It"s very tough to beat out these monster fields, so I think 3 would be a great result.

With regards event 2, John Eames and Rich Hare both out before the money I believe.

Yeah totally agree but Dempsey and Ashby in particular mixed game specialists which attract smaller fields....think Chufty made 2 ft"s last year and was so close to taking one down!!

Whats the view on @philivey play HU with @AMFrankenberger in the $10k PLHE?

I felt the commentators on the stream were being a little harsh on Phils challenger they seemed to give him no hope, I thought he had a great strategy really taking it to Phil with what were pretty mediocre hands. Not sure about Phil calling off 20% of his shortish stack with a str draw after the flop had to think a repot was in order?

Sigh at missing this, the two Phil"s heads up for bracelets at the same time.

Andy Frankenberger is a bit of a weird one. Every time I have seen him on TV he has played so bizarrely yet he has won so much in the game. Anyone know if there will be video of the heads up anywhere?

I agree on frankenberger, hes won so much last 3 years but when-ever ive seen him on TV, im like WTF??
He won the partypoker prem league and he played soooo strange, the lines he took made no sense what so ever in Holdem and PLO during the heats. Never forget Schwartz getting tilted watching him from the box lol.

I think he defended the fold with QQ quite well, inasmuch as it was about points for finishing places. As I remember, the heat was unusual in that finishing first didn"t have a huge premium over second, but second did over third, plus two players had played their joker for double points in that round, so it was more important to him to preserve second and block them from scoring big than to go all-out for first and risk dropping out of the top two. I think he had made an overly big 3 or 4 bet before that, which he admitted afterwards was bad but was cos he didn"t appreciate how big a bet potting it is (like a lot of players). Something like that anyway - there were reasons for the fold, but he shouldn"t have got himself into that situation. A lot of the criticism came from the players who would have benefited from him busting - Sexton and can"t remember the other one.

Well done Hellmuth. His holdem game may be on the wane but his mixed game has come on a ton. Love the guy

I like Frankenberger as well. Played with a lot of class in the prem league. Does take some weird lines but always seems to know where he is in a hand.
Title: Re: World Series Of Poker Thread
Post by: WYoung83 on June 12, 2012, 01:03:38 AM
Didnt he 3 bet with QQ then fold to an all in when getting great price, then not long after he got it in with AK getting worse price. cant remember exactly but it didnt make sense for him to fold the QQs but call with the AK, weird logic.
Ive just looked on youtube regarding other weird hand, and i cant find it, but it was somthing like 3 betting with trash, flopping trips vs over pair, then checking it down. (hes won 4 major titles in 3 years so must be doing somthing right) cant remember hand exactly, but Luke schwartz was so annoyed in the box. It was really funny.

Well Done to Hellmuth also.

i Sky +ed  the new prem league last night on sky sports, and just tried to watch it now (its just the qualifiers for a couple of weeks, but Feldman is commentating, and i turned it off after 20 mins or so. How has that guy ever made money in poker? almost everything he said is just crap and results based. Someone should tell him that when you play poker, u cant see what opponents have, and you dont know whats comming down on the board.

Cheers for the support guys, sadly I busted half way through level 6 (at least I made the antes this time) in about 950th.

3k chips to begin. Starting table was soft, picked up an early double flatting a raise in position with AK. In a 5 way pot the flop is AK4. Checked to me, I bet, get called by the SB. He then check-commits himself on turn 9 and I get it in vs his AQ.

Unfortunately got moved to table with Craig McCorkell 3 to my right (who I used to play with in Southampton - small world) and Andrew Teng 2 to my left. Chipped up to 12k however going into the 100/200 level. AK didn"t miss for me all tournament and the only time it did it was vs Andrew Teng who I felt comfortable hero-calling with Ace-high in a 3bet pot.

Key hand was McCorkell raising to 400 at 100/200 from UTG+1. A German guy who"d made one really random move (raises pre, before 3bet shoving a QT9 board with little FE vs UTG limp-caller, gets a fold, shows a 4) flats out of his 5.6k stack. I 3bet to 1150 with AQo. McCorkell snap folds and German guy shoves. Easy call, he has 77 and every other high card comes out on the KJ589 board. Win that flip and I"m just under 20k (about 3 times average) - reckon I"m odds-on to cash with that stack. Had an awesome table and decent seat to be a big stack.

Leaves me with 6.5k (~30BBs), and given the stack sizes around I pretty much have to nit up, so of course I go card dead. Drop 1500 with K7 v A7 on 97432 board and do the rest making a loose 3jam with A7 vs CL uber LAG who"d opened EMP. He took over a minute to call with 88 at least. I brick and that"s it.

Haven"t won a flip all trip so far, which sucks.

So my third bracelet attempt ends in a bust. First time I treble up before losing KK v TT and two flips. Second time I double up before losing a flip and then running QQ into KK. Am fed up of getting a stack in these and hitting a brick wall halfway through day 1. Felt so fecking comfortable, even against the pros :(

Nope, out in 4th

But I"m sure he had the whole table eating out of his hand...just got super unlucky. After all, as Phil H. Says "Poker is 100% skill and 50% luck."

Having said that though, you can"t argue with 12 bracelets (could have reached 14 last year) and you can"t knock his entertainment value.

It makes no sens to me at all. He folded quads and put his opponent on spefically 910ss, he said that he cant have Jacks full because he didnt 3 bet the button?? Some people wont 3 bet with JJs from the Btn, some people mix it up with 3 betting ranges.
And also why did he show that he can fold a monster, he should never show the table because they will just bluff him off other pots. Pretty obv to me the other guy didnt have SF because he is an ammuter and he wouldnt be able to help but show if he had a straight flush.

Listening to PG on the live stream now and he over heard the guy who won the hand, telling someone after the day had ended that he did have Straight flush. Interesting because he was at the table when it happened and he said himself that he thinks there was about 50% chance that he had it, but he personally would of never folded the quads anyway.

Been fine for me all night on google chrome. Only annoying thing is the adverts after every hand.

Sam currently HU with Antonio. One really really interesting thing regarding the live feed (15 min delay) is that all players had agreed away from the table to show their hands after the hand is over, both loosing hand and winning hands if it ends up going to the flop. I thought this really weird at first, but according to the commentators it is easier for all players to find out right away as opposed to running to the rail and ring friends up watching the live feed, because it would be foolish to give up free information but would make the game become a bit of a farce if players were constantly leaving the table after every hand was over.

Hes the best in the UK, not sure about the world though. Most of his big scores have come from super high roller events where the fields have been tiny, and half pro/businessman. His style of play seems to suit these and he adjusts very well to playing against Billionaire players. But as for world, is he a better all round MTT player than the likes of Mercier or Shaun Deeb?

Former APAT PLO finalist, world online number 1, and general all round honey monster Chris Brammer made 5th. He"ll definitely win a big one at some point. Toby Lewis also 13th I think.
