For those who don"t know me I"m dropping in to say Hi. here is the place for Irish APAT members to make themselves known.
I used to be described by the bods at Paddy Power Poker as a semi-pro - semi-amateur might be more accurate. You can check out my Blog for more information on me by following the link.

As Captain of the Irish team I will be looking to appoint members from the leader board as a priority. I won"t play myself. my next game is The Irish Poker Classic at the Macau in Cork next Friday. So if anyone is playing that come up and say hello.
Thanks to Des and the team at APAT for proposing me. It"s always an honour to represent the green, white and gold.
-
Hi Len,
I am interested in the event. I have plenty of experience with team events. I captained the winning team at the IPO which had the largest ever field in Europe. Obviously since I don"t have any APAT leader-board points you should be picking those that do ahead of me but in the event that those players are unavailable I"d be interested in playing for Ireland.
Nicky.
-
Consider your hat thrown into the ring Nicky.
-
As I said on Boards Len, give us a shout if you like - I"d be interested in participating. My live tournament record:

Cheers.

Cheers Lloyd
Of course I"m already familiar with your record. You would be a great addition to the team. Your hat is in the ring with Nickys.
-
Hey,
As PM"ed on Boards I"d like to get involved with this. Sounds like a fun event! BTW kicked that donkey Nicky"s ass at the IPO :-p

Oh, i also have one of those fancy hendon mob pages, but its nowhere near as sexy as Lloyds.... http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=94678

Congratulations on your appintment Len, look forward to meeting you and the rest of the Irish team in Brighton, first guinness on me.
-
Thanks Dewi
Of course none of the Irish Team drink so it"s a banana smoothie for me.... ah go on - you twisted my arm. I"ll have the pint then.
See you in Nov.
-
Hi
I am interested in the team event and have lots of tournament experience.
I have 39 points in the APAT league and have found some live form recently in slow structured, deep stack events.
Please put my hat in the ring and if you need any more information I will happily pm you.
Cheers
Colin

Cheers Colin
I"m away in Cork for the weekend - But please do PM me your details and I"ll respond when I get back.
-
Good news - Paddy Power Poker are sponsoring the Irish team for travel and accommodation. A big thank you to Noel, Mike and Eric.
Which I think is fantastic for an amateur event as all the player has to worry about is his / her entry fee. It will probably mean I"ll have more of a headache than I already have in terms of picking the team - but is a real boost.
-
N1 PPP, thats pretty decent!
-
Hi Len
good result in cork wp (was getting very excited at one stage :D)
will ya throw my name in the ring for this as well my hendon thingy is attached below

Hi Len,
I havent competed in the APAT tour so no points there for me. I do have a lot of team event experience though, captaining the kerry team that finished 4th in the Irish championships, and captaining the Cue Club team to victories in the Macau festival team event and Big Slicks team event tourney.
I"d like to throw my hat in the ring as I love the buzz of team events.
Connie
-
Pat and Connie your hats are both very welcome. It"s going to be very tough picking just four players.
-
Hi Len
I"d love to play in this. Finished 6th in the APAT Dublin event 2007.
-
You"re on my list snapper thank you for throwing your hat into the ring.
-
Hi Len
Sorry to be a pain, but I was just wondering if I was on your shortlist for the Irish team. The last I heard you told me that youd get back to me.
Thanks
Col
-
Indeed I will Col
There"s that little matter of the festival at the Vic. Des getting a list of all the Irish Apat members to me plus contact details, etc etc. I won"t be making my decisions until I have all the information to hand.
Having said that as far as I am aware you are indeed the highest ranked Irish APAT member. If that is still the case after the festival you will automatically be offered a place by me.
As soon as that is confirmed I"ll let you know. But I would say it looks very good for you Col.
-
Thanks. Snapper might have something to say about that but with a few events left, there is still a lot to play for. :)
-
Ah yes - Having now identified that Snapper is John Murray and that he is four points ahead of you I guess he would have something to say LOL.
You are both very much in the running.
My feeling is that loyalty to APAT should also count in terms of team selection.
Are either of you playing any of the events at the festival?
-
I am unable to, but I know John is playing the main event.
I am hoping to play the remaining on-line games, 4 remain and are scheduled to take place in the next couple of weeks.

The challenges of international event management! Snapper is Brendan Byrne, who made the FT of the Irish Amateur event in 2007. John Murray is MintTrav.

Sorry, Snapper finished 6th in 2007 and MintTrav finished 6th in 2008. ???

Thought I was Coprey - gosh this is confusing.
Anyway, I have carefully reviewed the photos and have come to the unbiased conclusion that the seat has to go to me cos I have more chips!!
Good luck with the Onlines, Colin (not too much).

John,
I thought you were Jack something or other ?
This is confusing and this is just one of the teams.
Leigh
-
Yeah Leigh, I started as Jack1 but when I tried to play under that name, it inexpicably seemed to be taken already on almost every site. I then spent ages trying other names (Jack2, for example...........) but no luck, so I made up this one and, surprisingly (!), no-one else had taken it. I"m using this on any site I play, so I thought I may as well change my name on here so people could recognise that it is the same person and continue their abuse here if they wish.
-
Apologies John and Brendan for the confusion. I mis-clicked on the Hendon Mob Database - Was in Manchester yesterday on Business and only got back to this today.
However are you interested in playing for the team John? And can I throw your hat into the ring?
-

All makes sense then. Murray Mint ? Not sure about the Trav bit though ???

Maybe John looked like Dave Lee Travis when he was younger??

Yes Len, please include me in your beauty parade.
-
Mirror mirror on the wall I"m still the ugliest of you all.
In and odds on.

Hi,
Just wanted to put my name into the ring for the Irish team. Love playing at the APAT events and am good for the entertainment value if nothing else. Des will back me up on that!!!! WOOP WOOP
Dave Green
(allinbob2)
-
Hi Dave
Well played at the weekend mate. Was following the action and rooting for you.;)
-
-
Just wondering when your going to pick the Ireland Team. I think we should all go to support who ever gets in the Irish team(hope its me) they will need to book flights and accom soon. We should get T-Shirts printed to for the team WOOP WOOP.
Dave
AKA(allinbob2)
Dont forget its an amateur event so posting your Big wins is a bit pointless if the Pros get a seat whats the point. lol
-
Dave, I think it might be after the final APAT ranked events are played out.

There will be no pros playing, but similarly we cannot rule out successful amateurs. Len will cover off all of these questions with his selections prior to announcing the team.
-
Des and Col are correct on both points. Plus being an Amateur myself the day job takes up quite a bit of time.
I think the way it"s shaping up is that I will probably pick the top three Irish players from the league and have one wild card Captains pick - Like Faldo, but hopefully not as controversial.
I plan to make offers when the final points tally is in. Once offers have been accepted by all concerned I"ll announce the team.
Paddy Power are sponsoring us for flights , and accommodation to the tune of £1500 for the whole team. Players will have to pay their own entry fee [and bar bills :-) ]
Any questions I"ll get back asap. But this coming week I"m up against a tight deadline so apology in advance if I take my time.
-
Announcements and decision making coming soon. Any last minute claimants - Now is your last chance.
John and Colin have been offered places by right - Having finished top two [Irish players]
-
Congratulations to John and Colin. Any chance of a seat Len?!? ;D
-
-
Thanks Dave
For what its worth I think you"d be a great addition to the team. I know you really love the APAT events, and there is no doubting your ability. Good Luck!
-
Thanks Colin,
I may come over anyway and be the Water(beer) boy if MrsAllinbob lets me. Thanks for the support!!! Woop Woop

Update
All my offers are out at the present time. The last spot I have thought long and hard about - I will confirm when I get responses and the team is finalised.
Dave - Should anyone turn down a place - Or not be able to make it last minute - I would be delighted to have you as an alternate if you are up for that.
I cannot question your enthusiasm and commitment - the only reason I could not offer you a place outright I feel was just because of your position in the rankings this year.
Let me know what your thoughts and feelings are on this.
all the best
Len

The Irish team is now confirmed as:
John Murray
Colin O"Prey
Brendan Byrne
Pat O"Callaghan
With Dave Green as our alternate
John and Colin were picked as 1st and 2nd Irish players in the league. Brendan Byrne was picked for his FT appearance last year.
Pat O"Callaghan is the Captain"s pick. Pat has been chosen for his experience. He has had great results in the Irish Open -cashing twice and the WSOP ME cashing this year.
I also know him personally and he is a very personable chap who will add to the team in every way.
I wish I could have five team members because there is no doubt that another asset would be Dave Green - I haven"t met Dave yet but I"m looking forward to doing so. Dave has agreed to be our alternate. He will step in if anyone has to bow out for any reason.
Paddy Power are sponsoring us. And Des has agreed to pay the bar bill. *
Congratulations all and looking forward to the event.
* Only kidding Des :-)

congrats all
