I am in and looking forward to it
-
I"m in free chips up for grabs.
-
I was in, but i"ve withdrawn as I"ve managed to fish my way into a final qualifier for the Irish Open on Pacific Poker. Having said that, it starts at 7.30pm so it still gives me plenty of time to donk off my chips and take part!
-
Good luck to those that are playing today. i am giving this one a miss. currently on an amazing winning tourney run on another site resulting in a lot of 2/3/4am finishes and am too knackered to bother tonight with this.
See you all at the first online sat for austria instead

Just got back in time to join this after celebrating Wales win vs England in the Six Nations. Expecting to donk my chips off rather quickly, but it"ll have been worth it..
-
Haven"t played as many of these as I would of liked this season, and being a bit discombobulated over the last month and a bit I was lucky to get in this one.
So best of luck... Although I want to get all the luck myself....
-
Ha-ha... And that one didnt last long.... Ah well....
-
I"m in, although only just got home in time (less than a minute left), and would say that rushing to register is NOT the best way to prepare for a tourny!
;D
-
Treble up just before the break from 4.8 k to about 13.5k....board had 3 diamonds, one player hit k flush and I got priced in with my ad1 and the another overcard being a King....
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Posted on sponsors page .Had enough of blue square. No more on line for me.It"s a shame because i love the APAT tournaments, but enough is enough.I have supported apat from the start but the i poker makes it no fun any more.
-
Does that mean I can have your Vegas seat? Please?
Oh and I just donked 9k with a badly executed stop/go from utg. Did I really have to do it? Possibly not, but pushing with an M of 5 is too predictable nowadays...
-
Busted out in 47th. Didn"t play a single hand. Went to the City ****nal match and stayed in town for some extra comiseration. Got home to find i"m out. Sadly 47th is probably my best finish to date in this series.
At least I finished higher than 1leg, 2 legs and 3legs!!! LOL
Gl the rest of you
Cant believe Micky is leaving BSQ, after it gave him a WSOP main event seat

Cant believe Micky is leaving BSQ, after it gave him a WSOP main event seat
Here was me thinking he won it, rather than being gifted it by BSQ!
There is a trend here re the software, will anything be done?

we all have our favorite site,s , and i will be proud 2 represent APAT and blue sq at the wsop but i poker is not for me,
-
I will bring this to their attention again. It seems a crazy situation.

Des and all the APAT crew,it is in no way your fault my dislike for ipoker.I first started off on line on same site but had the same problems. It didnt help this week when trying 2 organise my vegas trip that customer support were less than helpful.I will hopefully get a seat for the live events .And i hope that APAT will keep on growing ,after all that you and all the members have put into it.
Cheers Micky

Seeing as the game finished at 6pm you had a massive 2 hours celebration before heading home for a 10$ push fest.
gotta love you Welsh.

I am with you all the way, last season we were spoilt with the pokerstars software and this year i poker.During this evenings tourney I have witnessed and been knocked out in 11th by quads. after seeing them 4 times ...........we also had a straight flush to the King followed by a royal flush 4 hands later, absolute *****

Out in 6th place still happy to have made my fourth Apat final table in a row finishing 6th 1st 1st and tonight 6th.

I"m a bit confused by all of these comments. What are people suggesting, the i-poker network is fixed ?
I have played on i-poker for years and never had any connection problems. I will admit that the user interface is not as friendly as some other sites (pokerstars especially), but I can"t see what all the fuss is about.
I can appreciate that some peoples computer setup may cause them some problems, but this can usually be resolved and I have seen plenty of people offering advice on other threads to this end.
I think its an easy option to have a go at the software and it all then appears negative towards APAT aswell, which I am sure is not the aim of any of the members.
Having played most of this seasons online events I have found them quite friendly and starting to get used to who people are and starting to see familiar names when it gets down to the crunch.
It will get my continued support and remember even if you aren"t happy with what you are getting now, with the work of Des and the team, it will only get better, so stick with it would be my advice.

Leigh. Now that i have had time to calm down i will try and get all my problems sorted out.I never stated that i poker was rigged in any way at all,and if i came across in any way negative towards apat then i can only apologise.Hopefully if i can get things sorted at my end then i will continue to support apat as much as i have done in the past.

I personally would not say that it is fixed,BUT some of the outdraws are becoming very predictable, during live sessions you never see 4 lots of quads, when have you seen a straight flush followed by a royal flush 4 hands later, and this was in 3 hours of tournament poker. I also had connection problems after exiting the comp. I think the statement box quoted that " there was something wrong with the isp connection"
I can echo mickey"s statement in that I have supported APAT since conception and will continue to do so,BUT ( there are always but"s) missing pokerstars professionalism/ software.
-
I"ve only played one of the APAT tournies on Blue Square, but in the hour or so I played I did hit quad aces while some poor bloke was betting into me with a full-house. I also saw someone hit quad eights and one straight flush. It also appeared to be very rare for the person who had the best of it when the money went, to actually win the hand.
I don"t know about it being rigged, but it does seem to have an obvious bias towards rewarding very aggressive play, but the software obviously can"t distinguish between aggressive play and just plain being a donkey....consequently, it means trapping someone becomes impossible.
If this assumption is correct it just means the guy who falls into the trap will out-draw his opponent cause the software recognises his all-in shove as aggression and rewards him with the pot, rather than the guy who did everything right setting the trap and getting his money in with the best of it.
-
When does it get rigged in my favour?
-
or mine...I"d just like to win a coinflip at a key time!! ;D and as for quads what do they look like on ipoker? ;D
-
When does it get rigged in my favour?
Oh, that"ll be last night then ;D.

All online card rooms use random number generators to choose the cards. All random number generators are not "random" and they can be seeded to produce a bias, e.g. lots of face cards on the flops, etc.
Try sitting at a royal jackpot table and be amazed at the continuous stream of low rainbow flops, then switch to a standard ring game and observe the frequency at which aces or three flushes are dealt on the board??
Online sites want the tourneys over as quickly as possible, so that players will buy into another one as soon as they take an early bath and earn the poker site more money, so of course there are bad beats a plenty, because they are not running the games for the benefit of the players.
Therefore you have to approach online play with the attitude that you are playing against the software as well as your opponents at the table. The essential skills of reading your opponents, reading the board and sensing when to make moves or fold are all still extremely pertinent. You just have to learn the quirks of each particular site and adapt your game accordingly.
At the end of the day, bad beats are a part of the game, and even if you get your chips in as 3 to 1 favourite, one time out of 4 on average you will lose.
I was donked out early in the English Amatuer Open live game in Walsall. I had pocket nines, my opponent had KQ. It flopped KQ9. The train wreck inevitably happened. I hit a ten on the turn to give me more outs by way of a gut shot straight draw but surprise surprise, out popped a king on the river giving my opponent a 4 outer full house and all my chips. So it happens live as well. In this example it was unavoidable, my opponent believed he had the best hand and so did I, and despite the fact I was way ahead on the flop, he had outs and got lucky.
Every week I get my low pairs counterfeited, my big aces get sucked out on with people hitting their 2 kickers, underpairs crack my trip aces when they hit a backdoor flush, morons push all in with 5 3 off and hit 2 pairs. These things happen all day and every day. When things go right, and you make the final table, rejoice and congratulate yourself that even if it took a bit of good luck along the way to get there, all the bad beats you suffered previously mean that you have earned it.
If your game is solid you will eventually get the results you deserve.

So are the live games rigged as well, seeing as there are plenty of bad beats in that too?

Live games are more rigged than internet poker.. I got knocked out of my last live game with AA never happens online that.. ;D

I have not implied that either live or online games are rigged against any particular player, although in a live game a skilled dealer could easily dish out "seconds" to an individual if he or she were in collusion with a player. It would not take long before they were sussed out.
My point was that the bad beats are dished out to everyone, and they happen more often online than in a live environment, even allowing for the greater number of hands you see online. You need to develop a sixth sense to realise when you are being set up, and get out of the way.
The only online site I have played on so far where I get a feel that the dealing is absolutely random is PKR.com. On that site apart from the superb 3d graphics, and the fully customisable personal avatars, when you play the dealing spread is very realistic. In a typical hour you will only pick up a few hands which are worth playing beyond the flop. You still get the odd bad beat happen, but that is generally due to idiot play rather than two players both hitting the flop and getting their chips in with the virtual nuts.
Even the mighty Pokerstars dishes out a lot of bad beats, you just have to learn how to play their software. That site is not known as Riverstars or Jokerstars for no reason. Since I got wise to their little tricks I have cashed for over over 4000 dollars there. So I was disappointed when the APAT moved to Blue Square, but it will not stop me taking part in the online series, I just have to get a feel for the Blue Square software before I raise my expectations of any meaningful results.

Isn"t it the case that you see fewer bad-beats on PKR over the same time period as another site, because the dealing is slower on PKR so you play fewer hands per hour?
There are many reasons for seeing more "bad-beats" online:
1. More hands are played. If I"m 4-tabling online, playing 6-handed cash, I simply get to see a lot more hands than I would in a live environment.
2. There are many more players in an online tournament. If you play a £20 tournament in a casino, you"ll be up against 100 players, maximum. Usually, far fewer than this. Online you might be up against 1,000. You"re going to have a lot of good players in this field (and dare I say better than many live players), but you"re naturally also going to have a lot of bad players. therefore, you"ll see a lot of calls with mediocre hands from these bad players, and they will get lucky. If I shove with AKs against 75o and a "mug" calls me - he"s going to win the hand 35% of the time. There are simply more opportunities to see these beats online.
3. Easy come, easy go. You can fire up a tournament online, register and be playing in seconds. Whilst you"re at it you can fire up a few more for good measure. You bust out of one with a marginal call - it"s no biggy. There are the others and some more just round the corner. You travel, even a few miles, to a live event, you have to invest a lot more effort and time. You don"t want to donk out early, and many people will pay more cautiously early on because of that.
4. No shame. You call someone in a live game with 75o, you need a thick skin and the ability to look the other player in the eye when you outdraw them. Online, you have no shame - you"re anonymous. It"s easier to take the risk in a bid to double-up than it is in a live game.
I"m not saying that the online games aren"t "weighted", but I haven"t seen any "evidence" of this. Aren"t the random number generators monitored and certified by third-party firms?
I see the argument why some believe it might be weighted towards these massive "clashes", but I think that the way people play brings enough of them about anyway.
I played in a tournament on BlueSQ last night, and got to the final table without hitting a hand bigger than a straight. I had one full house on the final table (with 52o, the same hand as my opponent!). Did the software just decide not to involve me in these "cold decks"? Also the number of times the short-stack managed to outdraw the larger stacks when all-in was amazing. Surely, if the room wanted the tournament to be finished as quickly as possible (and was weighted in this way), the short-stacks would have lost these all-in races?
I"m still not convinced.

Great post Dan..
I agree with you... People see so many hands online, that is the sole reason they complain about whatever site..
If there is one comment I could make about ipoker (I dont believe this to be true) is that I feel that you see more Ace(s) after the 5 cards have been put on the board than other sites, but that is just something that is in my head, no figures or anything to back that up..
Ipoker is not the best software out there, by a long way, and I would agree with anybody who said that.

Pokerstars is the best software. But I don"t play 50c/$1 cash on there - too tough. iPoker is much, much better.

Crouch should start every game alongside Torres.

You"re pushing it now Daniel :D
Oh, and you"re spot on regarding your "bad beats", "online poker"s rigged" post. Although you finishing second the other night could well fuel the fire....... :D

Again i agree.. stop it now please !!

OK, here"s a hand I played in a live tournament in Stoke.
I"m short-stacked and look down to see KK. There"s a raise from UTG, and I don"t have enough chips to do anything but shove - and will be quite happy with what"s in the pot or being up against just this player.
However, it didn"t quite pan out like that. The player in the cut-off who has me covered decides to re-pop it all-in. The player on the button says something about him going to regret this, and he"s the large stack, so he moves all-in, back to the original raiser who also decides to call (a very bad call). So much for getting heads-up with one other player!
The cards are turned over:
Me - kd kh
Cut-off - ad1 kc
Button - :as: ah
UTG - ac qc
Whoops. First card out, the case ks, followed by :3c: and 7s. 5s on the turn still leaves me ahead, although the fella with AA now has the nuts flush draw. The river is a comedy :3s:, giving him the nuts flush, but also giving me the full house.
I take the main pot, and the fella with AA takes the rest.
My comment as I pulled the chips towards me was "Only online..."
