As usual, news, updates, scandal and photos will be brought to you live from the G Casino, Cardiff where the Cash Tour Leg 2 (Friday evening), Welsh Amateur Poker Championship (Saturday/Sunday) and Pot Limit Omaha Championship Leg 2 (Sunday) will all be played - and, eventually, won!
Myself and Matt "No Ribs" Dale will be your Hosts for the weekend and intrepid reporters for the action - I understand that a certain well known APAT member is having a "Stag Doo" on the Friday night - there may well be pics and stories from that to look forward to also - as well as seeing who will be sweating pure alcohol on Saturday!!
Here are your list of 102 APAT members who will be partaking in the Main Event - these will be joined by 8 players who have won their seats via the G Casino Cardiff directly - making 110 runners that will be starting on Saturday afternoon at 14:30.
So lets have some predictions on :
Winners
Final Tablists
First Out
Most Hanging after the Stag Do
Persons name i get wrong the most
The one who knocks Matt's ribcage the most
Number of times this happens before tears materialise

Doesnt matter - impossible to get the full house. Not a chance in hell.
I mean, really, come on, Des at the bar?!
-
Just for fun, we could use these as alternatives:-
Holdyfoldy going to bed
curlarge eating a salad
Ger refusing a pint
Boingblitz wearing a Birmingham City shirt
Jack awake after 11pm
The buxom cockney wench not cuddling anyone
Carl losing a hand
Stu Ward with his trousers on
Paulie running
Des at the bar
Leigh at the bar
Matt at the bar
Mark at the bar

"Honey, maybe we should have a bit of a lie in tomorrow morning so we"re not hanging for the stag dooo tomorrow night?"
"I thought of that, but I want to get in a run before we go. Besides, what could possibly go wrong?"
There is NO chance Jack will be awake after 11pm. He"s just gone for a 2 mile walk with the boys before they head to the kennels. When he gets back with them, he"s intending to head off on a morning run of 5k or so...and it"s only gone 8am! I fear tonight will consist of many men"s room inspections to hunt down the napping Jack. lol
Edit - Scratch the run. He"s come to his senses. Instead, we"re heading to Cardiff earlier than originally planned. Suggestions of lunch and a couple of pints before the rest turn up. So we"ll still be looking for him in loos later. :D
-
Whew...sorry for first update tardiness guys n gals...usual IT issues and then having to relocate myself....but we are underway here in Coventry - 18 runners for the Cash Tour - seems to be about 300 APAT out in Cardiff city for Phil"s Stag Do....even the Caped Crusader himself has made an appearance it seems!
You"ll have to see the pics to believe me...
Anyway, 1 player down already - local player Jayne Harris not reloading when her top pair/flush draw wasnt good enough to see off Tony Johnsons flopped 2 pair....so down to 17....Table 2, which includes Adam Sharples, Dann Williams, Chris Webber and John Murray certainly seems the most raucous and "active"...the poor dealermin getting a rough old time...as David Howard commented, Table 1 certainly the "least lecherous"...in a distinctly lecherous voice, to the blonde haired female dealer....read into that what you will...it could be a long night!
Hand action to follow, 40 mins into Phase 1
-
Just into the second hour - a couple of big hands :
After Dwayne Stacey had raised to £2 and got a caller, Tony Johnson re raised to £12, which Dwayne called.
Flop comes J93 - Tony leads out for £18...Dwayne goes all in for arond £70- Tony folds.
Then, local player George Adams raises to £10, Stuart Oliver calls - flop is 4A6 - George fires 12 - Stuart calls - turn is another 6 - George fires 30 - Stuart thinks and calls....river is a Queen....George slides in £55...Stuart tanks but eventually makes the call....George nods as Stuart flashes AJ to take the pot
-
Glenn Laming down in 17th place
-
George Adams fights back....on a board of 2T2A6 he goes all in for his final £55 - there has been plenty of action with Dave Howard that means the pot is already nearly £100...Dave doesnt have enough to cover George but makes the call....George flips 62 which is more than enough, and Dave has to reload for his final £100
-
Just gone halfway and Stuart Oliver leads the way on around £320 - local players Craig Daye not far behind - Tony Johnson also ahead of the game - 16 remain
-
local player George Adams announces he is all in blind for £47 - Stuart Oliver makes the call with A8 - and is up against 52.....George goes straight to the top of Stuarts Xmas card list as he spunks almost all his £200 buy in to Mr Oliver....who extends his lead in the tournament.
15 left - 75 mins to go.

15 left - 75 mins to go.
Go Stu!!
-
Dwayne Stacey making a move as he check raises a tasty pot off Michael Johns
-
Jason Kemp out in 15th place - his AA bust by the KK of Craig Daye - who "cannot lose" according to Chris Webber!
-
Stuart Oliver"s stack takes a bit of a hit - a cooler of a flop QJ5 meant the chips went in - low stack Micheal Johns having his £55 all in called by Stuart - Stuart top 2 pair - Michael 55. No help for Stuart.
-
play entering its last half hour - chip counts incoming as the race to make the FT hots up
-
Dave Howard out in 14th
Chip counts with 10 mins left :
Tony Johnson £221.50
Stuart Oliver £304
Michael Johns £275
Dwayne Stacey £383
Vikrum Mehta £ 343
Gareth Johns £185
Adam Sharples £271
DerrickAndrews - £270
Dann Williams £135
Craig Daye £562
Chris Webber £270
John Murray £148
Matt Dent £165.75
-
Final Tablists of the Cash Tour
S1 - Michael Johns £287.50
S2 - Craig Daye £641.25
S3 - Matt Dent £230.00
S4 - Vikram Mehta £350.75
S5 - Chris Webber £298.50
S6 - Stuart Oliver £350.75
S7 - Gareth Johns £182.50
S8 - Dwayne Stacey £385.00
Dann Williams was the unlucky FT bubbler....losing out by just 75p....
-
a cagey start to the FT.blinds up to .50/£1 and Chris Webber takes advantage with a few canny pre flop raises to take some blinds...there are some funky chip stacking going on...started by Dwayne Stacey....
-
Dwayne Stacey takes a £00+ pot down from Chris Webber - Chris had raised to £3 UTG which Dwayne called - flop was King high, then a J on the turn where Dwayne raised Chris"s bet - Chris re popped, Dwayne not put off though and re raised to £75....Chris called - a 5 on the river, Chris checks, Dwayne bets, Chris puts them away....
-
First casualty of the FT - and its a biggy....Vikrum Mehta gets juicy with Dwayne Stacey on a KQJ flop....raises flew back n forth before Vikrum shoved....Dwayne not taking too long to make the call....showing AT for broadway...Vikrum showing KJ. A Ten gives Vik the chance to split the pot...but a brick on the river sends Vik spinning out and Dwayne assumes the chip lead
-
Matt Dent takes down a nice pot uncontsted by Michael Johns - now in to the second and final hour of play
-
Big pot between Chris Webber and Craig Daye - no real pre flop action but when the flop comes down 6T4, theres a flurry of bets with Chris raising Craig - the turn brings a J - bet and call....river is an 8....Chris shoves all in and Craig eventually calls....Chris gleefully showing 75 and taking a massive pot down
-
Dwayne Stacey still the chip leader - Craig 2nd, Chris 3rd, Stuart 4th.
-
Matt Dent pressures Chris Webber....Craig Day makes it 2:75, Matt calls, Chris raises to £11 - flop is 389 - Matt checks, Chris bets £17:50 - Matt raises - Chris folds
-
Dwayne takes another big pot down - this time against Stuart Oliver - flop is Kj8, Staurt bets, Dwayne calls - turn a 4 - Stuart bets, Dwayne call of about 40 quid into about a £180 pot....river is an Ace....both players check - Stuart KJ, Dwayne A8........
-
and then he picks up KK next hand!
Dwayne Stacey looking like no one can stop him tonight - his stack is well over £1k!
-
And indeed his lead was insurmountable....Dwayne Stacey wins Leg 2 of the Cash Tour
Final Result :
1 Dwayne Stacey - £964 + £180 Championship Fees
2 Chris Webber - £469
3 Craig Daye - £399.25
4 Stuart Oliver - £252.00
5 Michael Johns - £247.00
6 Matt Dent - £237.50
7 Gareth Johns - £156.00
8 Vikrum Mehta

Chen Tam is the first player to leave us. Vikrum Mehta the recipient of his chips.
I catch the hand on a flop of:
Qc 5c 3d
Vik bets out for 1.7k. Chen makes it 4k to go. Vik calls.
The turn is Qd.
Checkity-check.
The river falls Jc.
Vik bets out 1.7k, Chen makes it 5k, leaving 5.5k back. Vik tanks, finally electing to put Chen all in.
Chen tank calls. His Ac 3c is no match for Vik"s pocket Jacks, and a monster pot heads to Vik.

Chen Tam
-
Mere minutes after Chen"s exit, Judi Edwards is also on the rail.
She regails me of her exit thus:
Min-raise utg from baseball-behatted player, Gary Wildin. Judi calls with TJo, and two others come along for the ride.
9QK.
Gary checks. Judi makes it 400-ish to go. 2 folders, and Gary calls.
Turn: T
Gary checks, Judi makes it 1200. Gary repops to 5000. Judi calls.
River bricks.
All the money goes in from Gary. Like a grand quizmaster, Judi quizically quizzes Gary "do you have AJ?"... Gary decides to take the 5th.
Judi makes the call, but alas she is right. Gary indeed has AJ.
Judi Edwards in happier times
-
Asa McGrath down to 7k after his Aces were outdrawn by 5s 6s that trips up on the turn.
He climbs back to 10k within a few hands, but then.....
Dealt Jacks on a 976 flop with 2 spades, and a turn of 2d, Asa leads out for 1100, Ben Turnstill shoves, and Asa makes the call.
Ben flips A s 5s
River 8h for the gutshot, and Asa heads off to the bar.
-
This is a picture of me, taken by
Mark The Shark Leigh.
Do you like the colour of my shirt? I think it"s quite fetching.
It"s quite cold in here, as you may be able to tell.
-
I tried to use my fantastic "Free Pint + Free Bet" offer I got with my hotel. Alas, the casino say that"s the first they"ve heard of this offer! So, I was unable to redeem said voucher. Instead, I purchase a drink (not for me, for Phil TC, as he is the stag of the moment).
Whilst at the bar, Asa snaps my photo! "b00000m! 1 out of 15" he yells, like an excited child.
I did not want to break his heart, by telling him that it was an invalid photo, as does not appear anywhere on the APAT Bingo. To refresh your memories, here is the bingo card.
In poker news, Steve Redfern has been dealt AA and KK a multitude of times.
-
Dan Dennehy flops 2 pair (QQ 99) on a QK9 board.
Turn 9. Dan full houses it up. His opponent calls with KK, Laura Rhoden.
Dan is out.
Dan Dennehy - no stubble, no sunglasses....and now, no chips!
Another Dann approaches the update table. Dann Williams. In the last level alone, he ran AA into QK on a QKx board, lost with Jacks twice, Tens, Queens, and finally shoved 15bbs with A9s only to be called by Queens. Not a good day at the tables.
A huge round of applause greets Dann"s exit. The first APAT-clap of the event in fact.

Andrew leads out for 5k. Dan shoves all in for 19k. Andrew calls and shows Ah 9h.

news for the BCPC and progress on Tod Wood
he raises pre flop to 525 - gets two callers and then a shove - Tod calls and is in bad shape with 99 v AA
But, as always, in true Tod Wood style, he flops a gutshot and then rivers the 9, to double him up to nearly 20k
-
Table 2 action and Andrew Jones raises - David Howard re pops and Andrew calls.
Flop comes down 4c 5h 8s - David fires 2700, Andrew shoves for about 9k, David calls.

Vik Mehta has increased his stack to 80k
-
Vik Mehta has increased his stack to 80k
But now decreased it to 62k-ish.
Holding AA, and facing 2 pre-flop limpers before him, Vikrum makes it 1650 to go. It folds round to the second limper, Roy Powell, who makes the call.
K Q 8 (2 diamonds).
Vik leads out for 2k, which is raised by Roy to 5k.
Vik doesn"t like his options, but finally elects to shove. He is met by an insta-call from Roy who tables King-Eight.
The turn and river are both bricks, and the pot is headed Roy"s way.
-
Tod Wood down for BCPC
Down to 4k - there was a raise to 750 for which Tod called with K8 - King high board with 3 diamonds - Tod also having the 8 of diamonds - Tod checks, David Brady bets, Tod shoves - David sat there with the flopped flush.
Just on the dinner break now - 82 remaining.
-
Steve Redfern moves tables and 2nd hand in is involved in a big hand.
Lesley Copley having previously shoved all-in (10k) on a TJQ board with AK, and not getting a call, this time open ships 14k under the gun+1 at blinds 150/300. Steve in bigblind, looks down at QQ and decides he has to make the call.
The board does not deliver the killer Ace, and Lesley is out.

The guy knows how to find em 8)

Is it possible for us to have an update for those out and chipstacks please. Many thanks.
The poker software doesnt record finishing positions - we are doing our best to capture players as they get eliminated, but the tables are pretty squashed together and navigating around isnt easy, for the amply sized reporters amongst us...even Matt is finding it a struggle!
Ive got the leading chip stacks at the breaks - just waiting for the players return to confirm their names so i can publish them.
As numbers reduce we should find it easier to confirm exits as they go :)
-
Is it possible for us to have an update for those out and chipstacks please. Many thanks.
I can tell you Michelle"s stack: 14,250

We are playing to the end of level 12 tonight.
Mark has predicted we will be left with somewhere between 0 and 32 players. I have gone for the overs.
-
My words were that i thought thered be around 32 players remaining by close of play tonight....Matt thought more so we"ve had a little wager.
To suggest i thought "between 0 and....." is purely Matt's definition of it! I would say 32 or less.....with him having 33 or more....
-

With 16k left, Dale raises from mid position to 1400 with 9s 10s - the button re raises to 3800 to which Dale calls.
Flop comes 7Q9
Dale checks flop, button shoves for more than Dale"s stack - Dale tanks and makes the call - not putting the button on any Q.....button shows AQ.
Dale down.

Rod Buckman up to over 60k thanks to the following.
Dealt Ad 7d Rod makes a standard sized pre-flop raise to 1500 (blinds 300/600).
The board is dealt: 4 5 8 , two of which are diamonds.
Rod bets out 2k, his opponent raises to 5k. Rod calls.
Turn 3 (not a diamond)
Rod checks. His opponent bets 5k. Rod shoves all in. His opponent tank hero calls with:
46o
The river brings the fateful Ace, and Rod doubles up to just over 60k.

20 mins to the end of level 9 where we can gain more chip counts
-
looks like Phil TC couldnt make it a fairy tale weekend as he approaches the desk looking mildly dejected...the words he has used to describe his conqueror, Mark Foreman, cannot be repeated - AKs v QJ.....flops a Queen.....some people just have no respect for the "storybook" element!

James Fisher does massive damage to the stack of Ben Turnstill....on a board of 94A97, with three diamonds, James finds a call on on every street to Ben"s bets - and his 43 is good.
-
Down to the last 40 players.....
as we go there, Chris Webber and Matt Kirkby embroil themselves in a pot - on a AT8 board, Matt bets, Chris raises, Matt re raises, Chris jams, Matt calls - shows AJ - Chris with AT
7 on the turn, Q on the river and Chris Webber doubles through large.

Goldenballs strikes again....
Tony Trippier had watched his stack slowly evaporate after being card dead since the last break, but found 44 to shove with.
He got called in two places - AJ and QQ - so looked in pretty bad shape.
However, the board ran out 82734 - and that river triples Trippier
(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-8so8UoVWYQI/Uf178_Gvt_I/AAAAAAAA6F0/pywGZD90cB4/s720/IMG_5701.JPG)

just over half an hour till close of play tonight and we are down to 37 players - players are tightening up as Day 2 draws ever closer - early chip leader Vikrum Mehta has had his stack whittled down to size enough for him to shove UTG - his jam getting thru and picking up the 5k in the middle before a card is dealt.

-
Vikrum Mehta just gone.
Also standing up (surprisingly) is Steve Redfern
on an AJ2 flop, Steve overbets his top two pair to make it look like a flush draw, and gets the action he wants from Ian Thompson - and all the chips go in.
Ian showing AQ, Steve his AJ.
Turn is a blank - River is the dreaded Queen.
Huge pot - sends Steve out and Ian Thompson into ecstacy.
-
Andrew Jones just gone - AK v KK of James Fisher who could well be about tournament chippy right now.
Just over 15 mins play left.
-
FECK!!!
-
JOhn Murray gone with 5 mins left to go of Day 1 - KQ hearts losing out to KJ on a KJx board - two hearts

I know there are possibly issues with space and dealers but APAT comps should be 9 handed at the earliest opportunity. 10 handed for the best part of 2 days does seem a step back (in time and quality of product)

Great updates guys. Keep up the good work

Agree Rob, bit was a question of space yesterday. The poker room at Cardiff if really cramped, and to play 9 handed, we would have reduced the small field even further. I"m not sure about switching to 9 handed tables part way through when the tourney starts 10 handed.
-
Gl today to Lucy, Debs, Ian, Tony and Adam

Also massive gl to Warren.. Back to back national Golds would be amazing!!

Table 2 action :
Mike Cucciniello raises UTG and gets it through.
Next hand, Lucy Amos goes all in UTG+1 - Debjani Duncan also goes all in over the top of Lucy - folded round -
Debjani AK
Lucy 33
Board runs nice for Lucy 97656 and her 3s hold up
Lucy doubles her 23k stack, whilst Debjani down to about 33k
-
Tony Trippier doubles up thru Craig Williams - Tony"s A9 of course being too much for Craigs JJ....an Ace materialising on the turn this time to put Tony up to nearly 40k.
-
Carl Bursford first player down in 28th place
-
Evan Humphries gone in 27th - Warren Jones taking him out with 99 - raising Evan"s BB, Evan defending with the shove, but Warren having plenty of chips to make the call - and Evan could only table 65
Board ran out K3T73 and we lose Evan
-
Matt Kirkby goes OTT of the SB raise of Darren Underhill - Darren calls and shows AQ, Matt shows A3 - and it doesnt improve - Matt gone in 26th
-
Ian Thompson doubles through with AA v QQ - takes him up to around 100k
Darren Underhill takes down another nice pot with a shove over bet of Sean Priest
(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-YL0CoqJu704/Uf5blbE65PI/AAAAAAAA6HY/Cp1j5h3WqTo/s512/IMG_5712.JPG)
Darren Underhill
-
Tony Trippier busted out by Laura Rhoden - Tony gone in 25th
-
Chris Webber raises the button to 6200
Warren Jones calls from the SB, Garry Wildin also does from the BB
Flop is 64J - Sb & BB check, Chris bets 6500, both fold.
Warren Jones
-
Darren Underhill raises UTG to 6600
Garry Wildin from the SB and Sean Priest comes along for the ride from the BB also.
All check the 629 flop
A Jack on the turn and Garry fires 7k - Sean raises to 14k, Darren folds and so, eventually, does Garry.
Sean shows J9 for 2 pair.

-
Couple of back-to-back exits in brutal fashion.
First over at table Tom Feilding, and on a board of Jc 3s 7s
Stuart Milne makes it 5k to go. Laura Rhoden raises to 15k. Stuart shoves all in for 25k total, and Laura calls the extra 10k.
Stuart Js Kh
Laura Jd Td
The turn and river are dealt:
8c 9s
And Stuart is out.
-
Then straight after, on table Martin Foreman, a pre-flop confrontation between Martin and Mike Cucciniello.
Mike has Aces
Martin has Nines.
The first card out is another 9. Martin"s set remains good to the river, and we lose Mike in 23rd place.
Mike Cucciniello
-
Debjani Duncan down in 22nd place - she shoves her stack from the SB with Q3 - about 24k - Richard Rudling Smith has an Ace which holds up and we lose Debjani
(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-r5DPORwQk_M/Uf5bvC356zI/AAAAAAAA6Iw/03vLrcc86s0/s512/IMG_5723.JPG)
Richard Rudling-Smith
-
Tom Feilding (e before i!), who as a winning team member in the APAT Team Championships a record three times(!), has to be one of the favourites to take the title today.
He"s been steadily building his stack in the first couple of levels, and is now on 180k.
Tom with less chips than he has now.
-
Sean Priest knocks out Kelvin Gray in an all-in-pre-flopper.
Ac 2s of Kevlin vs 7d 7s of Sean.
The board runs out
Kd Jd 10d Qd 4c
Sean says "Nice hand" and taps the table, thinking he"s lost to a straight. After a few seconds, the dealer points out the flush, and Sean is rewarded with the pot.
Kelvin "Fifty Shades of" Gray.
-
Lucy Amos gone in 20th - Lucy wont allow me to display a photo of her...not sure why - she is very photogenic!
-
We are now down to 19 players, which means we are 1 player off breaking to 2 tables! Exciting!! :)
-
Gareth JOhns doubles through James Fisher - his QQ holding off the KJ of James - about 110k pot
-
Chris Webber gets Sean Priest to lay down top pair on a A75 board - the board being all hearts being enough to cause Sean to fold to Chris"s shove over the top of his bet - Chris showing KQ, with the K being of hearts
-
Tom Feilding loses 2 sizeable flips in a row. The latest vs Ian Thompson whose aipf shove of 33,200 with Qd Kd vs Tom's 6c 6d wins when the board is dealt Jd Ac 3d 3s Kc.
Ian doubles up.
-
Day 2 chip leader James Fisher amazingly gone - lost alot of big pots and finally Richard Rudyard-Smith puts him out of his misery - Richard had raised pre flop to 7k, James called - flop comes JTT - both check, turn is a 3, Richard bets another 7k, James announces all in for what was 42k after a count - Richard calls and shows AJ - James 73 - and though the river is a 7, its still not enough and we lose James in 19th place

Is lightning about to strike twice???
It has a distinct chance, as Darren Underhill shoves UTG for his 64k stack - almost gets it through but has to get past the BB of Warren Jones who looks at his cards, agonises...and eventually makes the call with QQ.
Darren tables A8 and the board runs dry for him.
Darren out in 16th place - Warren now ominously with around 150k in front of him.

-
Thanks to Steve Redfern, who"s brought it to my attention that this thread was locked. Not sure how that happened. It is now unlocked :)
-
Is this the first time anyone"s won back2kcab APAT's? #luckboxforthewin ;)
Very well done!
Thanks to all APAT guys for your efforts and also to all the Cardiff Grosvenor staff.
P.S. I knew I should have taken the "overs" on number of drinks knocked over/spilled... 40 was much too low a figure!

Yes.
Carl Pilgrim sort of do it too but it over 3 events as he didn"t play the one in between his 2 wins.
-
Congrats Warren, hell of an achievement.
-
Fantastic achievement Warren - chuffed for you!!
-
Ridiculous achievement - Congratulations Warren.
It"s clearly not the best cardroom we go to with APAT but I"d like to complement their staff, TD and (majority of) dealers for making the most of what they have.

^^This.
We had a lively table on Saturday, and the dealers joined in the banter whilst managing to keep good control of the play. The valets and card-room staff were also great. Tiny card room, but great staff. Big shout out!!

True, but the card room is not good enough for this event, it makes the event too small, and there is a good one a mile away. I would like to see this event moved to Les Croupiers next year, if they will not host it maybe it is time to look at Swansea or Bristol (there does not have to be a WELSH Championship, would rather see it dropped for a bigger event in Bristol).
Anyway as far as Warren goes I have watched both final tables all the way through and have to say that the standard of his play was probably the best I have seen in these events. He adjusted in style really well to the two different tables and changed gears exactly when he needed too it seemed. He made some great reads and calls and seemed to just out think his opponents, picking off bluffs and using his big stack well, I think I only saw him get it in behind twice and both times he had enough chips to recover. He seems untiltable as well which is a big advantage. Basically I said it after Coventry and will say it again now one of the best performances I have seen at at apat and overall in my opinion the best performance by any player taking both of the last two events into account.
It has been said before but, great result, great player, great bloke. Well done mate.

What the cardroom situation in Swansea?
Didn"t Aspers close?
Are there alternatives?
... (there does not have to be a WELSH Championship
I know (or am fairly sure) Des would disagree

Correct. :)

Congrats Warren, sick run.
Can someone else have a go? (No, not you, Carl)
-
Great weekend and 2 welsh winners, perfek.
Only gripe, as others have said, is the card room. It"s not the dealers or the staff it"s the size of the room, it is just too small for an APAT event.
I know i"m not the only one who loves coming to Cardiff, but who would not go back next year if it were held in this casino again. :(
-
An amazing achievement! Well done Warren!

This though.
10 handed tables, crammed in like sardines, impossible to get a drink, food, go to the toilet, clocks paused after breaks to try and get everyone back in their seats, etc. It must be a nightmare for the updaters as well. If I am going to make a 300+ mile round trip where expenses > buyins then the poker "product" better be good and this weekend wasn"t good enough to carry the APAT brand.

Amazing result by an amazing player!! .. Just wish he was English ;D ..
Guess we have to race to win a third now, Ben may even come out of retirement ?
See you in Nottingham Warren if Steve has a spot for you I guess :D :D
-
Ridiculously good result, Warren - vwp. Now if you could only beat Chalks in the White Hart home game lol ;D

I wonder how deep the rail would be if we get Warren Vs Carl heads up in Nottingham. Also there are plenty of spots for Warren, it"s a team that is the issue :-) Would legit pay to see that happen.
As far as my comments on the Casino go I do have to say that yesterday the dealers, floor staff and waitresses were first class, happy chatty and helpful. In fact yesterday the place was good but with the number of tables in the cardroom and 10 players per table it is just too small and nothing can be done about that.
Mark and Matt also did the usually great job of apat organizers do and made everybody feel welcome. It was the perfect size for the plo side event, the main event though, there is really only one cardroom in Wales with the facilities to hold this event and they don"t want us it seems :-(
Swansea Grovsnor is OK but small unless they put extra tables in elsewhere.

Totally agree with Curly, Rodders and Mark.
Debjani and I also decided on the way home that we wouldn"t be going back to that card room if APAT (or anyone else) holds an event there again. Not knocking any of the people who work there, just the space is too small. And even when crammed in, there"s only 110 runners.
Having said that great craic as always.
Warren is a monster. Out-pilgriming the pilgrim an immense achievement!!!
-
congrats warren brilliant achievement
-
Another excellent performance from Warren, many congratulations!
Can only echo what others have said, excellent staff/valets etc, but just too small...
The only compromise I can see to continue playing is to have 2 day 1"s and only have say 9 tables running. Definitely not an ideal, but would likely boost the numbers and make it much more comfortable. The downside being of course, 2 day 1"s and all the associated costs/admin involved.

We played there last year with the same gripe, I know I wasn"t the only one who somewhat happily ventured back despite the small card room. Given I knew what to expect, it was thoroughly enjoyable.
Congrats Warren!

Staff - Awesome
Dealers - Very Good on the whole, feisty though!
Food - Awesome
Space - Awful!!
-
Had a great weekend starting with posh dinner and dancing with a dwarf on Friday and ending with hilariously funny chicken take away story from Dan Owston on Sunday.
Thanks to everyone who sent PM"s or messaged in support - was much very appreciated even if I didn"t quite make it.
Completely worthy winner in Warren - soz didn"t come to congratulate you when Andy did but by then I"d had a couple of hours in the bar with above mentioned Mr Owston so would have been messy! ;D Truly amazing achievement though!
-
Wow, really chuffed. Excellent stuff again Warren, and Dylan.
Wish i could of been there.
Wp, hope to see y"all soon. :) :)
-
Sorry and Dai the spy........Shhh!!!
Always in there guv. :)
-
.....and you moan about Walsall!!
Grosvenor Cardiff was ****e in 2009 and apparently is no better now...so why go back there??

I live in Cardiff, so I would like it to stay here. I do agree that it was pretty tight in there (and I"m not just talking about my betting range ;)).
To be fair, you could always hold the Welsh Open in Bristol if necessary. The fact that the PCA is in the Bahamas, doesn"t stop it being on the European Poker Tour.
