Title: Routine question
Post by: duke3016 on March 12, 2009, 17:57:03 PM
Beat me - bite me - just be gentle

3 players left - blinds 400/800

Player 1 - Button 8,000
Player 2 - SB 25,000
Me -- BB 18,000

Player 1 all in
Player 2 - fold
Me  jc tc

What would you lot do - he is a good player and I have a healthy respect for his raises most of the time.....

I will share my thought process and action but would like yours first

How active is the table?

How many bets/raises/flops etc for the 3 of you?

Sb - very active
me - not very  ;D
Button - played aggressive early - then stepped back and didn"t get involved too much in the latter stages (possibly looking for a spot).

betting was a little conservative at this point with raises not called too often

edit - raises  3-4 x

fold and shove his blind next hand

tbh you are losing to a big number of hands and if you double him up it puts youself in trouble.

fold and steal some blinds seems the play to me! ;D

Thanks guys - although for my sins I don"t agree with a fold here .

I did call -- why?

1. his range was HUGE (I think)
2. they were suited (LOL)
3. I still had ten back at 400/800
4. I am an eejit
5. it was a Duke call

I hit he had  :2s: :2c:

I agree with you all -- but it"s me you are talking about -- ask Laxie

This is not helping your case here but I"d have called (assuming this is a SNG with 3 places paying). His range most probably was huge and you would still leave yourself with a pushable stack if you lose.....
Yep I"m calling.... so yep it"s the wrong move.... sry  :-[

How does, "His range was huge"

fit in with

button - stepped back - possibly looking for a spot

???

can make argument for both call and fold here - JTs is 40% at worst so long as it"s not dominated..... my fear would be though that I could be up against and AJ type of hand. I would probably fold - don"t want to be calling for half my stack with JT.... woould be more than happy to shove with it though.

that"s just so normal and boring...... JT is such a pretty hand, and they were sooooooted!!!!

Awake now - what was I thinking of.... of course I would never call with JTs for so many chips!! (eh? APAT Walsall? Did I really?)

with 8000 chips he has an "m" of 5-6 so while not imperrilled he needs to make a move at some point however hes also got the luxuary of a bit of breathing space with which to push so id probably fold

Fold, you have plenty of time to wait for a better spot, without having to resort to racing for so much of you stack. In my experience of these SNG ( I presume) you get plenty of opportunity to get your money in with the best of it at some point, especially as you are fairly well stacked.

Fold.

Would rather shove with 73o than call with that hand (or most hands for that matter).

Fold.

Would rather shove with 73o and flop a full house than call with that hand (or most hands for that matter).

Even if you know his range is any2 it doesn"t really make sense to call in this spot, and whilst his range is indeed wide, I doubt it"s as wide as any 2 and I doubt there"s much in it that JT is ahead of!

Think you have to fold this one Ger. On saying that, if it"s the home game, depends who it is and how many beers you"ve had.

I"d go with this.

I think the best you could hope for is pretty much what he had, and I don"t think that much of a risk for that many chips is worthwhile.
