Title: Eurovision 2014
Post by: Matt D on May 07, 2014, 15:30:32 PM
Anyone going to be watching this weekend? Who"s your money on?

I think Ukraine will walk it this year, and represent pretty good value at 9/1 on Coral: http://affiliate.coral.co.uk/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_11938b_7

UK, whilst 3rd favourite at 6/1, should be a lock to finish near the bottom again.

Russia also likely to finish in the bottom 5.

Whilst I"m at it, here"s a special Sweepstake for the event: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=15439.0

Play for fun/glory, or place a bet to qualify for the added value :)

Is anyone not going to be watching?

One of the highlights of the year.

I"m still getting over the disappointment of Latvia being cruelly overlooked for the final.

Of the bunch that got through yesterday, Iceland are my faves.

I thought Ukraine opened quite strongly. They"ll certainly win the UK phone vote.

What the heck is this next effort though?...

She"s very pretty and a nice song, but why are you so certain they"ll get the most votes?

I think it was a good song, well performed with great imagery. Coupled with a possible protest/sympathy vote - that UK are historically pretty famous for making - gives it the edge in our phone vote imo.

Actually, all the songs have been pretty good so far, aside from the one about the cake.

You think so? I"d just been thinking that they had all been disappointing so far (apart from Ukraine obv).

Yeah, I liked 4 of the first 5. The only one I didn"t like was the cake song. I haven"t liked 6,7,8,9 tho.

Poland!

Sounded quite like "Prince Charming". Didn"t look like it though.

I thought the Austrian song was very good, meaningful lyrics too. Brought the house down.

We have opposite tastes. I hated Netherlands. Also hated the UK, so I suppose you liked that too.

How awkward did Graham Norton look then? Mid-slagging off the co-hosts for being unfunny, and they call him out on it.

Toe-curlingly awkward.

My favourites were Ukraine, Austria, Azerbaijan, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands.

I think some of the worst were Germany (boo), Belarus, and France.

Top 3 will be:

Sweden
Austria
Ukraine

UK will finish 6th from bottom.

UK will vote for:
Ukraine
Austria
Poland

(in any order).

I think last year"s winner, Emmelie de Forest, should win it again for her Shakiraesque performance. One of the best tonight.
