Rob Swindell won last year"s points competition. These were the results, in case you need inspiration (the main event wasn"t part of the scoring):
APAT WSOP (http://1drv.ms/1thefl3)
I have already sent my team to Carl, so I won"t be able to steal your amazing players.

Does the scoring need looking at for the ME part?
-
Does the scoring need looking at for the ME part?
?? There is no separate ME competition so same points as rest of series, although it"s a far larger field granted.
-
i don"t think anybody wants this competition going on until November.
Blonde are doing "Points for the Main Event will be 10 points for making the final table and 5 points for making the money "
think we should do something similar? They score differently though .. "Points will be 5 points for winning, 3 points for making the final table (as designated by the WSOP) and 1 point for making the money"
I would suggest their scoring for the ME could work fine for us too?

All information will be sourced from wsop.com

That"s interesting. Most of those have been picked by someone in our competition. Of that list, only Esfandiari, Rast, Hastings, Shak, Schwartz and Hennigan have been spurned by all our selectors. The others are all on someone"s team (or on quite a lot of teams in the case of Ms Ho).
I"ll post up the teams later - just waiting for a couple of clarifications.

Ohhh exciting looking forward to see the picks..
Regarding late registration.. Are we willing to take them up till 12pm tonight? I know a couple of guys wanted to enter but thought they was too late, obv they wouldn"t score any points in events started..

Shouldn"t really, but I don"t suppose anyone will object. I won"t tell anyone if you don"t. Tell them to get the bloody things in.
-
As Carl knows, I have a problem with my team, as I wanted to pick an all-female team, but no woman has ever won the Main Event. Looks like I have to choose between Hellmuth+7 or a seven-woman team, neither of which is really what I wanted.
-
Some teasers.
We have 23 entries, 2 more than last year.
67 players have been selected. Of those, 36 are repeats and 31 are new, while a staggering 30 of last year"s selections have been dumped by the unforgiving selectors.
These are the losers, who you included last time but not one of you now considers good enough for the WSOP, along with the number of times they were picked last year:
4 Antonio Esfandiari
4 David Vamplew
3 Yevgeniy Timoshenko
2 Annette Obrestad
2 Marvin Rettenmaier
1 Amir Lehavot
1 Barry Greenstein
1 Ben Lamb
1 Bobby Baldwin
1 Chris Moneymaker
1 Chris Klodnicki
1 Erika Moutinho
1 IIari Sahamies
1 Johnny Chan
1 Johnny Lodden
1 Jordan Westmorland
1 JP Kelly
1 Lukas Berglund
1 Mateusz Moolhuizen
1 Melanie Weisner
1 Mike Leah
1 Olivier Busquet
1 Paul Volpe
1 Phil Galfond
1 Sam Grafton
1 Sam Chartier
1 Stuart Rutter
1 Tom Schneider
1 Victoria Coren
1 Viktor Blom
They have been replaced by these rising stars, who no-one wanted to know last year, along with the number of times they have been picked this time:
8 George Danzer
3 Jake Cody
2 Bryn Kenney
2 David Kitai
2 Greg Merson
2 James Dempsey
2 Jason Summerville
2 Justin Bonomo
2 Ludo Geilich
2 Martin Jacobson
2 Melissa Burr
2 Patrick Leonard
2 Richard Ashby
2 Simon Deadman
1 Allyn Shulman
1 Amanda Musumeci
1 Billy Baxter

1 Dylan Linde
1 Isaac Haxton
1 Jason Wheeler
1 Joe Cada
1 Liv Boeree
1 Lu Zhang
1 Matt Glantz
1 Max Silver
1 Ryan Spittles

The biggest loss of confidence is in Sam Trickett, down from 8 selections last time to just 1 this time. Other than those listed above who were dropped completely, the biggest drops in support were:
2015 2014 -
1 8 -7 Sam Trickett
1 5 -4 Jonathan Duhamel
4 8 -4 Phil Ivey
6 10 -4 Ole Schemion
The player with the biggest increase in support, other than Danzer, is Maria Ho, who was picked just once last time but 8 times this year. Some of the largest increases were for players who already featured on a large number of teams:
2015 2014 +
8 1 7 Maria Ho
11 6 5 Stephen Chidwick
16 11 5 Daniel Negreanu
19 15 4 Phil Hellmuth
4 1 3 Calvin Anderson
It is fair to say that the ups and downs reflect the players" performances last year.
The one player with very strong support who features to just about the same extent as last year is Vanessa Selbst, who has been picked 13 times, down just 1 on last year despite a disappointing Series last time.

Some great picks guys... Looks like a few of your heroes are off to a good start..
-
Craig "Zozzy" Dawson has Bryn Kenny and Jason Wheeler in his squad.. Both nearing final table in event#2 and with Carlos Mortenson and Jason Somerville still in the shoot out and garunteed a point seems a superb start!!
-
With Event #1 complete, but not affecting us, the next four events are running. The current position in each of them is:
#2: 8 left on the final table and we still have Greg Merson (chip-leader), Bryn Kenney 2nd and Jason Wheeler in this. Jeremy Ausmus also cashed for Carl.
#3: This one isn"t looking great for us. With 117 to cash, there are 198 still in but we only have Scott Clements in the top 100, though Chris Bjorin, Calvin Anderson, Erik Seidel and Allyn Shulman are still hanging in. Pleased to see that Wing Wong is going well in this.
#4: There are 31 left and Craig McCorkell, Jason Somerville, Carlos Mortensen and Loni Harwood are still in and are already in the cash. [Doug Polk and Joe Cada are also still in, though does that matter?]
#5: The Colossus. The first group has just begun the final level of their day. At the start of the previous level there were 1,200 players still in. There seems to be a surprisingly high number of pros showing up in the chip-counts for an event that was expected to attract recs. I expect they"re just choosing the players they know. Carl will keep you up-to-date with minute-by-minute action from this tournament tomorrow.
-
Event#2.. Scoring
Bryn Kenny 5 points
Greg Merson 5 points
Jason Wheeler 5 points
Jeremy Ausmus 1 point
Great start for Zozzy picks up 10 points for Bryn and Jason, also gets points in the shootout Carlos Mortenson and Jason Somerville each cashing getting 1 point..
John will be cheering on his darling Loni Harwood on the FT of shootout garunteed 5 points, but can she snaffle a bracket and 10 points!!

Irish Tom must be a typo? cant see any of these players in his team.. ;D
-
We have a few scorers so far in #4, with Carlos Mortensen, Jason Somerville, Craig McCorkell, Doug Polk and Joe Cada all cashing, so points for Suzanne, Craig, Paxo, IrishTom and Adam Sz. Only one on the FT later today though - Miss Loni.
-
Irish Tom must be a typo? cant see any of these players in his team.. ;D
Okay, he didn"t really pick Howard Lederer as his captain. This is his real team:
| IrishTom |
ME Winner | Greg Merson |
British Player | Stephen Chidwick |
Female Player | Vanessa Selbst |
European Player | Martin Jacobson |
Wild Card | Doug Polk |
Wild Card | Calvin Anderson |
Wild Card | Joe Cada |

Loni gets involved in a big hand and then makes a move that takes the pot almost all the time, but runs into one of the few hands where she will get called and is almost wiped out. Gone soon after.
We had quite a few players in the money, all bunched together. Craig has two scoring players, Mortensen and Somerville. Suzanne also scores with Mortensen. Tom has Cada and Polk, with Polk as his captain, and Somerville is Adam"s captain. Paxo has McCorkell.
-
So, after four events, Craig has stormed into the lead, scoring four times already. He just needs to hold on for another 64 tournaments and the prize is his.
Craig | 12 |
Tom B | 8 |
Carl | 6 |
John | 6 |
Brian | 5 |
Adam | 2 |
Suzanne | 1 |
Paxo | 1 |
And these are the players who have done the business so far:

Greg Merson | 5 | 0 | 1 | 1 |
Jason Wheeler | 5 | 0 | 1 | 1 |

The shock news from Event 6 is that six players scored points, but Craig wasn"t one of them.
IrishTom and Carl scored as usual, Carl having both cashers (yawn), and they were joined by Barrie, Adam Sharples, Debbie and Paxo, but Craig somehow seems to have missed out. The WSOP has launched an investigation into Craig"s lack of points from this event, so results are subject to the outcome of that.

Clements, Glantz, Anderson, Kenney, Seiver, Chiu, Baxter, Bonomo and Hellmuth are still alive overnight in #7. When I say Hellmuth is alive, he is 56/56 with 4,000 chips. Chip leader has 147,000. Good luck.

What"s he doing - cashing in two events at the same time? It"s not right.
I picked that fecker on my team last year cos he had cashed loads in WSOPs before - don"t remember him doing much last year.

I picked that fecker on my team last year cos he had cashed loads in WSOPs before - don"t remember him doing much last year.
I had a quiet chat with him John and told him he needed to "up" his game this year!!

Event#5 The Colossus..
Scoring players so far..
Ryan Spittles
Eugene Katchalov
Allen Kessler.. ;D
Jeremy Ausmus (still in) ;D
Ausmus departs in 177th.. so the scoring players are the above!
So one point each for Adam Sh and Gareth and another two for Carl.
Carl - the new Craig!
Fandango in Points Manipulation Scandal
It has just been discovered that controversial poker figure Carl "Fandango" Pilgrim has been found to have misinformed scorers about points earned by competitors. As evidenced above, Mr Fandango advised that there were four scoring players in the Colossus poker tournament currently entering its final stages in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr Fandango omitted to state that another player had also cashed in this event, namely Martin Finger, who finished 516th, causing two entrants, Adam Szerlowski and Steve Ball, not to receive their due point. As a result of this act by Fandango, Szerlowski and Ball will have been regarded by the internet as having failed to score and being no better at picking teams than Simon (two of my players aren"t even playing) Lawlor, whereas they have actually got off the mark. Fandango"s continued participation in the competition is under review by the committee.

Break-time in Event #8, approaching the bubble. 79 left with 72 to cash - it"s probably gonna go in the next level. We have Cada, Duhamel and Moorman still running, none of whom looks likely to get to the final table. It is touch and go whether Moorman even makes the cash now, having got himself into a hole just before the break due to a bizarre pre-flop 3-bet/fold where he lost 40% of his already short stack.

Yep, that"s true - the Razz is a non-event for us.
Event#9.. Razzzzzzzz the most tilting form of poker know to mankind!!
And that"s even more true!
-
Silver and Danzer won their round-of-32 matches in the HU to make the cash and score one point. They will be desperate to win one more match and score an additional four points in the APAT competition. Elky and Smith failed to progress.
Adam Sz has Silver and eight people will be relieved that Danzer has finally made an impression, although not in one of the events that might have been expected. Craig"s lead has been eaten away by Tom and Carl but, no matter what happens, having Danzer as his captain means he will move ahead again after this.

Craig McCorkell riding high in #12.
Along with Pads, Calvin Anderson, Bryn Kenney. and Katchalov, all looking good to score points.
-
Can we get a win?
We currently have:
#11: David Chiu 1/19
#12: Craig McCorkell 5/109, Patrick Leonard 7/109, Bryn Kenney 19/109, Calvin Anderson ?/109
#13: Maria Ho 10/204, Scott Clements 17/204
I feel a win coming.
-
What is Allen Kessler like? Having cashed in #11 yesterday, he jumped into #13 and made Day 2. Eliminated from that after 90 minutes today at 3.30pm Vegas time, he was in his seat for the start of #15 at 4pm. This is a tough one - the $10k PLH. Only 27 playing so far, but it"s a starry field, including Keith Lehr, who has already won one bracelet today.

Samantha Abernathy Gets First WSOP Cash
Carl knows that I was desperate to get Samantha Abernathy into my all-female team. The problem was that no female has won the Main, so I ended up having to leave her out and threw in Hellmuth instead, but my real team is her plus the other seven women I picked.
This is someone who has never cashed in the WSOP. She only has three lifetime cashes of more than $2,500, one last year and two this year. However, she has an incredible knack for not just cashing, but finishing 1st in tournaments, including seven-in-a-row and 11/13 from her first ever win last March, all in Vegas. Of course, these fields are much more stacked that those she has come up against before, but she knows how to win.
She is taking part in #14, a $1,500 Hold'em Shootout. She was very low several times in the first round, but won her table in the end. 1,000 entries; 100 come back tomorrow, all already in the money, which is already her second-highest cash ever. I"m expecting her to do really well in this Series, hopefully with several cashes. The shootout format should suit her and I wouldn"t be at all shocked if she took the bracelet.
Also through in #14 are Bonomo, Chidwick and Keith from The Office.

Have I scored a point yet? I"m losing interest fast.

I pick him soley for the reason of volume he puts in.. Not on his ability tbh, he plays most of the events every year and has had numerous cashes a little like Frank Kassela who i see Curly picked this year shame he hasnt played yet lol

Nope. Your own fault - shudda picked better.
Bakes and Chidwick threatened a couple of times, but crashed. Similarly Negraneu, now that he has bothered to turn up.
Actually, you will be getting one as Chidwick won his first-round shootout.
It"s still early though - tons of tournaments still to go.

Haha Brooksy my man.. yes is the answer!! may even be 5 or 10 dependant on Chidders outcome in the shootout later.. BTW you picked the wrong David Baker :D he hasnt cashed this series yet, but the other David "ODB" Baker has..

Event#12.. scorers are Bryn Kenney, Scott Seiver, Pads, Katchalov, ...McCorkall still in so can he FT or Win!!
Event#13 alot like the Razz.. NADA
Event#14 as John has reported.. Chidwick and Bonomo progress into last 100
Event#15 still in are Seiver, Danzer, Kenney, Merson, Negranue and a very short stacked Ludo
Looks as though who picked Bryn Kenney and Greg Merson are happy so far, although Seiver looks like he might be hitting some form.. But along way to go!! maybe Simon can find some inspiration from Chidwick and not lose interest ;)

FML... you know you"ve got problems when Pilgsy and Murray taking potshots.
Your player lasted 8 minutes, donking off his whole stack of 74,000 chips in one hand at 300/600!
He then legged it without his ticket, apparently unaware that everyone who made Day 2 was in the money, leading to a farcical scene of WSOP staff trying to find him in the crowd. Quote from the official WSOP update "When the dealer called out the elimination the floor ran for the door in hopes to track Chidwick down and let him know that he needs to get paid out". http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/update/EMY/stephen-chidwick-first-elimination-of-the-day/
Unfortunately, as your player didn"t cash, we have no option but to withhold your point, so you will remain on zero. Unlucky.

There is still a long way to go in this one, but we have no selections left.
Stephen Chidwick finally cashes an event and half of our entrants get a point. Carl "My players score points in every event" Pligrim gets two for having Chidders as his captain.
Only two chose Bonomo, though, with Suzanne getting double points for her faith in him.
Of course, what everyone wants to know is "How is Samantha Abernathy doing?". Don"t worry, she has improved from 74k at the start of the day to 90k, though there is still a lot of work to do to recover from Chidwick doubling up one of the players on that table.

McCorkell finishes 5th. Another great result for him, his second cash this year, having just missed the final table in #4. I don"t understand why more people haven"t picked him in their teams as their British player, or indeed as a wildcard. Four WSOP cashes in 2012, including winning a bracelet and coming 172nd in the Main, four more cashes in 2013 and just the one last year, though that one was for 13th in the Main. On top of all that, he played the £10 rebuy in Portsmouth for several years - an excellent grounding for any future Hall-of-Famer. Nice result for Dave Paxton.
Kenney and Katchalov also pick up their second cashes of the year. Nice work by Kenney in particular, following on from getting to heads-up for a bracelet in #2.
So Paxo scores 5 points for McCorkell, Ena Sharples and Brian score with Leonard (double points for Ena), Kenney brings points for Brian (again) and Craig, while Gareth picks up a point with Katchalov.
-
And the news you"ve been waiting for. Samantha Abernathy got to heads-up in round 2 of the shootout, #14. So close to a final table in her first WSOP event. Watch out for her - she"s one you"ll hear plenty more about, if I have anything to do with it (which I do).
-
Meanwhile, they are very close to the money in #15 - twenty left, eighteen to cash. Greg Merson is reasonably comfortable in 11th place with 155k, Cry-Baby is 16th with 110k and Negraneu (remember him?) is trying to hang on for a point in 20th with 89k. The player in 13th has 117k, with a largish gap above him, so Negraneu"s situation is by no means irrecoverable, with all of the bottom eight at risk.

Cry baby cashes.. Negraneu BUBBLES!.. Merson on unofficial FT 10 left.. think it needs to be 9 before he has a nailed on 5 points?

Hellmuth Gets Lucky
Phil Hellmuth benefited from a donation in #16 when his opponent misread the board:
"Phil Hellmuth limps in from middle position and several players follow suit and the big blind checks. The flop comes out Qd 6d Ks. The small and big blinds both check and Hellmuth bets out 1,900. His opponent in the cut-off position folds. The small blind calls and the big blind folds. The turn shows the Ac and both players check. The river peels of the 6s and again both players check. Hellmuth shows Kd Jh and his opponent only shows the Kc and mucks his other card."

Event 15: $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em Championship |
Runners | 128 |
Paid | 18 |
Final Table | 9 |
Player | Position | Points |
Greg Merson | 5 | 5 | |
Connor Drinan (boo) | 16 | 1 | |
Selector | Points |
Carl | 5 |
Irish Tom | 5 |
Adam Sz | 1 |
Negreanu bubbled and fantasy WSOP scorers worldwide breathed a sigh of relief. Greg Merson continues his hot form with his second final table and third cash already, which is great for Carl and Tom, who have benefited to the tune of 11 points so far. The latest result takes them both past Craig at the top, with Carl two points in the lead. These three are well ahead of the pack, with fourth place back on eight points.
Top of the table:
Adam Sz breaks the deadlock in the Battle of the Adams and pulls a point ahead thanks to Drinan"s result.

No movement in points overnight as only Day 1B of #16 The Millionaire-Maker and Day 1 of #17 $10k Razz were running.
Through to Day 2 in #16 from our selections are:
Justin Bonomo | 136,200 |
Calvin Anderson | 135,000 |
Craig McCorkell | 60,900 |
Dylan Linde | 43,600 |
Simon Deadman | 32,400 |
Carlos Mortensen | 31,000 |
Maria Ho | 25,400 |
Joe Cada | 24,300 |
Patrick Leonard | 18,800 |
Jeremy Ausmus | 18,700 |
Max Silver | 15,600 |
Phil Hellmuth | 9,400 |
Chris Bjorin | 6,400 |
In #17, Brock Parker is joint chip-leader. We have got these through:
Brock Parker | 140,900 |
Bryn Kenney | 69,000 |
Jonathan Duhamel | 66,100 |
Frank Kassela | 61,000 |
David Chiu | 53,500 |
Stephen Chidwick | 35,400 |
Erik Seidel | 29,100 |
Scott Clements | 21,400 |
Phil Hellmuth | 11,300 |
63 left in the Razz, compared with 1,118 in the other and we have close to the same number left in both. What astute pickers you are.
You may notice the same player bringing up the rear in both events - Phil Hellmuth has qualified for simultaneous Day Twos. His dismal run so far this year continued and he went through in #16 in 1,086th place out of 1,118 survivors. He played the Razz with a view to dropping out of #16 if he got a stack, but has achieved the worst option of ending up shortstacked in that as well, going through in 61st place out of 63. What to do? Neither stack is healthy enough to be left to cash by itself. Will we see him running between rooms? Depending on starting times, he might be out of one before the other starts. Otherwise, you gotta stick with the Razz surely? Not as far off the pace, bigger entry fee and prize-pool, has an edge at Razz. On the other hand, #16 is already close to the cash (747 get paid), so a quick acceleration and one double-up could be enough to cash, whereas only about a quarter of those remaining in the Razz will cash. And the field isn"t stuffed with professionals like the Razz is. What to do?
-
Some more information for your decision. Starting times are 11am for Millionaire-Maker and 2pm for Razz.
Obviously, start at 11am, but suppose it gets to 2pm and you have chipped up a bit but are still quite short-stacked, with 50 eliminations to the money? Maybe the min-cash amount doesn"t register for him, but another notch on his WSOP bedpost would, plus he needs to consider the effect on the points situation in the APAT fantasy league.
-
, plus he needs to consider the effect on the points situation in the APAT fantasy league.
Just LOL ;D ;D
-
What is Allen Kessler like? Having cashed in #11 yesterday, he jumped into #13 and made Day 2. Eliminated from that after 90 minutes today at 3.30pm Vegas time, he was in his seat for the start of #15 at 4pm. This is a tough one - the $10k PLH. Only 27 playing so far, but it"s a starry field, including Keith Lehr, who has already won one bracelet today.
I pick him soley for the reason of volume he puts in.. Not on his ability tbh, he plays most of the events every year and has had numerous cashes a little like Frank Kassela who i see Curly picked this year shame he hasnt played yet lol
Your view seems to be shared by others: http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/update/FPI/having-a-laugh-at-chainsaws-expense/
"He doesn"t play enough hands to run hot".

This is Razz chip-leader Brock Parker yesterday, not looking that much like a serial axe-murderer if you look at it from the right angle:
And this was him looking cherubic (and not unlike Dave Howard) in the quarter-final of the 2001 Magic Wizard Detroit Grand Prix, where he went on to finish second for $1,700:
Just eight years later, when he won his first WSOP bracelet, he looked quite like he does now.
Dave Howard - this is your future.
-
McCorkell with another cash :D
-
Dave Howard - this is your future.
Bugger, I shaved off my beard.
Will remember for next WSOP.
-
I have 5 of my 8 players still in the Razz. If the all make the FT I want to win this outright immediately..
On a more serious note, I expect "nul points"
-
I have 5 of my 8 players still in the Razz. If the all make the FT I want to win this outright immediately..
Lol. I think that was fair though. If you get five onto one final table you deserve to be declared the winner without any further consideration.
This is looking like being a great tournament for us, with so many of our players going deep. They are down to 34 now and we have recently lost Clements, Kassela and Duhamel, but we still have Parker, Kenney, Hellmuth, Chiu, Chidwick and Seidel. With such numbers, we must be good for lots of cashes and points all round.
-
Is there a prize for most pure bubbles??
Stupid Brock :(
Chidwick, Hellmuth and Seidel still going
-
Chidders FTW!!!

Can"t believe our team members have been knocking each other out. They need to learn from us how to play team poker.

Event #16.. Points scorers, please check as i may of missed some..
Eugene Katchalov
Calvin Anderson
Dylan Linde
Justin Bonomo still in i believe..
Event #17... Still in.. Chidders, Hellmuth and Siedel
Event #18.. Point scorer.. Jason Wheeler
Event #19 Long way to go 160 left 36 paid.. those still in with chip counts.
33 Carlos Mortensen 40500
34 Daniel Negreanu 40200
58 Dylan Linde 33400
136 Jonathan Duhamel 12700
141 Maria Ho 11700
156 Eugene Katchalov 6200
The Razz could be a real game changer!! with lots of you having Phil as skipper if he binks you score a whopping 20 points.. if Chidders binks i score 20 points.. (bok).. Curly could score 15 if all 3 FT.

Thought McCorkell cashed in the #16, his tweets say he cashed at least...
(3rd #WSOP cash of the summer in the #MillionaireMaker - Still 700 people left in this one though)

Judge"s decision is binding, Dave, otherwise we"d have chaos with everyone asking for results to be changed. Sorry about that, but the result will have to stand as reported.
-
Razz is on FT.. Hellmuth and Chidwick have 5 points locked.. (10 for me 20 if he spins up his short stack) Seidel cashed so earns 1 point.. A young English player Adam Owen has a slender CL over Phil.. checked his stats amazing how he can afford a $10K buy in?? must be staked.
So all you Hellmuth fans will be cheering your man on to try and snaffle you all 20 points!

Only joking Paxo - you get your point. Gareth and Adam had two players cashing. Suzanne just had one, but Bonomo is her captain.

He has been on a hot streak lately, finishing second to Mercier in the SCOOP Badugi H for $25k in early May and then winning $120k for finishing second in the Sunday Warm-Up two weeks ago. Plus various other stuff before.

So, the Razz changes everything. All the patient building of points over several tournaments by Carl, IrishTom and Craig is blown out of the water by one amazing tournament.
Hellmuth started off Day 2 short-stacked and double-booked. He resolved the double-booking by crashing out of the Millionaire-Maker in the first level of its Day 2. I wonder what he would have done if he had doubled up a couple of times instead of losing. He climbed steadily through the field all day in the Razz. From 61/63, I remember him being 24/36 and 11/16. Then suddenly he was 3rd and then 1st. Once it got to the last half-dozen players, it never seemed like he wasn"t going to win.
Only four people didn"t include Hellmuth in their team and three of those picked Chidwick, so everyone except Suzanne scored lots of points in this tournament. Steve and Tom F scored 25 points by having Hellmuth as their captain and also including Chidders.
The league has changed totally. Everyone now has points and some have gone from zero to near the top. These are the points after 18 events:
Selector | Points |
Carl | 30 |
Steve | 30 |
Paxo | 28 |

My main man David Chiu keeps getting me points but is getting so close to a final table but seem to be having some terrible luck just when I really matters - event #27
Dan Kelly, Scott Clements, and David Chiu tangle up in a three-way pot that will decide Chiu"s tournament life in brutal fashion.
Kelly: (x-x)/ 9,4,5- fold
Clements: (x-x)K,8,10,3(x)
Chiu: (x-x)5,J,Q,Q(x)
Clements checks with the lead on fourth, and Chiu bets. Kelley and Clements call the 8,000. On fifth, Chiu bets 16,000, Kelly folds, and Clements calls. Chiu bets sixth street too, and Clements quickly raises to put him all in for 22,000 total. Clements shows up KK for rolled up kings, but Chiu has that beat; he tables JJ for jacks full, one card from the double-up.
The river card is dealt out to both players, and Clements rips his over without a sweat. It"s the 10c That makes kings full for Clements, and Chiu lets out an, "Oh my god," as he sees the bad news. He needs the case jack or one of the two queens to stay alive, but he peeks down at the 5h and wishes his table good luck as he heads to the cashier.

Oh, and Suzanne, obviously.

Early days...
Charlie boy finally got his passport sorted and is on the way so hopefully he will score me some points.
-
Sorry to be a pain john but prior to the results from #22 I was on 21 points. Since then iv had chids score in event 22 and Hellmuth and Chiu both in event 24... Putting me on 24 points after 26 events not 23. Sorry to bring it up but points make prizes
-
For some reason, I had recorded #22 as a miss for us. I think it may be because I have updated the file on different computers and may have saved on one and then next updated from the previous version on the other.
Anyhow, Chidwick and Wheeler both got a point in #22, so that"s an extra point or two for several people, though not Suzanne. Amended position after 26 events:

Event#28.. Still running.. points scorers are, Brock Parker, Martin Finger, Vanessa Selbst,.. Simon Deadman still in.
Event#29.. Still running.. points scorers are, George Danzer, still in FT Eric Seidel and Chip leader Dan Smith!!. This will catapult George to the top of the table as Dan is also his captain if he wins bracelet will be a commanding lead, the guy is on a heater.
Event#30.. Still running closing in on bubble.. Elky, Moorman. Loni Harwood, David "Bakes" Baker,
Event#31.. Still running.. Duhamel, Jeremy Ausmus, Richard Ashby (on fumes)
-
So it appears that Dan Smith may be about to score big points for me but it still won"t put me in the lead.
There must be one player that gives me more points than the competitors round about me.

#30 Craig McCorkell? Or are there less than 235 left now?
Finished 215th. 216 paid.
The WSOP site has a piece all about the elimination of Loni Wood, mentioning the name several times. I"m assuming that"s Loni Harwood.
Flippin Sharplea.
-
Eoghan O"Dea and John O"Shea both in the top twenty of #31 PLO Hi-Lo.
Could be an all-Irish Heads-Up?
-
To many Dan"s IMO I confused Smith for Kelley ooopps
-

Flippin Sharplea.
It was her. :( The Loni Wood post disappeared for a while and then reappeared with Harwood replacing Wood throughout.
Nice one Adam.
For those who don"t know, we are one of the very few WSOP Fantasy Leagues in the world to have received an entry from an official WSOP updater, which we are very proud of.
Unfortunately, like me, he doesn"t know up from down when it comes to forecasting players" performances and is bumping along just above the bottom, eternally grateful that Suzanne entered the competition. He picked up points in #28 and #29 to overtake me, but Loni"s point would bring me level again, which is obviously why he tried to nobble her in the official updates.

My tactics of luring you all into a false sense of security is working I see ;)

Twenty-one still standing in #30 and we have two of them, with Moorman in 3rd and Elky in 11th; Loni, Bakes and McCorkell having already pointed.
Is that a word - to point, in the sense of scoring points?
I point, you point, he points, Suzanne doesn"t point........
You can outpoint someone, so surely you can point?

It looks very close at the top, but this might be the last opportunity to see Carl in the lead. Steve looks like he has at least one big score coming, with Moorman currently 2/16 in #30 and the possibility of a second one, with Deadman 1/190 in #32. Richard can also catch Carl if Elky squeezes onto the FT, currently 11/16.

Its a strange word "point", so many definitions. It must be so difficult to learn the english language as a foreigner.
I got in contact with an old boyfriend of mine on FB who is Spanish. I was reasonably fluent back then but after many years of not speaking the language decided to use a translation site to make sure I got it right. Unfortunately the site translated "kid" as a small goat which also happens to be a derogatory word describing a child of no parentage.
Needless to say he did not reply.
A pointless post but thought I would share as it was funnier than yours :-*

Lucky old Fandango. Moorman and Elky both just miss the final table. They both made the classic mistake of trying to win all ten points before they had secured the five for ninth, forgetting all of Steve and Richard"s instructions in the heat of the moment and each accepting a flip that he ended up losing.
Gareth and Dann are also rueing Moorman"s blow-up, especially Dann, who shares the Moorman/Deadman combination with Steve.
In other news, Deadman is in freefall in #32, currently 19/24.

#32 is looking very interesting now. With 24 left, recent bracelet winner Tuan Le is 2nd. Mike Gorodinsky, who has chalked up three high cashes with 2nd, 9th and 28th place results already this year, is there again in 7th. How come no one has him in their team?
Jennifer Tilly is still up there in 5th place and has all our best wishes.
Oh yeah, Deadman and Mercier are still hanging around near the bottom.
Meanwhile, I can"t decide which player played this hand worse when there were 29 left:

Yes, that"s why you already got them. Sorry that I put your name halfway down the list. I"ll try to remember to put it at the top in future so you don"t have to search for it.

Yes, we have another bracelet. We were guaranteed it once the tournament got to heads-up, as we had both players.
Carl, Debbie, Adam Sharples and Paxo were backing Mercier, while Dann and Steve were with Deadman, so this was an important result at the top.
It ended with a, frankly, very questionable all-in pre-flop with 66 v KQ when they had 65 BBs v 49 BBs.
As Steve says, Carl runs good. But what"s new? |

Good old Jason, takes a few days off to visit a friends wedding. Comes back to Vegas obviously riddled with guilt that he is letting down his faithful fans who have entrusted their faith in his poker ability.
Was the only correct outcome IMHO ;D
Now if only that Allen Kessler can convert his top 10 stack in the HORSE into a FT or Bracelet so he rewards me with my faith in him!!

You"ve got the points on my spreadsheet; it"s in transferring the scores to my post that something went wrong.
With also having both Selbst and Bakes in #33, you have moved right up level with Steve in second place.

Ok peeps we have finally got all the money in the kitty £230.
As most of you have replied to your PM the general consensus is that the majority of you prefer to spread the love so to speak.. So a decision has been made to award cash for top 3!! as follows.
1. £130 + APAT National seat.. and more importantly BRAGGING RIGHTS!!
2. £70 + kudos for not being quite as clever as first place.
3. £30 + Kudos for better than 20 other not quite so good as 1+2
Hope you are all happy with this.
-
Happy with the 1,2,3. Doubt I"ll be involved in receiving any of it, but hey ho. ;D
Plenty of players left in event 37, including a nice stacked Jake Cody at present.

Event#41.. still running 3 from final table Daniel Negreanu looking good for a slot and the jewel in the crown Chidders chip leader looking for a FT and dare i not bok him a bracelet #chiddersftw
Steve has both Chidders and Daniel in his squad so if they both FT he has a garunteed 10 points or 15 points if either of them win.. I have Chidders as my skipper so if he makes FT i garuntee 10 points or 20 if he binks.. so Steve will be hoping for a Negreanu win and Chidders FT to overtake me at top spot.
Negreanu bok it is then ;D ;D ;D

APAT players have been doing the business again in the WSOP.
Linda Iwaniak finished 77th in the Seniors event for $5,509. John Miller was 91st for $3,886.
Brendan Byrne"s brother Sean made his annual assault on the WSOP, finishing 56/4193 for $8,000, to go with his 38/4425 last year in this event. This was, actually, the second cash in this tournament for all three of them.
-
Can see this heading for a Negreanu v Chidwick heads up.
-
Noticed on blonde you can swap players for a few points, is this an option here?
How many points to change the whole team?
I dont actually want to change the whole team but thought I would ask anyway.

Thank you to Max Pescatori for keeping me in it by beating Chidwick heads up.
You cost me five points but you cost Carl ten points.

Quite a few people having both scorers and a few having one of them as captain. Richard was the only one to have both and have one of them as his captain.
-
With 41 events completed, it is neck-and-neck at the top. Carl is just two points ahead of Steve, and you can"t get any closer than that. Barrie just three behind Steve, Richard just two behind him and so on.
With the position so close, there is a lot of pressure now on the players to perform in the remaining events. Mercier, Chidwick, Negreanu, Merson, Hellmuth. Who will hold strong? Who will crack under the pressure?

Yesterday in the World Series, nothing happened.
The weather is nice, though.
-
Love this tweet from Barney Boatman:
Every time they call out "we"ve lost one in the super seniors" a ripple of panic runs through the Amazon room. ;D
-
Think I have spotted seven of my eight players on leader boards in current events, a couple already in the money with Dan Smith & Martin Finger closing in on a final table.
Guess Mr Luck Box"s players are doing equally well.
-
Guess Mr Luck Box"s players are doing equally well.
Now now Steve no need to be like that! ;D ;D
I wish the very best of luck to Both Mr Finger and Mr Smith and really really hope they at least make a final table, and better to win a bracelet... No BOK intended obv ;)

Event#49.. Finished with George Danzer making the final table alongside Connor Drinnan both score their managers 5 important points, lots of cashes for us all with Scott Clements, Charles Carrel, Chris Bjorin, Vanessa Selbst and Eric Siedel also cashing..
Event#50.. Brock Parker folded his way into a min cash to make Chris happy, But little comfort for poor Suzanne :( her one hope of scoring 10 points Justin Bonomo somehow decided to lose 3 handed when he had 1/2 the chips in play to end up 3rd!! shame on you Justin shame.. just the 5 points.
Event#51.. Nearing completion players who have cashed, Katchalov, Jacobson , Benger, Kenney,.. and still in with a top 3 stack the ever constant man himself Stephen Chidwick!!
Event#52.. Points scorers are Jeff Lissandro, Jeremy Ausmus and still in nearing the FT bubble Scott Clements.. Poor Suzanne just isnt having any run good, she only picked the wrong Mizrachi, Robert flying high again showing his bro how its done..
Event#53.. This should of been John"s banker as its all women let me see if any of his picks are still in... errrm No seems to be the answer..
Event#54.. Long way to go.. still in are, Justin "inplode" Bonomo, David Chiu, Jeff Lissandro, Jason Mercier, Bryn Kenney, Dan Smith, Davidi Kitai, and Pads.
14 Events to go still anyones game!!

After 56 events, there is a clear leader at last. Carl has been one or two points ahead for a large part of the series, but has now stretched his lead to eight points, though six others are bunched together within a few points, so there are still numerous potential winners.
At the other end, Suzanne has been putting in a spurt and is threatening to catch the other player who is cut off from the pack.

Event#57.. Points scorers are.. Allen Kessler, Calvin Anderson, and Martin Jacobson.
Event#58.. Points scorers are.. Phil Hellmuth who also final tables which means a few of you who have him as skipper bag an important 10 points, Dan Coleman finishes 3rd for 5 points and Winner is Jonathan Duhamel who takes bracelet and 10 points!
Event#59.. Still running with 309 left top 216 get paid.. those still in are.. Simon Deadman, and Jake Cody,
Event#60.. Still running players left in are.. Scott Clements, David Chiu, Dan Kelly, Connor Drinnan, Daniel Negreanu, Martin Finger, Still late registration for this so maybe some more of our heroes will jump in late.
Phil Hellmuth has made it very interesting up top now after his latest FT.. Steve benefits with 10 points and Barrie 5 points.. Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler scoring a point for me in Event#57 gives me a 1 point lead over Steve, BUT i have no runners still in 59,60.. Deadman Negreanu and Finger still in could be a game changer for Steve, Barrie also has Cody, Chiu and Negreanu left in.. oooohhh getting exciting. George having Hellmuth in his squad helps his cause and with Dan Kelly as his skip and still in Event#60 he will be willing a FT.

It"s incredible how many of your picks have scored points over the series, and a very tight finish looks assured in this comp.
For a bit of extra fun, APAT are going to give you $10,000 fantasy dollars to see if you can turn a profit in our Staker game. The website is under development for launch in Autumn, but it should do just fine for our purposes here. Login using the Facebook button.
The steps to play are simple enough:
1) Select the WSOP Main event by clicking the link in the description.
2) Search for a player that you would like to stake. You can add any player who may not be in the current database, including yourself or a friend! Rinse and repeat to spread your risk across several players.
3) Add how much you would like to stake - however a maximum of 100% is available in each player.
4) Follow the action live from Sunday and see where you finish in our event leaderboard. We"ll input all prize money earned prior to the final table, to ensure we get a result prior to the final table in November.
We"re not planning to advertise this fun comp outside of this thread, but its fine if some of your friends who missed out on the fantasy thread want to play along.

I can"t paste results from the spreadsheet right now but the big news is that Carl"s lead has been almost wiped out by #58. Not having Hellmuth hits him hard when the Brat makes a final table and everyone has closed right up behind. The biggest mover is Debbie, who scored 20 points in #58, being the only one with the winner, Duhamel, in her team, along with having Hellmuth as her captain.
Top of the league after 58 events:
87 Carl
86 Steve
85 Tom F
83 Barrie
82 Debbie
81 George
78 Chris
72 Paxo
71 Richard
If things continue like this, it looks like it will all come down to the Main Event to decide the winner.
-
A point for Steve in #59 has brought him level with Carl at the top on 87 points.
However, David Chiu is currently 9/16 in #60. If he gets to the final table, Barrie will take the lead for the first time.
-
I have also entered the fantasy Main Event thingy. It looks like fun. I invested $1 in a certain Tom Feilding. I hope it doesn"t end up being a near tie at the end, given that I"m not going to Vegas.

You may have gathered from Barrie"s anguish that his player let him down. I"d have thought he was a Chiu-in to make the FT if he had sat tight and let the others bust instead of trying to win the event before he has the five points secured. If you Chius that route, you get a big stack or you bust, which is hardly the right strategy in a points-based competition. Something for the player to Chiu over while he kicks his heels waiting for his next event.
Not much else happened since - just Day 1 of #62, which our Joe is playing.

Craig McCorkel, sixth overnight on 145k, has had a good first hour today, moving into the lead on 215k.

Deadman gets a point in Event 61.
Time to call a halt to this competition now & just award the title to whoever is winning now.
All Agreed?
;D
-
So that"s that then. Steve wins the APAT WSOP Fantasy League.
Roll on next year.
-
Yea!
Unlucky Carl
Unlucky Guys
The tournament organiser"s decision is final!
-
When the dust settles, there will probably be one point each for McCorkell, Deadman, Mortensen and Mizrachi in #61 and one for Boeree in #62, so no real effect at the top. Unbelievably, Suzanne has both Mortensen and Mizrachi.
The event to watch, though, is #63, which just about everyone you have heard of has entered, if they weren"t detained in one of the preceding tournaments. A lot of our guys are still in there and it is possible that we could have multiple final-tablists, as we currently have three in the top ten, including chip-leader Frank Kassela, plus plenty of others through the field. This one is likely to have a major influence on the outcome of the league.
-
I think that may be Negreanu"s last WSOP tournament for this year so, if you have him in your team, he won"t be adding to his pitiful points total for the series.
-
"Unbelievably, Suzanne has both Mortensen and Mizrachi."
Admit it, you are starting to get worried aren"t you ;)
-
Has anyone noticed a player going by the name of Prince of Docness? A quick google search brings up this article where someone has quoted "he has even been called one of the best Omaha hi-lo players on this planet"
http://www.parttimepoker.com/prince-of-docness-owning-souls-at-wsop
What I find very interesting is his remarkable resemblance to Doc Emmett Brown....hmmm.

I fear this event may kill me as I have no players left while others have more than one left.

It didn"t seem like it last night, but you are going to get out of this one without too much damage, our team having engineered a middle-order collapse that the England cricket team would have been proud of. Clements, Chidwick, Ashton, Ausmus, Chiu, Rutter and Negreanu fell close to the money (okay, the last few weren"t that close). From a mass of entrants, we only have three remaining, with Kassela lying 2nd, Parker 10th and Glantz 20/20. If it stays like that, it won"t be too bad for you.
This is chip-leader Andrew Barber"s sixth cash this year. Have any of you got him in your team? No, you haven"t. Everyone transfixed with Negreanu and Selbst as usual.
It"s interesting that a few of the old names are still in this - Elezra, Greenstein, Scotty, Hachem, Shack-Harris... once again HORSE demonstrates where the class is.

#63 is still running. Down to six, Kassela is still there for Richard. Parker and Glantz both fell short of the final table.
#64, the online event, is also down to six, though your guess is as good as mine as to who they are. Rumour has it that three of the final-tablists are actually Brian Hastings.
#65 - Linde will be the only scorer, but is currently well down the field, so that will be one point for Carl, unless he does something dramatic soon.

What a tough event. The top three at the end were all players most of us hadn"t heard of, but they sure know their stuff:
1st was Andrew Barber who, as mentioned above, now has six cashes this year.
2nd was Viacheslav Zhukov of the Soviet Secret Police, for his fourth cash of this year"s series. He has now finished 2nd, 4th, 10th and 14th, all in mixed games.
3rd was Don Zewin. Never heard of him? He finished third in the Main Event the year Hellmuth won it against Chan. No bracelets, but 24 cashes over the years, including a heads-up loss in Razz in 2012.
Also on the final table were Main Event winners Joe Hachem and Scott Nguyen, who both know a thing or two about mixed games.
Every pro in Vegas took part in this. Gotta give Barber his dues for coming out top from that field.

There could be some big points swings in #67, the $10k Dealer"s Choice, which is the last opportunity for points grabbing.
With 61 left, Ashton is 1st, Danzer 3rd, Childwick 4th, Rutter 10th and Chiu 11th, with Ho, Negreanu, Hellmuth and Kelly still going in the bottom half.
Anything could happen - and it probably will.

Didnt read the rules obv but does the main event not count?

Didnt read the rules obv but does the main event not count?
Yeah, it does, but it"ll be a surprise if anyone scores more than a couple of points.

I thought this was a shot of some homeless tramp who had wandered into the Rio yesterday, but it turned out to be Matthew Ashton.
Such focus; such intensity; such mad staring eyes.
If I ever play against him, he can have my chips. I don"t want to end up in a suitcase.

All aboard the Chiu Chiu train . If David can final table event 67 I might just take this bad boy down
-
When #67 resumed today, three of the best mixed games players in the world (Ashton, Danzer and Chidders) occupied positions in the top four for our teams, plus we had several other strong players still in, and I was anticipating it taking me til Christmas to work out who had won the league, such was the plethora of points about to be earned by everyone. Well, I don"t know what went on, but all three were out before the dinner break, making my job a lot easier. They didn"t bubble the final table or even get close - all there were miles away, as were Negreanu, Hellmuth and Ho.
Kelly and Bonomo ( who I missed earlier) got closer, but also fell, so now, with twelve left, Keith from The Office now has the chip lead and we only have Chiu still alive, in tenth place. Rather than the deluge of points I expected, only Barrie will score and, with it being a six-handed final table, he may just get one point. So, the leaders can breathe easily again that no-one is going to ship fifteen or twenty points in this one.
-
Stephen Chidwick, so hungry from lack of food that he couldn"t wait til the dinner-break for his favourite Lettuce Surprise:

We have no-one remaining in #66, and Jason Wheeler is our only point-scorer that I can see, so that"s a point for Craig. I remember when that meant something.
-
#64, the online event, has completed, but only about a dozen of the 100 cashers have been identified, and we have none of them, so we"ll have to make do with that unless more details are released. They have indicated that Mercier played, but didn"t cash.
-
This is the current position in the league if I give Barrie the one point that Chiu has earned so far for cashing. Carl and Steve are tied in the lead on 88 points. Tom F and Barrie are level on 85, followed by Debbie on 82 and George on 81. If Chiu gets to the final table in #67, Barrie will take a one point lead on 89 points. It is probably going to take a final table in the Main for the winner to be anyone other than Barrie, Steve or Carl. We have three prizes, though, so if Chiu comes good, these three will likely take them, sequence still to be determined. If Chiu fails, Barrie and Tom F will probably be fighting it out for third. It"s a hell of a lot of pressure to put on Chiu, but if anyone can hold it together, he"s the man for the job. This is his seventh cash this series, and 70th in total, including five bracelets, so Barrie couldn"t Chiuz a better option. Any further results from the online event could still affect the position, though. If it ends up that some of the online cashers are not identified, I think that any who are should still get their points, even though there is the possibility that another of our players cashed but wasn"t named.

So Chiu reinforces his reputation as one of the cashingest players at the WSOP, but doesn"t quite get to the FT. In fairness, these mixed games can be a bit of a crapchiut.

So the scores starting the Main Event haven"t changed from those listed above. Just to make sure, I"m going to recheck the results for each player in case er, Carl, has missed any.

I have rechecked the results of each player against their WSOP record. There were some discrepancies, mainly the results for #37 and #45 hadn"t been added to the spreadsheet (apart from the final-tablist, who had been included). There were also a couple of other omissions for single-point cashes, but everything agrees now. The race at the top hasn"t changed much:

Event 68: No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT - Day 1A
Martin Jacobson was too ill to perform the opening ceremony, so there must be a question over whether he will be well enough to play by the final Day 1.
Of our other players, Carrel, Duhamel and Ausmus have made it through to Day 2, but Leonard, Baxter and Seidel were eliminated.

Hope my players are playing in it.

We have bloody loads of players in action today in Day 1C of the Main.
Four hours in, and confirmed participants from our teams so far are Merson, Linde, Cada, Harwood, Kessler, Kassela, Silver, Negreanu, Ivey, Finger, Deadman, Grospellier, Boeree, Anderson, Parker, Jacobson, Dempsey, Musumeci, Kelly, Glantz, Ho, Mizrachi, McDonald, Chiu, Kenney, Kitai, Drinan, McCorkell, Somerville, Benger, Geilich, Spittles, Polk and Trickett.
Carl, if you could keep an eye on our players in the Pavilion Roon, I"ll take Brasilia, and we"ll have to wing it on any others. Maybe Adam can help out with that.
Linde is already out and Merson is down to 3,000 chips.
It"s still a bit early for Hellmuth, but he is confirmed to be joining the tournament later today.
Bakes is confirmed to be swerving the Main so, apart from the few selectees who don"t appear to have played anything in the Series, our only players not accounted for so far are Wheeler and Selbst, but they might be around. Any sightings welcome.
It"s a bit surprising that everyone who wants to be here appears to have made it, as this was Vegas yesterday:

Hellmuth, Deadman, Negreanu & Finger through to Day Two for me to add to Moorman. Not sure what happened to Ho. Guess she went out. At least all eight played, realising their responsibilities representing my Fantasy Team.
Five players into Day Two is pretty good. Not sure how many Carl, Tom & Barrie have but am happy until I hear they have eight each!
-
It looks like you"ll have the most players through out of the top four, Steve, as the others all have four left.
Tom has got Kitai and Danzer through, along with Hellmuth and Negreanu, but has lost Seiver, Chidwick, Selbst and Smith.
Barrie has Hellmuth, Negreanu, Mercier and Cody but has lost Chiu, Selbst, Chidders and Bakes.
Carl has Ausmus, Kessler, Mercier and Danzer alive, with Merson, Linde and Chids out and no news yet on Ho, who is missing presumed dead.
-
Looks like Ho may have got through shortstacked.
-
So from reading the above posts, I have Negreanu (who was going home), Hellmuth, Mercier, Cody and possibly the missing presumed dead Maria Ho through. If McCorkell, Lisandro, and Tiger Woods have made it through, Im possibly in with a shout of catching the top 3. ;D
-
From what i can see i have Danzer, Anderson, Parker, Hellmuth, Negreanu & Kelly left after Day 1.
-
Event #68: No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT - Day 1C
Still awaiting the official result.
However, I believe that Glantz, Ivey, Negreanu, Grospellier, Mizrachi, Hellmuth, McCorkell, Parker, Kelly, Finger, Kessler, Somerville, Kitai, Trickett, Anderson, Silver, Deadman, Benger, Musumeci, Drinan, Dempsey, McDonald and probably Ho are through.
Merson, Chiu, Boeree, Polk, Jacobson, Kassela, Harwood and Cada are kaput.
No information so far on Kenney, Spittles or Geilich.

McCorkell and Ivey are through, Dave, and Lisandro went through yesterday, so you have a full set with all eight players into Day 2. You could still win this. If all your players cash, you only need to get three or four of them on the final table to win (so longer as they are the right three or four and not the ones everyone else has).
Good luck.
-
Still no official results for 1C. While we"re wait, here are some poker players who have qualified for Day 2. Do you have them in your team?

Adam has finally finished typing the numbers into his spreadsheet and the Day 1C results have been published.
No sign of Kenney or Spittles (or Selbst), but Geilich has made it through.
Ho confirmed into Day 2 as well.

How do you..

Were Philip Gruissem or Ana Marquez even there?
Answer at a short..
A) I look at previous last few years at the top cashes.. Chidwick, Mercier, Danzer etc etc so presume they are going to put a full schedule.. I also message them and politely ask them if they will be playing much. I also ask if they know of a good pick, Chidwick informed me to pick Dylan Linde as he will play most events as they are room sharing. he also cashed on numerous occasions in previous years.
B) Hope the above answers..
Pass cant seem to remember seeing Marquez play or Philip

Top 1000 get paid, or more important for us get a point.. My prediction will be that only 3 of our players left in will make top 1000.
Predictions?

You message them! And ask for tips for the APAT Fantasy League!!! :o
Well, it seems to be working. Can"t wait next year when Chidwick gets twenty-five messages asking for tips, now that you have revealed your secret. Maybe I"ll message Mercier and Hellmuth while I"m at it.
And what are Chidwick and Linde doing sharing - trying to save a bit of money on hotel bills? It must be a right barrel of laughs once those two get together.

Although that Greg Merson guy never answered my question!! how dare he.
Ole Schemion was my pick last year and was very upset with his volume.. seems he did the same this year and dragged himself to Vegas for the last few events.. He didnt answer my question either, does he not understand the importance of letting his faithful supporters down!!
Out of all the replies i must admit that Chidwick was most helpful and even seemed genuine in his interest in the faith people had in him.
Others where less than chatty.. lol

He probably wouldnt as he would obv look at Hendon Mob stats for APAT.. Certain John Murray topping the list for most cashes would scare him off..

Top 1000 get paid, or more important for us get a point.. My prediction will be that only 3 of our players left in will make top 1000.
Predictions?
So, we have 38 players out of 4,389 starting Day 2, and you reckon we"ll get three into the top 1,000.
Actually, you"re probably about right.
-
On that last list of teams, any chance you could strikethrough players as they get eliminated?
Also just goes to show how important the captain pick is
-

Are you a friend of Paxo"s, Chris?
I"ll summarise the situation after the last Day 2, when most teams are likely to be down to a couple of players.
Due to having common players with those above them, Debbie and George need one of their other players to make the final to be able to get to third place. Anyone below George would need to get at least two players onto the final table to have a chance of third.
-
Steve was in the strongest position of the top contenders starting Day 2, with six players still alive. Carl had five, while Tom and Barrie had four each. Still just about in contention, Debbie and George each had five.
I had forgotten all about Haxton, as he hadn"t shown all summer, and I hadn"t listed him below, so we actually had thirty-nine still going at the start of Day 2. Anyway, he"s out now, so Debbie is down to four. She needs Durhamel to make the FT and George needs Anderson or Kelly to do so. Their other players don"t count, as they are replicated in the higher-placed teams.
At the top, it has been a bad start for Carl, with Ausmus being eliminated. Lisandro is also gone, spoiling Paxo"s hopes of getting his full team to the final table.
-
How is my wild card Charlie boy doing (who hasnt been mentioned I noticed)?
-
Ausmus and Mercier gone for me.. Danzer still in, Ho doesn"t count as Steve has her in his squad.. So it"s looking like I rely on a Danzer Kessler deep run..
Moorman looks to have a healthy Stack as well as Cody
-
How is my wild card Charlie boy doing (who hasnt been mentioned I noticed)?
He was doing well earlier but I can"t see him now and hasn"t been mentioned in the updates, unless I"ve missed it.
So I don"t see him in but I haven"t seen him go out.
You"d think they would notice him one way or the other.

He five-bet pre-flop to 17,000, with 35,000 behind, earlier and got a fold. Claims to have had T7, but who knows. Similar poker style to yourself.
Two of your other young boys, Cody and Bonomo, are doing very well today.
-
Found him. He"s going well on 115k - similar to Bonomo. Cody over 300k.
Are you making a late attempt at winning this?
-
Moorman was my only player playing overnight & he appears to have come through with an average stack.
Obviously, he won"t be looking to min cash so will be gambling on Day Three to build a big stack and ignoring the importance of laddering to a certain WSOP Fantasy League player. Will let him off if he final tables though.
-
Event #68: No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT - Day 2AB
A pretty good stack I"d have thought, Steve.
646 players have gone through to Day 3.
We lost Mercier, Ashton, Schemion, Lisandro, Mortensen, Ausmus and Haxton, but the following will be happy tonight:
14 Cody 340k
99 Moorman 190k
119 Duhamel 177k
146 Danzer 164k
203 Bonomo 132k
229 Colman 123k
230 Bjorin 123k
302 Carrel 96k
319 Zhang 92k (another one I had missed as she doesn"t seem to have played until now)
So Debbie"s quest to overtake Tom and Barrie for third is still alive, as is Suzanne"s to overtake me at the bottom. She needs two of her three young men to get to the final table. They are doing everything they can for her and she now has a rest day to prepare them for the next stage.
-
It appears that I have four players through to Day Three with Hellmuth, Negreanu & Finger joining Moorman in the quest to cash. I lost Deadman & Ho today.
Not sure what other players have left but I would have settled for that at the start.
-
Event #68: No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT - Day 2C
It"s been a bloodbath for our players today.
1,142 players survived out of 2,765 starting the day but, for us, it was much worse.
We sent twenty-four players out but only seven returned.
These are the seventeen players who ended their series today:
Ho, Ivey, Mizrachi, Drinan, McDonald, Benger, Dempsey, Grospellier, Trickett, Musumeci, Somerville, Parker, Anderson, Geilich, Kessler, Silver, Deadman.
And these are the few who remain:
11 Glantz 306k
71 Kitai 220k
112 McCorkell 194k
376 Negreanu 123k
449 Finger 112k
601 Hellmuth 88k
978 Kelly 38k
-
Carl"s spurning of Hellgreanu has finally caught up with him, as the old reliables show their, er, reliability and both come through into Day 3. Steve, Barrie and Tom all have both players, so it doesn"t affect the race between them, but Carl is in danger of losing two points to each of them and there is now a real possibility that Tom or Barrie could catch him.
Steve is in the driving seat, still having four players in the competition, with Moorman and Finger still in, along with H & N. Carl only has Danzer left.
In the battle for third, both have Hellgreanu, but Tom has Kitai and Danzer, while Barrie just has Cody.
It"s all going to the wire.............
-
With around 700 off the money and more importantly the points for us looking like my prediction of 3 getting in looks there or there abouts..
My only hope is George Danzer..
Steve looking good with 4 of his players still left in.
Although I"m happy to see Deadman fall last night, a player who I rate highly and was positive for a deep run..
Will be interesting to see if the bubble bursts tonight? I reckon there must be some very short stacks going into day 3.
-
There are individual battles all the way through the field. For example, a bitter five-way struggle is raging for the coveted tenth place between Adam (Sharples), IrishTom, the two Simons and defending champion Rob. Everyone wants to finish in the top ten; nobody wants to be fourteenth. No surprise that Rob is dominating with Hellgreanu and Kitai, while Simon B (no relation to Mel B) just has Hellgreanu. Adam has Hellgreanu and Danzer, RedSimon has Hell and Danzer, but IrishTom only has Negs. Rob seems to have tenth place secured, but the other places could go in any direction, so it will be a tense all-night session by the laptop for all of them tonight, waiting for the vital updates to come through.
-
Everybody still has at least one player in the Main.
Top picker for this event is Gareth, with five players into Day 3 - Hellmuth, Moorman, Bonomo, Glantz and Negreanu.
Dann, Paxo, Chris, George, Tom F and Steve have four.
Worst are IrishTom, Carl and me, with one each. Last time I pick an all-female team.
-
is coleman out ?

No, your player is still in, Del. 123k.

Let"s GO team #TeamHellNegsCody
Your due me some points Mr Cody
-
Just looking at the points table, it shows just how much picking the right captain is vital to your chances of winning. I wonder what it would look like if it wasn"t double points.

Like this. Chris would have been up there but he slipped by picking a dodgy captain. Tom has capitalised by having Hellmuth.

-
Does the main score same points as any other event?
Yes George.. We discussed a seperate ME sweat like previous years but decided to keep it as just a normal bracelet event, some argue the size of the field warrants more points etc, but the same could go for the mega stack, lucky 777 millionaire maker etc which have even larger fields..
-
The tactic of not bokking my players didnt work....sigh.
Dont be dissing my Charlie boy John. I will be picking him next year as I am sure he is a star in the making ;)
Saying that...I thought the same about another young lad a few years back and that didnt end well.

He"s already a star, Suzanne - 1st in EPT High Roller, 5th in another EPT High Roller, 1st in GUKPT Grand Final. He has a great future behind him.
I don"t doubt that you"ll be picking him again!
But who was the other young lad you put your faith in?

Melanie Weisner is out.
Okay, none of us have her in our team, but what does that matter?
-
It"s getting near the bubble now. Just over 1,100 left, with 1,000 to be paid.
It has been a pretty good day for our players. Only Colman, Finger and Moorman have definitely be knocked out.
Negreanu, Hellmuth, Kelly, Bonomo, Glantz, Bjorin, Cody, Kitai, Danzer and McCorkell are definitely still in. Duhamel is half in, but hasn"t lost the last of his chips yet.
The only ones I can"t see any news on are Zhang and Carrel.
-
Carrel is still there low-stacked and just survived a flip sixty eliminations away from the money.
-
So, the players are on a dinner break. When they return, it is likely to take quite a long time to get down to 1,000 players.
Steve has lost two of his players, but is still a big favourite. If all our remaining players make the points, and none of them reaches the final table, he will win.
He would collect three points, with Hellmuth being his captain, and would finish on ninety-two. Also having Hellmuth as captain, Tom would pick up five points for his four players and would overtake Carl, finishing on ninety-one. Carl would just receive one point to finish on ninety and Barrie would have eighty-nine, having collected a point each for his three remaining players.
Of course, it might not work out like that............
-
Pretty much as I predicted, Moorman takes a massive flip about 100 off the money and busts out.
-

So I have four still in, bet they don"t all make the November 9, although it would be nice ;D
-
Play has just finished for the day, with 661 players still in the tournament.
With the exception of Zhang, who I can find no mention of, and presumably must have fallen unannounced, all our remaining players made the money and, more importantly, the points, which means that the top of the league now reads:
92 Steve
91 Tom F
90 Carl
89 Barrie
However, if we get one or more players onto the final table, this will change, so it"s still not over.
Carrel and Kelly have been knocked out ITM, but the others are all still there. End-of-day chip counts have not yet been announced.
-
We decided to pay the top 4 right ???? ;) ::)
-

Super tight ending to the series..
Tom and me will be looking for a Danzer FT to push Steve off top.. Tom having the bragging rights of chief fantasy poker picker!!
Thought I would be smart and go against Hellmuth this year as everyone else would choose him.. Nearly worked out for me, big game changer for me was Mercier not winning his second bracelet and skipper Chidwick not claiming that elusive bracelet..
Hellmuth scoring a mahoosive 36+ points for those who had him as skipper was where the game was won..
Already looking forward to next years competition.. I"m gonna suggest next year there will be NO catergories and we pick 8 players at random.?
-

Kitai could also win it for Tom.
I"m going to go for the underdog and bet that Barrie comes from the back and wins with a Cody FT.
I just hope that Cody and Bonomo don"t both get there, cos Suzanne would catch me, with the point that Carrel has already earned. These lads have definitely performed well since Suzanne took them in hand, but I"m hoping that at their age they"ll run out of stamina and will be feeling drained going into Day 4.
-
Melanie Weisner is out.
Okay, none of us have her in our team, but what does that matter?
Ms.Weisner was registering in the booth next to me when I reg"d for the Seniors. i can report that they/she are/is as impressive in real life as this picture suggests.
-
Think i picked her last year ... she wasn"t dropped because of her looks :)
-
Day 4 started with 94-year-old William Wachter, who is still in the tournament, being introduced to the crowd and getting a big round of applause. The pleasantries continued with William being asked if he would like to address a few words to the other players. Wachter isn"t one for sycophancy: "I didn"t come here to lose" probably wasn"t the speech they were expecting.

-
Four hours into Day 4 and we are down to 450, with almost a third of the starting field eliminated.
We have lost our three players with the fewest chips at the start of the day:
565 Duhamel
605 Bjorin
625 Kitai
To be frank, our remaining seven will need to give themselves a good shake if they are going to get anywhere near the final table and change the outcome of the league.
Bonomo has fallen off the pace and is languishing down in 166th, but is still our second-highest player. Glantz is our best-placed in 55th and the rest don"t deserve to be discussed, such has been their pitiful performance today.
-
Also eliminated today were Shane Warne in 597th place and Beppe off EastEnders in 649th. That poor guy is destined to be known for the rest of his life as Beppe from EastEnders, no matter what else he may do over his remaining years.
William Wachter did lose after all, though his 524th place was higher than these two losers or the three losers already knocked out from our teams.
Warne seems to be replacing the pounds he lost during his Liz Hurley period.

For Phil Hellmuth, the World Series is over.
-
George Danzer eliminated in 280th place.. So it now all depends on Mr Cody? Otherwise Steve has bragging rights for 2015?
-
Event #68: No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT - Day 4
237 players left.
Danzer & McCorkell are out.
Four march on:
31 1.350m Bonomo
32 1.335m Negreanu
98 802k Glantz
107 764k Cody
Which means we still can"t put this damn competition to bed. The top three, Steve, Tom and Carl will stay in that sequence no matter what happens. Barrie is the wildcard - if Cody gets to the final table, he will leapfrog everyone and win the league. If Negreanu gets there, and Cody doesn"t, he will overtake Carl for third. In fact, from nowhere, George would draw level with Carl as joint fourth.
A lot of people have Negreanu and can still pick up some extra points. Paxo still has Cody, along with Negreanu, and Gareth, unbelievably, still has three players going, with Glantz, Bonomo and Negreanu.
The other aspect of interest to some is the race to avoid coming last. Suzanne has Cody and Bonomo is her Captain. Neither of them has done much to repay her faith in them in the Series so far. Maybe this is the time. I have no players left to help hold her off.
-
An exciting finish is in store! Do you know what the payouts are? It makes sense to let the winner get all the glory, so the cash can just be awarded to 2nd place.
-
Haha so much for my predictions of only getting 3 of our players into the cash :D , must be a record to get so many through going on previous years!!
-

Ok peeps we have finally got all the money in the kitty £230.
As most of you have replied to your PM the general consensus is that the majority of you prefer to spread the love so to speak.. So a decision has been made to award cash for top 3!! as follows.
1. £130 + APAT National seat.. and more importantly BRAGGING RIGHTS!!
2. £70 + kudos for not being quite as clever as first place.
3. £30 + Kudos for better than 20 other not quite so good as 1+2
Hope you are all happy with this.
Here is the post from earlier Tom.. So far you are "not quite as clever as first place" and are currently in the running for £70
-
Im excited ;D

A lot of people have Negreanu and can still pick up some extra points. Paxo still has Cody, along with Negreanu, and Gareth, unbelievably, still has three players going, with Glantz, Bonomo and Negreanu.
The other aspect of interest to some is the race to avoid coming last. Suzanne has Cody and Bonomo is her Captain. Neither of them has done much to repay her faith in them in the Series so far. Maybe this is the time. I have no players left to help hold her off.
Ahem.....
By my reckoning, which has been known to be wrong on rare occasions, if Mr. Negranau wins, I would get 20 points as he is my Capitano, and would give me 97 points which I dont think anyone else can match. I may however be wrong!!!!!
-
I think they are saying that the max you can get in the main event would be 5 (10 if he"s your captain) otherwise this competition would end in November
-
Sorry Richard, I had totally overlooked that Negreanu is your captain.
If he reaches the final table, we will have no option other than waiting til November to find out that he doesn"t win and Steve wins the league anyway.
Can"t understand how I missed that. I blame Diana Svensk.
As it happens, he is currently in 91st place, so it is 50/50 that he won"t get there.
-
I"ve got other things to panic about - Bonomo has only gone up to 5th place and Cody is still around in 52nd. Will this nightmare never end?
Negreanu and Glantz are still there too, a bit further down.
156 left.
-
Thanks for running this, made the wsop a bit more interesting although I didn"t trouble the top spots was fun, cheers.
-
Neymar was at the Rio today to support a friend, though it seems to have turned out the other way round:
Felipe Mojave Ramos finished 128th.
-
Six hours into Day 5, and the bad news is that Fatima Moreira de Melo, Susie Zhao and Lily Newhouse have all been knocked out today, joining Irina Batorevich, who went late yesterday.
Diana Svensk is still there, now in 37th, having recently won a huge pot by pulling off a massive all-in river bluff, which she showed.
Oh yeah, Glantz is out too.
Bonomo still in a final-table position. :(
120 left.
-
Big news for Barrie and Richard. Negreanu has just had a full double-up, AIPF with KK v AK and is now up to 19th.
Yesterday he virtually doubled with AK against Hellmuth"s QQ. This time he gets the right result again.
He has also rivered the nuts a couple of times when there were already lots of chips in the pot.
He won"t have much to complain about if he loses one from in front at some point.
-
And Cody has gone in the last hand before dinner, bluffing all-in against George McDonald, who was holding the nuts.
McDonald, from Glasgow, has only one result showing on HendonMob since January 2013, which was winning £155 for his share of a three-way chop in a £13 tournament at Aspers Newcastle four weeks ago.
And so end Barrie"s hopes of winning the league.
-
And................regarding the Negreanu situation..........
Steve had 89 points before the Main Event. He has picked up three points so far from this event, two for having Hellmuth as his captain and one for Negreanu, taking him to 92.
Richard started the Main with 77 and has also earned three so far, two for having Negreanu as his captain and one for Hellmuth, putting him on 80.
If Negreanu wins the tournament, Richard will receive 20 points (ie another 18), taking him to 98. [You quoted 97, Richard, but I"m assuming that missed your Hellmuth point.]
However, a Negreanu win would also give Steve 10 points (another 9), which would get him up to 101. Similarly, Tom would be on 100 and Barrie would also reach 98. George and Chris would also overtake Carl.
A non-winning Negreanu final table would give third place to Barrie.
So Steve cannot now be overtaken for first place. The same applies to Tom for second. A win for Negreanu is still unlikely but we can"t yet declare it.
-
So the winner of the league for 2015 is Steve Ball.
Second is Tom Fielding.
Third place not yet decided.
-
Thanks John its been Fun , Hope you do it again next year.
i"ll try to pick players that turn up .lol

Thank you for running it. It was ever so tight at the top, which made it all the more exciting.
I hope you guys run another one next year.

Top work John and Carl... looking forward to next years.

Thanks to everyone involved in the running of this, especially that Mint fella, been great fun like other people have said. Hopefully will get closer next year. A s

Excellent work guys, was an enjoyable thread to browse and exciting for the players I"m sure.
On the Staker front, based on current positions as of today, ie if Negreanu and Bonomo were to exit in their current positions, then the entrants would fare as follows:-
Carl Pilgrim - Staked: $9999 - Won: $4126
Simon Lawlor - Staked: $10000 - Won: $0
Simon Brooke - Staked: $10000 - Won: $15723
Suzanne Hayward - Staked: $10000 - Won: $18420
Tom Feilding - Staked: $10000 - Won: $0
Steve Ball - Staked: $10000 - Won: $17233
-
It has been great fun & thank you for organising.
Obviously winning helps but I enjoyed it last year when I think I finished about fifth.

Has been a fantastic game really enjoyed the bants!!
Congrats to Steve and Tom and whoever finishes third..
Huge thanks to John who has done another brilliant job of logging all the results and points, thanks to APAT for the added value.
Will contact the winners in due course and sort out the winnings, just need to double check on the Hendon Mob on all results so there are no discrepincies, as once the money is sent its final.
Looking forward to next years comp, hope we can get a few more involved and perhaps tweak the rules a little, maybe scrap categories and just have your top 8 or 10 picks..?
-
Aw shucks!
-
But hold on, this isn"t over. There are still three guys sweating over the all-important third place.
This is like the Americans running all over the Ryder Cup 18th green when there were still shots to play.
-
If Negreanu reaches the final table, third place won"t be resolved until November. A win for him would mean Richard and Barrie sharing third. A final table without a win would mean that Barrie is third on his own. Failing to reach the final table would hand third place to Carl.
At the other end, if Bonomo gets to the final table, Suzanne will overtake me, whether he wins or not. If he does win, she will draw level with Adam Sz above me.
Bonomo was around fifth place for a long time last night and actually lay in second position at the dinner-break. Then he lost his way, calling an all-in four-bet for over a million chips with TT and finding himself against KK and then dropped 1.2 million in another hand where he ended up folding, to finish down in 56th place. Mind you, Toby Lewis called 1.2m pre-flop with 88 in very similar circumstances to Bonomo"s TT, but won the hand (and went from 1.3m to 3.1m in another hand with 99 v AT and AQ), so maybe you just have to take chances at some point. Can"t imagine Hellmuth getting in with those hands, though, seeing as he three-bet 88 and then folded them face-up to a four-bet.
-
Justin Bonomo has been eliminated in 64th place, which must be disappointing after vying for the lead late yesterday.
He"s American, apparently. I always thought he was Canadian.
-
Maybe as a suggestion for next year, don"t count the winner of the ME so that the outcome can be decided in July.
As an alternative, award then ten points to the final table chip leader.

At least I had a wee sweat at the end.
Really enjoyed this and now I have an idea how to play I should do better next year :D
Many thanks Carl and John for the banter, it was fun :-*
Congrats to Steve, Tom and whoever comes third (it wont be me)

Down to thirty-six at dinner on Day 6.
That man Negreanu won"t go away, currently lying twelfth. He has increased his stack a lot today and, somewhat out of character, not just by relying on race-for-your-life double-ups.
There are twenty-six Americans, five Germans and one each from Canada, Belgium, Italy, Scotland and Israel.
Five Germans??
George McDonald from Glasgow is only a few eliminations away from becoming British.
-
One for the ladies.
Justin "Stealthmunk" Schwartz - currently in 16th place.
He has a heads-up match coming up against Negreanu with an unusual proposition. If he wins, Negreanu pays him $100k but he doesn"t collect unless he gets down to 22% body fat within a year. If he loses, he pays Negreanu $100k, but gets it back if he gets to 22%.
He previously made a bet with Bryn Kenney a few years ago that he wouldn"t have sex for ten years. He eventually bought himself out of that, but I gotta think he should have saved the money. I would have thought he had a good chance of winning that one.
-
Randall Clinger (yes really) gets all-in twice in 15 minutes and each time said "Sir, I would like to wager all of my betting units". In case that didn"t make him look idiotic enough, he then ran two laps around the table each time to make sure. Thankfully, he was eliminated the second time.
Ridiculous - Corporal Randall Clinger

The money has already hit my account - if only the WSOP cages were as efficient as you guys.
Many thanks
-
This league has been so close throughout. I fully expected it to be resolved before we got to the Main Event, barring some theoretically possible but outlandish outcome of someone having multiple finalists. I never imagined that we would get all the way through to Day 7 with positions still not decided. Yet here we are - and the full result still might not be known even when the Main Event gets down to the November Nine.
-
I have also received my winnings.
Very efficient & Great Fun!
-
I may have mentioned this previously on this thread, although I genuinely cant remember, but more importantly I cant be bothered to go back and look tbh.
When I played the WSOP Seniors, we started with only 4 on our table. Gradually the table fills up and the last to sit down is a guy in seat 8 who is chatting in french to a young lad standing behind him. In his first hand he 4 bets what appeared to be blind and got the required folds. I didnt recognise him, but the radar was on thats for sure, and i made up my mind to avoid a clash with him if possible.
the very next hand I get Kc Kd on his big blind and I raise obv. he looks at me, smiles and calls. the flop comes 8 high, so and he checks, I bet 800 or similar and he folds. 1-0 me.
Towards the end of level 2, this happened.
Blinds are 50/100.
utg raises in seat 3 to 300.
It folds to seat 7 who raises to 1100.
Seat 8 (the french speaker) calls.
It folds back to the raiser who 5 bets to 2500
Seat 7 shoves.
Seat 8 shoves
Seat 3 calls. so we have a 3 way all in on level 2.
Seat 3 has Ah A s
Seat 7 has Jd Js
Seat 8 has Ac Kd
The flop comes Kh Ks Qc. Seat 8 looks annoyingly smug and knocks them both out with the worst hand and is the chip leader in the room. At the end of level 4 he was out, having called every single raise and donked the lot!!!!! - :o
Now I get to see who he is as his name is on the leaderboard. He is a Belgian guy called Pierre Neuville.
I Hendon Mob him and this is what I see :-
http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=95598&_ga=1.210538517.1612113074.1426035748
Interestingly we both won our first flags in November 2009, but he has since eclipsed me somewhat. ;D
I chat with him about APAT Belgium and the event I played in Namur and he smiles and says ahh Namur, as if he has some young lady shacked up there.
And of course now he is in the final 27 on the ME in Las Vegas, having been the chip leader going into day 6.
It"s a funny old game.
-
Yeah, Pierre Neuville.
Former Chairman of Hasbro Europe.
Only person to have played every EPT - about 50, I think.
Holds the record for the most successive online qualifications to the EPT Main Event, which was 23, unless he extended it.
Think he has the most EPT cashes too.
Lost heads-up for a WSOP bracelet last year.
He"s got the moves alright. I understand he has adopted a new, more aggressive approach in the last year or two. He probably regarded the Seniors as a small-stakes shallow tournament, so didn"t mind getting it in with anything good in a double/triple-up-or-bust kind of way.

With Negreanu"s exit, one place off the unofficial final table, I can confirm the final position of our six stakers...
Rank Staker Profit
1 Simon Brooke $18,931
2 Suzanne Hayward $6,688
3 Steve Ball $5,501
4 Carl Pilgrim -$5,870
5 Simon Lawlor -$10,000
6 Tom Feilding -$10,000
Well done Mr Brooke, who turned a $19k profit, thanks in no small way to his 5% investment in Daniel. Well done also to Suzanne and Steve who also made profitable picks, not bad in a field of close to 6500 runners.

1 Steve
2 Tom
3 Carl

Monitoring the points for this league has meant that I have spent quite a bit of time looking at results lists, chip-counts and so on over the last few weeks. One thing I have noticed is the strange names of many poker players, so I started noting them. I have grouped them into categories (maybe these can be the categories for next year"s competition?). I think Ofir Mor and Hye Park are my favourites. This list could have been plenty longer, but these were some of the participants in this year"s WSOP:
Famous People
Steve Biko
Eric Blair
Bobby Moore
Antonio Costa
Garry Gates
Means Something
Grant Levy
Hye Park
Justin Gardenhire
Christian Harder
In Park
Frank Lin
Ki Lee / Rich Lee / Stan Lee
Parents Had No Imagination
Chou Chou
Wing Wong
Zu Zhou
Sergey Sergeev
Tom Thomas
Ly Le
Danny Dang
Arturo Ortuno
Parents Had Too Much Imagination
Jewook Oh
Carless Boatwright
Bradford Seagle
Ofir Mor
Ulises Roman
Frosty Gilliam
Just Odd
Rex Clinkscales
Ang Lin Lin Chen An
Mads Wissing
Loyal Sprague
Willy Ding

What was the final table for if Captains weren"t included?
I think i prefer that one ...
-
Great post JM :) Carless Boatwright gets my vote, as he could span more than one category.

Liked this old Irish bookie advertisement for the 1992 WSOP that was doing the rounds on Twitter yesterday.

On the great names front, you just have to love Phil Hel"mouth". :)

If captains didn"t score double, the result would still have been very close, with numerous people in the shake-up. The sweat would have been similar, in that the winner would have been known, but we would have been waiting to see if Carl would be overtaken by the swarm of Negreanu-lovers just below. Suzanne would have tailed off even more.

Just to record the ideas suggested for next year so far, so we can pick them up for discussion:
- Don"t have categories - just choose 8 or 10 players
- Don"t include Main Event, so it definitely finishes in July
- Award Main Event points as per Nov 9 standings
- Don"t have captains (or reduce the weighting)
These are just thoughts - feedback welcome.

What are your thoughts on allowing 1 substitution.. Say has to be made before Event 34 ( roughly half way).. Does this cause problems with your excell sheet etc?
Think I like the idea of not having captains score double etc..
-
Does this mean i can at least have bragging rights for picking the highest scoring team :D
-
Also would anybody be up for doing this something like this next time round?

The model would need some reworking, but spreadsheets can do anything.
Personally, I don"t like the idea of substitutions, but others may.
Anyway, we have plenty of time to think about it. This is really just to collect ideas while it"s all still fresh. We can decide which to go with closer to the start of the next one.

Also would anybody be up for doing this something like this next time round?

The scoring is fairer but is more complicated.
Maybe the awarding of points based on finishing positions on the final table is better than only the winner getting extra points.
It also uses chip stacks in the Main Event for the November Nine to determine points, which I like.
The ranking of events sounds like too much work for the organisers.

Categories are good IMO
Use Chipstacks to determine points for ME
Like Captains double points
Not keen on substitutions

What if the competition was Staker style and run through our new website. So, say we give each entrant $50k to fantasy stake players across the series with the winner being the one who turns the most profit. Would be ultra realistic and supported by leaderboards, prizes, etc.

Thank you very much for the medal - that was a nice touch. I will be counting this as an APAT medal, for that is whence it came.

Just a thought, how about a joker style captain. You have to choose him for say 1 event. If he scores, or final tables that event, extra points/double points or something like that?
-
Virtually everyone includes Hellmuth and Negreanu, which seems a bit pointless as they all cancel out. How about making them ineligible for selection?
You could think of it like Desert Island Discs - we give you Hellmuth & Negreanu, now go and choose eight more players.

Virtually everyone includes Hellmuth and Negreanu
This is true.. I tried to be clever (didn"t work) although if Hellmuth hadn"t of won a bracelet or had such a good series it would of been so different.
Barry would of been laughing if Jason Mercier had of converted another bracelet.. I would of been laughing if Chidwick had of won that bracelet v Pescatorie .. It"s all fine lines.

Very true Carl , I was fortunate enough to be the only player to have Mercier as my captain and if he hadn"t bubbled a final table or hadn"t finished 2nd when playing for his 2nd bracelet of the series I would have been home and dry. All ifs and buts tho.
How about having it in the style of a fantasy football league. But instead of having each poker player individually valued (which would be very difficult) why not give each APAT member a set amount of virtual money to spend on there team ie £50 million, but actually have a virtual auction for players selected. That way there would be no duplicate teams or players. It would be very interesting to see how much people would be willing to spend on hellmuth and Negreanu to have either in there team.

What Cuzza is suggesting is basically the same as the fantasy draft.
Keep the points the same or tweak a little but love the idea of the auction and no team having duplicate players.
I would be up for doing both anyways, so could keep this one as it is and run a trial of the other one? Don"t think it needs to be 50 million but obviously a budget.
