The site is definitely running slower, it takes upwards of 30 seconds to load every single page these days.
-
I"ll check with Phil TC as I"m also experiencing minor slowdown.
Might be a caching issue as some new images have just gone up.

R you still on dial up Ian? slower than a CAPPER bet LOL
-
Slower than a table dealt by Fish with Capper and Our Dave on it :)
-
Pretty much impossible to use now - getting bored of waiting 30 seconds for a page to load and then just see a Fast-CGI error.
FFS Phil TC - get a new hamster.... this one"s burned out!!

Have done some maintenance on the server this morning, upgraded the SMF (forum software) from 1.1.19 to 1.1.20.
Have switched off the reverse DNS settings and switched on some persistent MySQL database connection settings.
Have subbed one of the hamsters.
Seems to be a little quicker to me... fingers crossed.
-
Seems to be running a treat now. It was dreadful when trying to access updates at the weekend.
Well done that man!

Agreed, thanks Phil.

No wonder site was slow at the weekend - the hamster was in Leeds..... his running style was clearly "adjusted" by the Guinness!!

This is Phil basically saying " I turned it off...and then I turned it back on again". ::)

Amazing stuff Phil!
The site has been painfully slow recently, but is lightning fast now! Thank you! :)
Hopefully we"ll see an uptick in forum postings now it"s this fast! :)

Not seeing an issue either at home or at work...both 10mb+ connections
yep, me neither.
but then I posted my comment last night, not this morning ;)
Last night, trying to open any thread would take anything from 30 to 60 seconds (at times).

Running really slow today :(

It"s been slow-ish for a day or two up here in the grim North ;)
-
Running very quick here 8)
Is it your initial connection to the website.. sometimes that can be a little slower whilst it allocates a session.
All"s well that I can see.

It takes an age to load up, then any navigation round the site takes longer than usual(expected)

Odd.. seems OK for me. There"s some patches on the server to install will put them on later and do an off and on again. That should help. See what it"s like tomorrow.
-
Currently 30-40 seconds to load each page. Using Google Chrome, got BT Infinity, every other site is lightening fast... ???

It"s back to warp speed again, cheers Phil :)

was just looking for this thread to say it was taking an age to do anything on the forum again, but in the last 2 mins it seems to have sorted itself out!

Anyone noticed any improvements in performance with the forum over the weekend?
Tweaks have been tweaked.
For me the initial connection to the forum can take upto 5-10 seconds, but once on seems to be much quicker.
Would say "touches wood". But that would be all wrong.

Much improved lately :)
-
A lot better

Same as what Phil said - initially it takes ages but afterwards it flies.
One thing I have noticed when lagging is that at the bottom of my browser (I use Chrome) it often says "Waiting for www.facebook.com". I assume this is related to the buttons that allow us to share forum posts and am wondering if it is this that is sometimes the cause of the slowdown?
-
Cheers Barry and Ian. Good to hear.

Could be a factor Adam, once cached its definitely much quicker. Will ask the boss if the Facebook link is worth keeping, not sure if anyone uses it TBH.

Happy to can that on a test basis Phil to see if it contributes to faster initial loading.
