Club Captain

I am pleased to announce that the captain for the Luton Poker Club for the season will be Claire MacGregor.

Claire will be a fantastic club captain for Luton Poker Club.  She is a regular player at the G Casino (and cashes a fair bit too), and is also a great supporter of both APAT and Blonde Poker.

Many thanks,

Leigh

from monkeyman winning blog.......explaining his decision to go to north london club insted of ours........NOW IF THIS ISNT MOTIVATION FOR US ALL........

GAME ON....  ;D

My choice was largely based on where I thought I had the best chance of getting to the final, but I also wanted to see some other names on the list before committing. What I was looking for was names I thought were capable of repeatedly making online final tables and that I recognised from season two as well as the between season mini league. I think the secret to winning the online league is to have as many players as possible capable of making final tables playing as many of the legs as possible. The names on the list already I think are players who will be committed to, and playing their "A" game in, an $11 a time online league. I suppose I"d better start thinking about which GUKPT event I"d like to play in..........................

It"s 20 games, fortnightly on a Sunday night on Blue Square Poker starting at 8pm

Entry is $10+$1 and all games are no limit holdem freezouts.

Hope that helps,

Thank you for your suggestion. As you were kind enough to offer your help to us in the search for a nickname, I thought it would be polite of me to do some research into the wording used. Of those in the top ten of the APAT national rankings in season two, four players have yet to sign for any club, the remainder are committed to Plymouth,Cardiff,Liverpool,Newcastle,North London and Manchester. If we look at the top ten of the post season two mini league, one player is yet to commit, there are two each for Leeds and (ahem) North london as well as one each for Dublin, Edinburgh, South London, Belfast and Brighton. In view of this, I feel we should decline the name you"ve put forward as the facts are at odds with the thinking you"ve used.
As I am currently busy fine-tuning my game ahead of the commencement of season three, I welcome any further attempts you have to find a suitable nickname.

You just have to play as many as possible, no commitment, and they are all online.  In each round the top 3 (i think) scores per club go to the total Club score for that round.

You can play as many or as little as you like.  The top four from each club can score points in each matchday.  And the more games you play and points you score for the team, the more likely you will be to be in the top four should your club reach the grand final.

No minimum commitment though. (Can"t promise you won"t get badgered by your club captain and teammates to play as many as possible though  ;D )

Guys

This will be my first team tournament so I have a few (probably daft) questions:

I presume that there is one MTT running on Sunday covering all divisions, therefore I also presume it is possible that you can end up in a pot with teammates - Is the ettiquette simply that you play the game as normal and if you end up taking out an opponent or they take you out, then this is jus a "casualty of war"?

And if there"s anything else I need to know?

Thanks

i think given the team nature of this, then soft play has to be allowed at certain stages of this (e.g. on the points bubble). I would probably not play soft against a team mate but some people may choose to

There are three seperate MTT"s, one for each region. Therefore the likleyhood is you will be on the same table as some of your fellow team mates. As in all poker collusion and soft play are not allowed and I hope these games are played in the correct Apat spirit.

Is anybody signed up to Luton Poker Club interested in giving the National League a try this weekend?  We appear to have a lot signed on, but only 2 or 3 playing each week.  I will commit myself to playing the next 3 games and hopefully some others will....PLEASE!!!

Or as good old Delia would say "WHERE ARE YOU......LET"S BE "AVIN YOU!!!"  ;D

Have people lost interest?  Are they on AOL, so are having technical problems?  Or what?

So come on, players, captain etc., let"s see what we can do......

Thanks for replying Waz.  I appreciate that we didn"t get off to a great start, but for everyone except one or two to give up after 6 of the 20 games is a bit too early imo.  Even at the halfway point, it is still possible to put a run together.  Bristol put a couple of results together and managed to get back in the hunt.  It"s just a shame that so many lost interest so quickly.  (I am assuming it is a lack of interest, as no-one else replied to my previous post....)  However, I will carry on playing.......

cool..and gl with the rest of the games..  that was my 1st one (sorry!).. I meant with the wasted $10, i didnt reliase the game was not so individual, and more club dictated.

so with only 6 to go or something, not alot of point continueing?..as more closer to the end result gets, the more each TEAM point will matter.   :-\

A real push in the last five games could potentially make a 3rd/4th place finish.  It would be extremely tough.  It"s a shame for Luton, because the players signed up are all very good and there was a lot of potential to do well.

You were a lot of peoples tips to get through to the grand final, but alas, if you aren"t getting the numbers, it is a tough one.

will do my best to play in the rest..but now so far behind, but i  like a challenge.  Does it not have the potential now though for the top clubs in the leaderboard, err..maybe not play to knockout out the team members..thus making it even harder to win any thing with the large club members playing "together" so to speak?   :-\

Soft play and collusion are not allowed, but volume of players does make a difference to the ability of other clubs.

As you say, a challenge.   ;D

will do my best to play in the rest..but now so far behind, but i  like a challenge.  Does it not have the potential now though for the top clubs in the leaderboard, err..maybe not play to knockout out the team members..thus making it even harder to win any thing with the large club members playing "together" so to speak?   :-\

Soft play and collusion are not allowed,

unavoidable surely, in latter stages - and im aware of the high spirt in the APAT..beeing to sum live games and it brill..

not implying it would, but id b surprised if it didnt

I think that is a very fair comment to make.  We have our stance on it, but there is bound to be some stuff going on that we just can"t do anything about.

Probably a bit late joining for this year (what month does it kick off again in 2010?)   .....      but I thought I"d "pop in" and offer my services to my local club.

Online: just ask scjno1.

Live: I play at Luton G regularly - I know Michelle Bash, and Claire (who smokes horrible fags) off here - and can play a bit (only when under the influence).

So "ello Luton!
