Title: The Genting Tour hits London!
Post by: Joker161 on March 21, 2012, 09:31:37 AM
Anyone playing at the Fox Club next week?

It"s slightly cheaper than the UKIPT events at £400. You start with 25k in chips and there"s a 60 minute clock. A little slower than the online league ;)

I"m planning on playing Day 1C (next Friday). Anyone else playing?

I was planning on playing, but I"ve had a dreadful year so far so may not. Decision decisions...

Good luck! :)

Thanks Don! Looks like a good option for when I get knocked out on Friday! I"ll stick with Genting on Friday because I like the 60 minute clock.

For thread completeness here is my hendonmob record ...

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=188966

Does that make you the favourite?

I would accept a who has the most chips left at the end of day 1 bet ... but very happy to just fly the APAT flag high ... last longer is a bit weird in that you can re-enter up to the end of level 9 ... it"s quite possible that this safety net might inspire me to to shove lighter as we progress through day 1 ...

I was looking for such spots at the first leg in Birmingham ... but they really were not there and as we got into level 8/9 it becomes an expensive second bullet to be pretty short once again ...

It"s a great structure - but a little bit of a leap early in day 2 - so will be likely to attack or bust late on day 1

Let"s just both make the final table!

Time to run good ...

Watching some of the delayed streaming - all pretty standard stuff ...

Looks like min 438 runners * £400 for £175,200 - though sure to rise with re-entries today/tomorrow.

Hopefully some deep APAT running ...

I see that you got through Day 1C, Louie. We"re you at the Fox? I was one of the ones shuffled off to the Palm, although I"m not complaining! Very nice! I ended up on 100k, and the website says you got through too - great stuff.

I had a great day. Managed to knock out Paul Jackson and Julian Thew. My table seemed to be half full of pros at any one time. Fascinating stuff. Min-raising every other hand. I manged to get a pro to fold KK pre-flop, which caused much amusement on the table when I showed QQ!

Any news on Richard and the others?

See you at the Fox.

Joe.

Interesting hand for Joe Carr-Hill

http://www.gentingpokerseries.com/live/blog/2012/03/30/day-1c-level-11/

A great slog for me - but still alive - had a chance to call what would have been a valued added race with JJ - two all ins in front of me.

It"s super marginal - and would have stood up - but a defeat would have had me back to 10k and a likely re-entry - mmm

Last hand of the day I float 76o in late position vs the serial raiser Jamie Burland ... unfortunately next to act wants to dance his AJ into Burland"s JJ ... flop 772 ... sigh ... of course I possibly shouldn"t be in the hand at all ... but had made quite a few chips floating Burland"s trashier raises ...

13 hours of poker note quite enough cards so off to the Blackjack tables - perhaps all my luck used - for +£830!

Good luck all today.

Most rulings in a day ...

Table 12 - adjacent to my table managed to have about 15 rulings in the day - lots for folding out of turn - but also for players turning over other people"s cards and most amazingly for excessive talking ... a 3 hand penalty ... the guy was overjoyed ....

The whole table was warned - but not before they had had a dealer removed for also talking too much and miss-dealing etc ...

Early exit for me ... table was fairly well set up ... but needed to double and no cards ... thus whilst the two ladies to my right donked most of their chips off ... not to me ... to my right the short stacked card rack and Ben Jackson who started on about the same chips today but got the double up AQ vs 22 ... winning on the river counterfeit ...

40 mins in - I get my first hand of the day AT in the BB - okay ready to ship ... except the UTG elect to raise 15BB"s of his 45BB - this has me covered - but not really a calling hand to such a weird bet ... short stack in the small blind does call ... and he flips KK ... so a good except ... one of the big stack dwell folded claims JJ ...

Anyway a nice to life to be granted but only for a matter of minutes ... Mick Mazar (if my reading across the table was correct) freshly chipped up via 77 vs AK ... raises early ... and I looked down at KQo ... feels worth the 20BB shove to get back into shape ... but vs KK ... terrible shape and the comedy Q on the river no good at all ...

Good luck to those still playing ...

Only just seen this thread.

Very frustrating day - mostly rubbish cards if I do get a half-decent hand there"s a raise and 3bet in front of me, when I do try a light raise one of the nits behind me decides to play thieir first hand in an hour by 3 betting me.

Eventually perished 4 bet shoving KQ into JJ - my image was such it took him 30 seconds to call #nevergonnahappenatanapat.

Really really good structure in this tourney and refreshingly harsh rulings - would def play again.

Cheers Tighty.

Managed to luckbox my way to 31st in the end.

Really pleased The Honey Monster won it....one of poker"s great characters.

580 runners in the end!......talk of a "bigger boat" to take everyone next year ;)
