Holly Lamb is out, running a set of nines into a set of Jacks. Blind vs blind.
The hand played out thus:
Small blind raises. Holly flats.
Board KJ8.
Check-Check.
Turn is the killer 9. Opponent leads out for 5,200. Holly raises. Her opponent jams, and Holly makes the call.
The river is a meaningless brick, and Holly heads to the rail.
Holly in happier times.
-
Chris Phillips all in the flop with a flush draw vs a paired Ace. The draw doesn"t arrive and Chris is out.

Dave Riches
I arrive at the table to witness an all in between Dave Riches and Jack Kendall. Dave has Kings, Jack Ace King. (that reads better as Dave has Kings, whereas Jack Kendall has Ace King :) ).
The turn is being dealt as I arrive and is a bricklet, to go with the 3 bricks from the flop. However, as is so often the case when huge pots are at stake (and this one looks to be over 300k!), the Ace arrives on the river.
Jack has Dave just covered, meaning Dave is out and Jack just about doubles to a monster stack.

Huge congratulations to Emily on going deep (29/152) on her first ever live poker tournament.

20 players left... Blinds are 3000/6000, ante 600. Average 114k.
-
3 all-ins in a row. One on each table.
On table Duffy, Adrian is all in. Everyone folds and he picks up the blinds and antes.
On table Gale, Brendan Payne is all in. Everyone folds and he picks up the blinds and antes.
On table Greenan, Amit Patel is all in from the small blind. Big blind of Jack Kendall makes the instant call with Aces.
Amit shows AJo. Jack Ac Ah
Board: Qc 7c 5c 3c 6d
The flush sends Amit to the rail. We are now down to 19 players and playing hand-for-hand.
-
Chipcount for Craig Dodd please
-
Hand-for-hand on the bubble.
A couple of all-ins.
Mark Morris all in, everyone folds to pick up the blinds.
Mark Porter pre-flop raise, is met by a shove of Forum Poker Group"s Dan Crabbe. Mark makes the call.
Mark"s nines are flipping against Dan"s AQ.
The board is dealt: 7d Jc Qh 6h 6c
And Dan doubles up, claiming a 104k pot.
-
Chipcount for Craig Dodd please
Craig never actually counts his chips, feeling it to be pointless to do so... But as an estimate I"d say he has 90k. He says he"s enjoying the tournament, and feeling good :)
As I join his table he makes an under the gun raise to 15.5k which is good enough to take the blinds and antes. He"s now up to 100k (as a guess) :)
-
Remaining players" chip counts to follow once the bubble has burst.
-
Stu Greenan all in. Picks up the blinds and antes. Frome Poker Group, still have 4 players left in the final 19! Stu himself, Dan Crabbe, Anthony Spillings, Mark Morris. If this was a team game they"d be killing it!!....
-
Remaining on table Greenan for now, Jake Dursley limps, Andrew Watts raises to 17k and Jake jams.
Andrew folds KT face up. Jake is cajoled into showing, and tables Q7o for a nice bluff :)
-
Come on Claire TID ! ;)
-
Come on Claire TID ! ;)
*Duffy ! ( :D ) (she has 50k).
-
Anthony Gale all in with a pair of Tens for 55k. He is called by the Ah Kh of Anthony Spillings, and we"re off to the races.
First card out is a Ten, and Anthony S. congratulates Anthony G.
3d 7c completes the flop.
The turn is a scare of Jh...
but the river is a harmless 5d, and AG doubles up.
We are still on le bubble
-
There"s been quite a few all-ins and calls, with the short stack winning the confrontation each time.
If anyone reading this (and in the casino) fancies giving a hand observing one of the tables, give me a shout! :)
-
Blinds up to 4000/8000/800. Still 19 players left. The average is 120k.

I talked him into playing his first Apat so good to know he is having fun :)
-
The bubble has burst. Details to follow...
-
And our unlucky bublee is Liam Oliver. Liam"s shove with A8o for not a lot of chips is called by the AK of Dominic Hine.
Liam doesn"t improve, and the bubble is burst!.
-
Duffy has won a large pot. Details to follow...
edit: she hasn"t. It was overheard table banter, that turned out not to be a real event...
-
Mark Porter has limped into the prizes with 0.8 of a big blind. He"s since doubled up twice though, so running at about 35k in chips.

This is Dan Crabbe"s 3rd APAT event.
In his first ever APAT event he finished 5th/240 (APAT Team Event).
For his second game, he recorded another Final Table (9th in the Main Event of the WCOAP at Aspers).
He"s marked the occasion of his 3rd game, by making it 3 cashes from 3 attempts - and he"s not done yet... Will he make it 3 final tables from 3?...

he folded to a 3bb shove with an ace ? but perhaps thats why he is still in bristol and I am sitting at home !!

14th place for Nigel King. All in preflop for 14k from the small blind, holding the majestic Dolly 95o. Called by 63o of Jack Kendall.
Board 36A and he was drawing very slim already...
No help on the turn or river, and Nigel finishes in 14th. That"s good for £110.
-
Mark Porter is out in 13th place. Shoved with A9, called by Tens. No help. Mark takes £160.
-
Fast(ish) approaching the final table. We"re now down to the final 12.
-
2 big hands back to back...
On one table, and on a board of 6c 8d 9c 10s
Jake Dursley bets out 12k into a pot of 30k. Jack Kendall min-clicks back to 24k.
Jake calmly makes it 55k to go. Jack asks for a count....
The stacks are pretty even....
Jack is all in!!....
Jake folds...
Jack shows J7o.
-
At the exact same time on the other table, Duffy is all in with Kings, vs. her opponent Roger Smith"s Queens.
The board blanks all the way, until the sickener of a Queen arrives on the river (!)...
Duffy is down to fumes (4k = 40% of a bigblind), and is out the next hand...
-
And whilst I"m typing that up, Roger Smith knocks another player out, again on the river....
This time Stu Greenan is the unlucky chap.
The hand played out thusly:
Roger holding 9s 10s raises to 28k (2.8x bb). Stu Greenan goes all-in for 52k, and Roger - now pot committed - has to make the call.
Again the board runs out very safely for his opponent.. Right until the river.... which lands a fateful Nine, besting Stu"s Sevens.
Stu Greenan finishes 10th for £160.

Well done Emily, crackin result x
She says thank you for the support especially from you and Duffy - Emily has just about downgraded her "crushing disappointment" into "overwhelming disappointment" that she didn"t win the whole thing. So a good sign that she has the mentality of a future champion :D

We are now on a 20 minute break. Full chip counts and a table draw to follow...

~In related news, having typed "Jack" Kendall for the past 2 days, I read the list of player names... and spot that he is listed as "Jake" Kendall on the casino system/player list.
Going back through the last 4 pages and changing every instance of "Jack" for "Jake", I then ask the player.... and find I was right the first time after all. brb, just going to change all the Jake"s for Jack"s :D

They"ve both been enjoying an incredible run of late (check their hendon mobs!).

Jake Dursley all in on a flop of Jd 7c 6d. It"s enough to scare Daniel Crabbe off the pot.

Jake makes the instant type of call that can only mean one thing. And sure enough, it is.
Black Aces for Jake. Roger has AJo.
No craziness on the board (834TT rainbow-stylee) and Roger is out. 5th for £740.

We are now heads up between local Rainbow players Jack Kendall and Jake Dursley.
Jake has final tabled Rainbow"s showcase event "The Masters" 3 times. He has been heads up at this venue once before, and finished 2nd.
Jack has also been heads up at this venue once before. That time he won.
Will history repeat itself?....
-
It"s pretty even here between Jack and Jake. Both look to be sporting stacks of around 1,140,000.
There"s 2,280,000 in play in total.
For the winner it"ll be a £3,670 pay day, plus an APAT Gold Medal, plus entry into the APAT WCOAP Main Event, plus - and very possibly the best part - the title of APAT Welsh Amateur Poker Champion!
For the runner-up, the consolation of £2,050 and an APAT Silver Medal.
-
Like 2 boxers in a ring, both seem to be sizing each other up and making cautious jabs at each at other (and the pot).
Both have played a great game thus far with many pinpointing this very duo from 20+ players out as being the final 2 left sitting. It would be incredibly hard to pick an eventual winner, but the tide seems to be slowly turning in the direction of Jake Dursley...
Jake 1.3m, Jack 900k.
-
Some live hands from the encounter:
1) Jake raises to 60k. Jack makes it 150k to go. Jake makes the call. 8d 5s 9h
Jack checks. Jake carefully measures out 162k in chips, and slowly pushes them across the line.
Jack thinks...
and thinks....
time passes...
-
Jack"s all in!!...
-
Jake folds, so we"re on to the next hand.
60k to go, and a call. Both check the flop. Both check the turn. Both check the river. Jack"s King high on a board of rags is good enough to take the pot.
-
The tide has turned a wee bit, with Jack now getting the better of Jake in a few spots/pots.
Jake has 880k
Jack has the rest. (1.4m)

Jake Dursley makes it 80k to go. Jack calls.
It"s check-check-checkity all the way down on another raggy board. This time it"s Jake with the King-high, which is good enough to add 160k to his stack.
-
Back to even stacks now, it"s Jake"s turn to raise. Jack folds.
Next hand, Jack is first to act, and raises to 95k. Jake thinks about it, and starts to measure out a collection of chips - enough for a fairly chunky raise...
230k to go.
Jack calls.
Qs Ac 4h
Jake methodically measures out another 182k, and slides it across the bet line.
Jack finds the fold fairly quickly, and a chunky 460k+ pot heads Jake"s way.
-
Now it"s Jack to act. He makes it 80k. Jake calls.
A board of A s 6d 10h is checked by Jack. Jake you feel, is applying the pressure well now, and makes it 88k to go.
Jack calls quickly.
The 3h turn is checked by Jack.
Jake fires out another 128k. Almost before it crosses the line Jack announces "all-in"....

Jack folds 7s face up, tapping the table to acknowledge a nicely timed bet from his opponent.
And so it goes, we are on to the next hand...
Jack, mixing it up a little, makes a flat call from the button this time. Jake exploits this by raising to 95k and Jack calls...
7s 2c 2h
This time it"s 106k from Jake.
Jack reaches for a stack of blacks....
-
Pushing them across the line in such a manner that they slowly cascade to the table surface, the bet is revealed to be 325k.
Jake quickly folds.
-
A raise and a call gives us an all spade flop: Ks 6s 10s
Jake makes a much smaller bet this time. 81k. Is this a massive show of strength? ... Jack calls.

Though they"ve now headed back to Jack again... This is a great heads up between two skilful players. I don"t think we"ve seen one hand folded pre flop yet.
-
Back to almost even stacks again (Jake 1.2m and Jack 1m)...
Jack raises to 150k. Jake jams for 1.2m and Jack calls very quickly.
Whoever wins this pot wins the game. If Jake wins he"ll bust Jack. If Jack wins, Jake will be left with just 200k and you"d fear no way back.

All that remains is to say a massive thanks to everyone here at Rainbow Casino. I think this is probably the most flawless and professionally run APAT event I"ve witnessed.
Thanks to Alan, Serg, and the rest of the cardroom staff for putting on such a great show. Thanks to all the valets, dealers, and other staff who were cheerful and helpful throughout.
Thanks also to Tom for his updates.
Until next time. Stay classy Bristol :)

For the big hand in question, we see a flop of 358...I check, Jo leads for 35k, I check raise pot, Jo jams and I call. Jo has 8442 and I have A776...turn 3 and river 3 so my pocket pair in the hole plays...
Would just like to thank Matt and Tom for their hard work throughout the weekend...all well organised because of you both and Had a great time as usual.

You can"t beat heads-up for excitement.

lol JM. It was actually a very exciting seesaw of a heads up between Tom and Jo. Admittedly that doesn"t come across in the photo :)

Just off to fix a few typos in reports above. When you"ve Jack vs Jake and Jake has Jacks with Ace Jake on the board, it can get a bit confusing! :D

Mark Porter has limped into the prizes with 0.8 of a big blind. He"s since doubled up twice though, so running at about 35k in chips.
This does very little for my image Matt. 8)
Mark Porter makes a 3 big blind shove from the hijack seat. Dan Crabbe makes a reluctant fold showing a bare Ace.
Image pays off.
Great tournament by the way, nice to come back for a day 2 with chunks for once. Couldn"t convert but oh well. Onto the next one. Excellent casino, facilities, dealers etc. Good choice for future events.
