Hello to all of the APAT Universe - Mark the Shark here, who will be hosting the UKCOAP and reporting to you live from Dusk till Dawn, Nottingham, as Day 1 gets underway later today, with the first session of the Home International Team Event and the Pot Limit Omaha Championship - both starting at 6pm.
TEAM EVENT
Team Captains will need to come and see me to collect (and pay for!) their Team Shirts, as well as collect your Team Sheets to indicate which of your members will be playing at which table. Please complete these as soon as possible (and as much as possible) and hand back to me for entry onto my spreadsheet - you can have them back thereafter should you wish.
We will require full team photographs, but for sake of ease we will do this on Saturday at approx 13:30 - so if you could all be present and looking resplendant in your Team Shirts that would be great.
At the moment we have 7 full teams - we remain hopeful that there will be a Scotland "B" team - but if not, then tables will be 7 handed and Scotland B will be placed 8th on each table. Their table seat will be vacant - with other players taking their appointed seat as per the Table Draws.
Standings and results/performances will be updated regularly and displayed via the tournament specific "At A Glance" thread.
POT LIMIT OMAHA
Still spaces available and Late Registration open for first three levels - so if you fancy playing - get yourself down!!
So...lets have some predictions!!

-
Dan Dennehy down in the PLO. Shoving on the turn with nearly a complete wrap and a flush draw but the river yields a 2 to give his opponent a straight. And that dashes Dan"s hopes of beating his 5th place in PLO at WCOAP.

Two Players gone in the Team Event :
Match 2 and Ireland B lose their player - Stephen Byrne
Match 3 and the first Team Captain gets eliminated - Stuart Ward for England B
-
Starting to get a little boisterous as team players get eliminated with ever more frequency....and most of the ones standing up are donning white shirts......
-
As players and stacks dwindle in the PLO... it means we start to get the big stacks really pull away. Ones to watch mid way through Level 4:
Chris Webber
Celia Liu
Shaun Percival
Paul Haycock (who is accused of being the table bully by Shaun)
-
At a glance thread has Gordon seated for Scotland. Points list has suzanne. Who is playing?

Suzanne was unable to attend, so Gordon is playing in her stead.
-
If anyone has any chip count or progress requests, let us know and we will try our best.
-
Tod Wood accounts for Ger Smyth in the Team Event - his pocket 8 being good enough to beat Ger"s AQ.
-
Players called back to PLO to commence level 5, blinds 150/300.
Tables 22 and 33 are looking fairly balanced. Table 21 is still being ruled by Chris Webber and Celia Liu. Table 32 sees Shaun and Paul continuing to grow their stack whilst table 23 shows a pretty hefty stack for Sean Belton.
-
Jane Blacklock was also eliminated shortly before the break

Match 1 update at the Team Event
Down to three - IRE A v IRE B v ENG B - and as i write John Murray goes in 3rd so its Dann Williams v Brian Frew HU
Match 2 update
4 handed here and Wales A have a healthy chip lead over Scotland, England B and Wales B
Match 3 update
Looks like its all Ireland , as IRE B and IRE A hold a good chip advantage over WAL A - the rest gone
Match 4 update
Amazingly still 7 handed!!! Although again as i write Dai Roberts gets eliminated for Wales B, so they go to 6 handed play...at last!
-
And then Adam Sharples takes out Paulie Davis on Match 4
-
Two eliminations on Table 32
All in pre-flop, Dave Burt shows KK1010 double suited, Dwayne Stacy shows AA double suited and Michael Harvey shows AA single suited.
Board plays out rainbow and uneventful... until the river shows a 10, giving Dave a set and busting Aces twice in one hand.

Not much action to report :
Steve Redfern pots Chris Webbers SB raise much to Chris"s chagrin, who seems to let Steve talk him into folding.....
But still 13 handed in the PLO and no real short stacks, after the carnage of the previous few levels.
In the Team Event, Round 1 leaders Scotland "A" are seemingly NLHE ponies...Clare Duffy and James Ellis are the only casualties of the PLO round - although Clare can count herself very unlucky - the 2c being the one card she didnt want to see...but sadly did.
-
Dave Burt has 15k on the felt pre-flop, only to see Chris Webber shove. Dave takes a good time to think but reluctantly mucks. Chris shows AKQ4 rainbow. The grinding of Dave"s teeth can be heard throughout most of Nottinghamshire...
-
All in pre-flop action sees the hand of A Player with AQJJ walk into Steve Redfearn"s AA9J. The board provides nothing to help and we are down to 12 players.
-
Favorite overheard comment at the table do far..
When a player was trying to decide whether to to muck or show his hand, another player describes it as "being like foreplay"
-
Shaun Percival is out in 12, taken out by Leon Blackwell. After a very tight few levels, we still have 2 players to lose before hitting the cash.
-
On the bubble now in the PLO as we lose Matthew Dent in 11th.
He calls the pre-flop all in of Lee Strange and his 7736 has no help on the board so all of his chips go to the KKK9 of Lee
Matthew

Great job with the Omaha pix Mark. Any from the home ints?
-
Hand for hand action in the PLO and the short stack - Dave Burt doubles up.
The small blind Asa Mcgrath shoves into his BB. Asa shows KK94 but getting them when he needs to, Dave has AA63. The board comes down with three Jacks so a nice full house in the big blind.
-
Is Mark running the show on his own here?
If so, doing a great job
-
Great job with the Omaha pix Mark. Any from the home ints?
Taken more table shots that individual today mate - planning on doing that (more) tomorrow as the tourney enters the "business end" of play - but some to follow for a flavour of the event

Bubble has now gone in PLO. Paul Haycock will not be joining the rest of the players on the final table as his can could not best Chris Webber"s pocket 10 10

Alas i cannot take full credit - i have an assistant in Cat Jones who is doing a great job in helping me keep up with events and happenings from here at DTD.
great job, the pair of you
I"m particularly impressed that you managed a picture of stu at a poker table. You must have been quick ;D ;D ;D
-
Match 6 its Joe Carr-Hill (ENG A) v Gavin Jones (WALES A)
Match 7 John Murray (IRE B) v Kevin O Hanlon (IRE A) v Darren Underhill (WAL A)
Match 8 Dann Williams (ENG B) v Tod Wood (ENG A) v Warren Jones (WALES A)
-
Adam Sharples wins Match 5 for England A
-
Dann Williams exits Match 8, leaving Tod Wood the seemingly impossible task of being able to beat Warren Jones!!!
-
Good luck to Steve, Leon and John on the PLO final table, who was on my table of death at the start lol
-
First casualty of final table is Sean Belton.
Pot raises UTG, is re-potted by John Wood. Sean calls and has the advantage, his AA65 vs KK83.
However two 8"s come on the board. Sean cashes £110 for 9th.
-
8th place falls to Dave "Chucky" Burt.
His 10 10 9 J double suited did not have any help from the board when he ran it into Chris" AAxx. Dave cashes £125
(https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Mgqqpq7LnM4/UhfS8gtRCtI/AAAAAAAA6Ww/JmfSJ85P1c0/s512/IMG_5827.JPG)
-
did someone say Warren Jones cant be beaten??????
Well..................
HE CANT!!!!!!!!!!!
Warren overturns a large chip deficit against Tod Wood to win his 2nd SNG of the night.
The man is simply unstoppable!
Match 7 sees a win for Kevin O"Hanlon, who beats Darren Underhill.
Just awaiting the outcome of Joe Carr-Hill and Gavin Jones to complete the Team Event for the night
-
We lose Asa is 7th.
All in pre-flop vs Leon. Asa has KK75 and Leon 33KA
Flop comes down 3 5 6 ... much to the eye rolling of Leon. Turn comes a Q and the river a 4 giving Leon the straight.
Asa takes home £139
(https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vw6G2kGBIe0/UhfS79iQiLI/AAAAAAAA6Wo/OFcwyPsmJXM/s512/IMG_5826.JPG)
-
6th place goes to Ben Burnhill
All in pre-flop vs Steve Redfern who can"t fold after a raise. Ben shows 8 10 Q A. Steve has 2 J K A.
Board comes 10 J 7 7 5 and the pair of Jacks is enough to see Steve scoop the pot
Ben takes home £160.
-
Another big pot slides it"s way over to chip lead Chris.
Lee, Chris and Leon see a flop after a raise
2s 10h 3c
Chris bets and both call
Ah and is checked round
River comes 8s and Chris bets 23.5k. Leon goes into the tank but finds a fold but Lee calls.
Chris shows his set of aces and Lee mucks
-
Joe Carr-Hill sneaks past Gavin Jones and takes the win for England A
That completes Day 1 of the Team Event - all tables are updated ready for tomorrows play - England A leading the way, but its still very close.
-
very much the grind on the PLO FT - we remain 5 handed but all players are very well stacked, and with blinds still at 3k/6k, they have plenty of play in those stacks.
Most action is between Chris Webber and Leon Blackwell, who seem determined to 3 bet each other to death...seems likely they will clash soon....
-
Monster pot!
Steve vs Chris all in on a flop of
Kc 5c 7d
Steve shows Qc 9c 2h 5h and Chris shows 8s Qh kd 5d
Turn comes Jh but a river is the Ac giving Steve his flush.
Chip lead Chris has his stack destroyed as 114.5k makes it"s way to Steve
-
Man down in the PLO....
and it is Lee Strange who exits in 5th place.
Steve Redfern raises from first position and Lee makes the call from the BB.
Flop comes 52Q - Lee checks, Steve bets, Lee goes all in - Steve calls, showing KQJ4 for top pair, but miles behind Lee"s set of ducks - holding 8822.
But the turn is a T and the river a 9, giving Steve the straight and sending Lee to the rail in 5th place.
Steve massive chip leader now.
Lee Strange
-
Chris and Leon do clash as the chips fly in - it looks grim for Chris as his 6899 falls well behind the ATT2 of Leon with the flop showing A4A....a Jack on the turn means Chris is dead to a 9....but it duly arrives and he doubles through.
-
Leon Blackwell down in 4th - and its that man Steve Redfern again - all the chips go in preflop with Leon tabling 53TA to Steves KKQT - 8T9J6 giving Steve the straight and meaning Leon goes in 4th place
(https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZRURsABxzRQ/UhfS66v0gwI/AAAAAAAA6Wg/GHTKqSd5Xd0/s512/IMG_5825.JPG)
Leon Blackwell
-
Chris Webber down in the 3rd place - the chips go in on a flop of 273 - Chris holding 9922 - but its that man again Steve Redfern who seems will not be denied - holding JJ67 a Jack arrives with stunning timing - a 3 on the river irrelevant to send Chris out.
So its Steve Redfern v John Wood heads up for the PLO Championship.
John immediately doubles through to bring a little parity to the stacks.
Chris Webber
-
After going into heads up massive lead, the tables have turned against Steve and now it is John with the mountain of chips.
A fairly unassuming pot formed, the flop and turn came down 7c 4d 8s Kd
John bets 20K and Steve calls. River comes 4s. John opens the betting at 40k but we end up with both players all in and John showing down a full house with 772A and Steve 4358.
-
We have our winner!
In the final hand, the chips were all in pre-flop.
John has Q38A and Steve KK26
And the Ace one the river is enough to make John Wood the UKCOAP PLO gold medalist!

2013 United Kingdom PLO Champion - John Wood
Very well played to John Wood, who looked like a winner right from the start. Props to Steve and Chris for medal finishes. Another really enjoyable event by APAT.

Just read through this - awesome update thread!
Great tourney - well played John :)
Unlucky Chris - that Jack on the turn was conjured by Prof X himself!
