Title: IT Connect to Internet Issue with Son's Laptop - HELP?
Post by: Waz1892 on January 13, 2013, 11:25:17 AM
Hi,

My son turned his laptop on just after Xmas for the first time in a while ( A few months) and he had no internet connection.

Last time he connected it was fine.  Since last time we were in the previous house, and with a different IP provider.  We now have BT fibre optic, wireless etc.  My work laptop works fine (through VPN) this mac works fine, all phones/iPad work fine through wireless etc.

when i diagnose it tells me firewall is blocking the internet (Macfee)  I"ve followed the step by step process, nothing.  I"ve turned off firewall - nothing.

I"ve system restored to pre-xmas (in case I"ve changed settings thinking I"m helping and not) but still not able to connect to the internet

Can anyone help?  system restore to pre move (july 2012)?
Remote assistance?

If you can help with remote or phone assistance...very much appreciated.

My level of understanding is brief to say the least.

When i had issues with my PC after being hacked, Neil Dawson helped me no end!!

Im sure if you sent him a PM asking for advice, he may be able to point you in the right direction.

Hope you get it sorted.. Good luck

Is it connecting to the wifi?

If so, try switching off mcafee while you check to see if that"s the issue. Microsoft Security Essentials is a perfectly good free alternative if mcafee is the problem

It is connecting from the laptop to BT hub yes, but missing the link from BThub to Internet.

All other devices connect fine. Help states firewall is blocking it.

Turned that off still nowt
