http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/
So with the WSOP taking off again in a few months im gonna run the yearly Fantasy Poker league hopefully with Mr Murrays valuable assistance..
Plenty of time to start thinking of your players, but just need more input about possible changes to this years game..
I think each year we run it it gets better and better, but always room for improvement!..
I have my own personal thoughts this year on possible changes...
1. Scrap catergories.. Im thinking this handcuffs you if say you want to have a team made up of entirely random picks. (like a team full of women :D) or say a team full of Brits..
2. Increase from 8-10 players.
3. Allow 2 subs say up to and including event 34 (about halfway through).
4. Tweak scoring so any event with say over 3000 runners scores more for FT or Win?..
5. Allow a person to have more than 1 team but a maximum of 3
Just a few possible changes.. But looking for input from the rest of you.

Looking forward to this once again.
I"ll get on my usual soapbox about scoring this type of things.
It is incredibly difficult to cash and even more difficult to make the FT table of a WSOP event and even moreso to actually win one.
My personal opinion is that the points need to be heavily loaded towards those who FT and even more towards those who actually win a bracelet. I think the Formula 1 scoring system has this just about spot on and I"m sure it would work here
Maybe the following tweak might help things.
1st - 25 pts
2nd - 18 pts
3rd - 15 pts
4th - 12 pts
5th - 10 pts
6th - 8 pts
7th - 6 pts
8th - 4 pts
9th - 2 pts
cashing 1 pt
Just my opinion.

I like this scoring system aswell, rewards the higher placings for sure.

I like points 1, 2 and 3 from Carl and also the scoring system proposed by Curlarge.
Not keen on point 4, think one scoring system keeps things simple and i think it"s better that everyone just has one team, i think 3 teams would give the poker nerds far too much of an advantage and might put off some people from putting one team in for a bit of fun as they now have a worse chance of winning.

My hat"s in the ring
So many innuendos that I must resist!!

There were a few ideas suggested at the end of last year"s one, most of which are on Carl"s list : http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=18018.450
I would agree with scrapping categories and would be okay with increasing the number on a team and giving more points for more entrants, though I don"t really mind. Don"t like substitutions or having more than one team.
Some other suggestions were not having captains as it can distort scores too much, not including the Main as it could all drag on, including the Main but scoring per July chip-counts, excluding Negreanu and Hellmuth, giving extra points for a joker and holding a player auction. I would add that it seems odd that we didn"t include the National Championship, which is a WSOP bracelet event, especially as my pick Loni won it.

Yeah don"t mind scrapping Captain, I think with Richards scoring system this works fine..
Would need to obv sort out system for HU events.

Coming wheeeeeeeennnnnnnnnn?????????? ;D

Mid May latest. Just about to start testing.

Will be contacting JM this week and perhaps finalise rules.. Gives people a month to do homework and pick their squad..
Will probably be 8-10 picks of your own choice, no Captains and most def Richards scoring system.
Get thinking folks, some new names def gonna be in the mix this year for sure ;)

Like the idea of no categories but how about using the GPI for selecting your players based on rankings.
You have a team of 8-10 as suggested. GPI ranking 1-20 - 1 player selected (most valuable ) ranking 21-50, 2 players selected. Rankings 51-80 , 3 players selected etc.
Think this would help cut down on as many duplicate teams/players . Just a thought
Not sure if this makes much sense, I"m ****e at trying to explain stuff lol

Think that just complicates matters a little.. If some teams are very similar I think that"s a good thing in some ways as if they flunk during the series it gives those who have done their homework and picked players out of the box so to speak and they do well it rewards them.

We haven"t had our usual debate about what to do with the Main Event yet.
Does our new scoring system apply equally to the ME, or is there a bonus?
When does the competition end? What happens if the result isn"t decided when the final table is reached? Do we wait til November or close it off in July? If we end it, do we give all final-tablists the same points (how many?) or score it by chip-count? What about the WSOP National Championship, which is a bracelet event (my girl Loni won it last year, but no need to mention that). http://www.wsop.com/news/2015/Jul/7443/LONI-HARWOOD-WINS-WSOP-NATIONAL-CHAMPIONSHIP-AND-341K.html
I don"t think I have an opinion on any of this, other than that we should decide it all now to avoid uncertainty later on.

The scoring system is the same for ME as others John.. TBH the collososs and Milly maker etc are huge feilds to navigate aswell..
If by any chance a player reaches the November 9 I"m sure it probably wouldn"t change the result of the July table? But we could indeed score it by chip count to decide a winner.
Lonnie who??
