Title: Sky Poker UK tour
Post by: Chipaccrual on October 05, 2008, 12:58:05 PM
Leg 2 of the Sky Poker UK tour has now sold out.

How many APAT"ers have we got going ?

Leg 2 of the SPUKT takes place at one of Sky Poker"s favourite venues - The Broadway Casino, Birmingham. On Saturday 8th November with a £5000GTD prize pool. In addition to the £5000 GTD prize pool we are giving the top 10 players a seat into the £25k GTD SPUKT Grand Final in June worth £220 each!

And a bit of warning for our friends up north, the SPUKT Leg 3 is to be held at The Gala Casino, Edinburgh on 31st January 2009. Watch the skypoker website for more information.

You can only get in by satellite - and it"s sold out

I think the sky levels are about 1 minute online

So probably about 3 minutes live ;D

Well, as you know I qualified on the same night as you Leigh - think it was a week field that night or something...

The structure of these events is excellent, as is the atmosphere.  Very similar to APAT.

I didn"t like to brag Dan, but as you brought the subject up, yes I have qualified.

And I agree about the weak field that night, apart from Jason, obviously.   ;D

I must admit, I haven"t been back since - so don"t know what it"s like since the card room manager changed.

Got a 100% record there to be maintained.  Chances of that happening, slim to very slim.

WP Kenny and Eck who won a seat tonight :)

Cheers Neil

Absolute comedy in the end Kenny has 905 chips 6 handed with 5 seats think blinds were 300/600. Then some genius decides to get them all in v big chipper with an open ended draw misses and Kenny wins the seat.

Well done Kenny on getting through btw i find it hard to deal with so many crackpots at one time tbh and i"ve played on the same table as MickyP as well  :D

I tried this last night but went out 16th or something out of 31  :( Had a few idiots at my table - including one guy who was bluffing like mad... I was sitting with a pretty decent stack after hitting a full house two hands earlier when I go into another hand, cant remember exact cards but anyway we"re in the hand with a lot of money in the pot, turn card has just peeled off and I have third pair, YES THIRD PAIR, and he goes all in - I just feel he has nothing and call his all in and my read is right as he has just got a flush draw on the turn and thats it - had nothing when he called my bet on flop - you know what happens next of course. Flush on the river. 50p in the tin...

Crippled me and I was done basically ...

Maybe give it another bash!

Florida was superb and I"m still knacked. Had all these idiots dressed in costumes at the theme parks ask to get their photos taken with me, what"s that all about? One of them looked like Homer Simpson and others like Betty Boop, Goofy etc. Think there was a pre halloween fancy dress thing going on  :P

Thought Vegas was the first week in October. Sky Poker screen only shows me the first part of the table description so I"ll have to mess about with it, adjust settings or something.

I know what you mean about the disconnection problem (I'd just joined Skypoker on Monday and was concerned about reliability with there being no application to download) I played one of these last night and we were down to about 12 players (I was pretty short stacked as usual) and the game froze  >:(

The web page for the lobby also froze so I did the usual Ctrl/Alt/Del and ended the application, started explorer again and logged in ok only to be met with a frozen page and no access to the lobby or game.

Tried this 3 times before noticing that when I ended the application explorer was still showing as running in the processes list in Task Manager, but not in the applications. Once I ended that one as well I managed to get back into the web site and game ok  ???

Very frustrating but after getting back into the game I was lucky to manage a quick double up to get me back to short stacked!!

Did manage to qualify and hope you have another crack at it Billy as it would be great to see you there.

Best of luck M8

yeah that was my concern too, with no application, it surely has to make it less reliable? dunno bout reloadin if my money is gonna get wasted.

congrats on qualifying tho, thats quite a few regulars made it (man the pressure is on lol). will see how it goes. i have my induction thurs/fri for the fire service, and my trainin starts on monday for 12 weeks. so dunno if i will have time. wp again.

Disconnects can happen on any network as we know, but the flash based application is actually extremely stable.  Just a shame that some of the dynamos of the Scottish APAT scene don"t appear to have the game to qualify through to the Maybury  ;D

"Flash based applications" can be a problem when you cant get flash player working on your PC. I had to sit out the whole tourney on Sunday with a blank screen. (Sky did refund me, which I thought was very generous, seeing as it wasn"t their fault)

As for the dig at the Scottish APAT dynamos, it was one of them who came to my rescue, so I wont hear a bad word about them......

Disconnects can happen on any network as we know, but the flash based application is actually extremely stable.  Just a shame that some of the dynamos of the Scottish APAT scene don"t appear to have the game to qualify through to the Maybury  ;D

When I said the flash app was extremely stable Ross, it was from a position of knowing that what I said was the case.

Over 8,000 players play every day at Sky Poker and the company offers a good value live tour, in addition to the only dedicated poker channel in the UK.  I will declare; as some of you already know, that I have changed roles at Sky in the last few weeks to become the Head of the Sky Poker business & channel, and some of the programming and product developments scheduled are very exciting.

So by all means state your views, but don"t state them as defacto for everyone, because that is unreasonable imo.

Before anyone asks, this does not impact APAT's position with Blue Square or any third party poker operator.

The normal business of belittling our Scottish players can now resume  ;)

Good response  8), no offense was intended Des and my comment was a bit more tongue in cheek than perhaps it came across as I did know your links to Sky Poker.

Apologies if it you felt i was trying to represent the masses but why do you sensor the words pokerlicious yumminess anyway?  :o

Although that doesn"t work when they reply with, "Yes, he"s warned us about you".

For all those struggling with Sky Poker - what browser are you using?  I play using Firefox and have never (insta-bok probably) had a problem with it.

Firefox user here and no probs either. My gripes with Sky are the fast structures, the inability to resize tables and the sh!te hands that keep sucking out on me.

And oh how I wish I had "the game" along with the patience to drive for two hours and an endless supply of petrol "to qualify through to the Maybury". Cheeky *****!

If like BillyHo you have problems with Sky Poker (or even internet problems whilst you just so happen to be playing there), call Des on his mobile anytime (day or night) on 07*** *** ***.

Will I fill in the blanks above? Let"s wait and see if he slags off the Scots any more!!

The cash games on Sky Poker are very good.  I think the play the presenter is on tonight (might be wrong), and you can play against tikay or Norman Pace.  I bet the waiting lists for those tables are huge!

have just returned to sky poker after having 6 months without being able to get the tables up,,,,think it was summink 2 do with updating adobe flash,,,the live events have a great atmosphere but a long way to go for not a massive prize,,,very good for new to live players,,,oh and the blinds, last time i went and played in a live sky event at the broadway were 20 mins. The online tourneys are good if u dont want to spend 8 hours in a tourney but its pretty luck orientated,,although there are plenty of nutcases to take advantage of lol.

Although I don"t post here much I am indeed a registered member and I was 2nd in the game for £1099 and my seat in the final  :)

Maybe with a little less cider in me I could have won it but the mission was to get the final seat so the ££££"s were a bonus.

I blame the fact that the game over ran by a good couple of hours for my extra cider intake  ;) :)

It was a great day which followed my appearance live in the Sky studio the night before where i played in the primo and a few other games trying to win some money for charity.

I have a lot of fun with Sky poker and I love the live events.

Take care all and stay lucky.

I"ve just qualified for the sky live tour at aspers in march. can anyone tell me what the structure of the tournament is. for those who"ve been to earlier rounds do they have any side tournaments running for if (when) I get knocked out.
