coming more from the arcades both days rather than the poker room ;D
Roll on Season Six

Hi Guys , just wanted to say I had a great weekend in my first apat live event , thanks to all the apat staff and everyone at the rendezvous casino for making it so , including the valet who had the shortest distance ever to park my car , it did make me smile. I met and talked some really nice people and had an opportunity to put some faces to the forum names.
The tournament was played in nice and relaxed atmosphere and although I didn't know any of the players it would have been difficult for anyone in my position not to feel comfortable at the table.I had a bit of banter with some of the players who's smiles were a little bit broader than normal when they were relieving me of my chips. As normal it didn't go quite according to plan , that's not unusual , but at least I know a little bit more about poker this morning than I did on Friday so that's good.
Regarding the cash game feedback it went exactly as I expected it would, it was a really exciting concept and I certainly wouldn't have a problem playing that style of cash game format again. Naturally I can't comment on how it went near the end because as usual I'm long gone before the conclusion of any tournament but I hope it went well.
Congratulations to both winners over the weekend and hopefully see you all again soon. Thanks Frazer.
-
congratulations to all medal winners, very well played ::)

Looking forward to playing much more often in S6!

Really good weekend, nice casino staff and all the players were a good laugh as usual.
Only peeve was on the final table when we were railing our friend.
He shoves his last 10-15bb and gets called by someone who has him easily covered.
KQ < AJ
We all called for the kings and queens etc only to be told by the eventual winner not to call for cards as it"s rude and not fair on the other player.
Where do you guys stand? Had the other player had a rail would they have done the same?
Is it not good for the game to cheer from the rail like in wsop?
-
Not that I haven"t done it but it is rude.
Railers should be seen but not heard.
Just because it"s done at the WSOP doesn"t make it right, proper or "good for the game".....it"s not a bloody football match. ;D
-
It"s a strange one. There was about 3 people railing the heads up match. Perhaps more people would take up playing and friends of players would want to come watch if the rail was exciting.
-

fair point - I don"t like it when players call for cards then woop when they suck out, but i suppose it makes for a fun occasion if there is a bit of banter on the rail.
I lost an allin in edinburgh with the villains rail screaming for an ace which came. I was more upset about the ace and the rail reaction didn"t bother me. The villain to be fair just raked in the pot and said nothing so I was cool with it.
I think sponsors like this sort of thing for the reason quoted by cundallini, so given the added value that is generally on offer from sponsors, then a rowdy rail is a neccessary "evil" (not that I think its evil)
-
Many thanks for everyone who made it such an enjoyable weekend!

Had a great weekend as well Asa but don"t think I"ve ever felt as knackered as I am now, didn"t leave the casino till after 3am last night ::) Well done to Marie and Brian and everyone who cashed over the piece. Thanks to all the regulars and new faces I met for making the journey worthwhile as ever and to Richard and Des as ever for the immense job they do 8)

Because it"s a competitive game and sometimes you might have a horse in the tournament I think it should be allowed only when the cards are on their backs. All the decisions have been made so why not cheer for the cards.
-
He shoves his last 10-15bb and gets called by someone who has him easily covered.
This is the key for me. IMHO when your friend is at risk for his tournament life after such a deep run I personally think it is acceptable, fun and exciting to call for cards. It"s a different matter when the other player is at risk.
Over celebrating suck-outs is also a different matter and imho is wrong (an instinctive fist pump as a reaction is ok as it"s exactly that... instinct)
I had left by the time the FT started so didn"t see how this specific stuation took place, but those are my views based on what"s posted.
One thing that really tilts me (and I am not saying it applies here; the post just reminded me of it) is when a player not in the hand calls for cards which would eliminate the player at risk in order to ladder. This to me is disgusting and disrespectful and it happened at the weekend (not in the main event)
-
Agree with all above.
If it was the other Saturday night tournament final table then it was disgusting and stupid because he was shouting for cards which didn"t even need to hit haha. TT > KJ or something and this guy still in is callin for a ten.
Awful nit retard

Congratulaions to Tony, Jon and especially to Marie. Sounds like it was a fun weekend :)
Also big congrats to that eastern european gangster.............?? Brian?

Really good weekend, nice casino staff and all the players were a good laugh as usual.
Only peeve was on the final table when we were railing our friend.
He shoves his last 10-15bb and gets called by someone who has him easily covered.
KQ < AJ
We all called for the kings and queens etc only to be told by the eventual winner not to call for cards as it"s rude and not fair on the other player.
Where do you guys stand? Had the other player had a rail would they have done the same?
Is it not good for the game to cheer from the rail like in wsop?
I was there for this, it was good to hear the cheer for your guy when he sat down for the last 4.
I think Marie did ask where was the cheer for her and the other 2, as joke!
I do feel it is "just is not British" to shout from the rail. You have to ask yourself would you like it?

Hello all. Marie here. Many thanks to everyone for their congratulations and for a great weekend - I can"t believe what a friendly tournament it was & thank the casino, the dealers and the APAT "people" for making it such a good event.
@ Cundallini - I"m sorry that I was your "peeve". I think the support you gave your friend was fantastic and from a personal perspective I have no issue with calls like "good luck" & cheering if he won the hand. And if he had called for the cards, that"s fair enough because it"s his tournament life on the line and no-one likes to be in that position. It"s just that, in the venues where I have played most of my poker, I"ve always been taught that"s it"s not good etiquette to call for cards for someone else, especially to effectively bad beat someone. But if the tournament directors had ok"d it, I would of course have sucked it up. It wasn"t personal...
The highlight for me, other than winning, was managing to get to (I think it was) 5th place without actually having been in an all-in showdown with my tournament life on the line. Don"t get me wrong, there had been a few hands where it it had gone the other way I"d have been left with next to nothing & other times when I went all-in with no calls from bigger stacks but I can"t remember another tournament with so few all-ins. I"d like to say it was good play but in reality it"s just the cards you"re given plus a number of other factors which I imagine are unlikely to be repeated...
thanks again to everyone who made it such a great tournament, best wishes, Marie

Well done Marie, pleasure being on your table at the start. ;D

Congrats to Marie, the other medal winners and cashers and to everyone who took part in what was a great event.
It was our first time going to the Rendezvous in Brighton, but I"m sure it won"t be our last. Rob, Gerry and the Rendezvous team of dealers and valets were outstanding over the weekend and I"d like to thank them all for being so hospitable to our players and staff.
-
Wholeheartedly agree, thought the casino staff could not have done more. A superb job all round.
-
completely agree as well - would love to see Brighton back for season 6.

Yes was a great venue , was also good to see the regulars and meet some new faces , too many to mention.
Enjoyed the SnG finished 2nd to the Imperious MR baker only managed by constant tilting of a certain player LOL
who wasn"t able to concentrate for some reason.
Once again mr burnhill outlasted myself and mr kelly in the main (becoming a habit) however we did rail him to victory on
sunday in the casino tourney ;D ;D ;D
P.S. I didnt think the arcade was that good was missing something!!!
P.P.S. I hope to go very deep at my next APAT whenever that may be!!!

Enjoyed that. Well done to the venue and the organizers. Also, congrats to the players who made the FT.
It was good to have lots of Solent players there - several were playing their first live APAT but are now intending to travel to more of them this year. I played okay on Saturday but disappointed with my play near the end on Sunday.
I have to say well done to Naz for taking the bad beat so well in the cash tournament in a situation where some other people might not have.
My highlight was Michelle showing her ladylike qualities by getting her legs caught up under the table, to the extent that she need help to extricate herself, and then saying "I don"t know how I did that - I"ve got a big wooden thing between my legs" - which saved any embarrassment.
See you all again in Brighton next time.
-
Another brilliantly ran event with good with a quality venue and some good play. A thanks to all those involved in the organisation and play. See you all at the next one.
P.S as for rail, you should do as mine does and cheer for the other guy.

Sigh, yes, not the only thing to be ribbed at for the whole weekend ;D By the Sunday evening even the dealer was joining in with the piss taking :P
