Title: Marked cards / inferior card quality at WSOP
Post by: Zozzy on June 24, 2015, 21:40:20 PM
David "Bakes" Baker has made a stand and is boycotting the rest of the World Series until the cards are replaced by a better quality, and he accuses WSOP of not taking security seriously.

I can"t say in all honesty that I noticed any cards with "marks" on them but without a doubt the were bowed horribly. Almost every hand I was trying to straighten them out and I do remember thinking that they were very poor quality and nothing like as good as the ones we use in casinos here.

Print very small too. My eyes are fine, but in seat 2 I had no chance when seat 8 flipped their cards.

The problem the WSOP have (having discussed this with someone) is that for Kem"s/Copag"s to be used (which is what we use over here), you"re looking at $20 for a setup (2 decks etc, printed with logos).

The WSOP go through over 20,000 setups during the series.

You do the maths :)

Have to say I found them fine. It can be difficult to distinguish them in the stud games when some players put their face-up cards on the black & white wsop logo printed on the tables, but that was an issue last year as well. Apart from that,  they seemed alright to me.

A drop in the ocean considering the juice they/the Rio charge on every buy in  ;)
