Title: Here's an opportunity
Post by: Chipaccrual on January 28, 2009, 10:39:02 AM
Unfortunately Neil "Lukybugur" Dawson has been unable to connect to the APAT forum since last night.  So it"s catch up time guys on his hours online figure.   ;D

On a serious note though, he thinks it is to do with Orange Broadband.  Anyone else use Orange and is able to get on the forum.  Obviously is you do use Orange and can"t get on the forum, a reply is not required.   ;D

Cheers.  (No rush though   ;) )

I think I know what the problem is.  I was having a similar problem.  Just talking to him now...

Why are you telling him the solution.  ffs    ;D

OK - I"m still having problems with the APAT forum.

When I get to the office (BT broadband), I can"t connect to the forum.  I hit my bookmark: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?action=unread which is meant to show all the unread posts since my last visit.

This doesn"t work. Instead I get:

To get onto the forum, I have two choices.  I can disconnect from my wired connection and connect wirelessly.  This means I can then see the APAT forum.  Or I can run a traceroute using a free piece of software, and that does the same thing.

But then when I do connect,  it says that there are no new posts.  It does this every time - which is obviously annoying.

It must be a combination of things at my end, and also with the APAT forum server.  I don"t have the problem at home, and I don"t have the problem with any other site from the office.

My problem is similar to Neil"s, and when he ran the traceroute software, he was also able to connect.

Any network techies got any ideas, as this stuff is way beyond my understanding?

I had that before.

It went away in the end.

Anything else I can help you with?

Sorry Daniel, never seen that before, either at home or work - BT in both places.

I wasn"t involved in building this particular network that I"m using to access the web at work, so I can"t tell you the ins and outs that might give you a clue to your own problems, sorry.

Not sure about the CGI issue but I also frequently get my unread posts "cleared down". Something as simple as closing the browser while still logged into the forum often seems to trigger it, as soon as I open up a fresh browser window and navigate back to the forum the unread postss seem to be reset and I only get any that have been posted since I closed out.
