I sometimes play rebuy tournaments, and am curious to know what criteria people use when it comes to the add-on.
Here"s some criteria I guess poeple may consider :-
Always add-on
Stack size in relation to average stack
Number of rebuys already taken
Stack sizes on current table
So what are peoples thought processes at add-on time ?
-
Add-on every time, unless I have to go out and can"t keep on playing the tournament, or if I"ve satted into the rebuy and it"s above my normal level and I have a healthy stack without it.
-
always add on
-
If the add on is more than a normal rebuy/starting stack but is the same price, then the chips are cheap - always add on..... but if I have a healthy stack and am in top 10% of tourney, then no point spending the extra if no additional value in the add on chips.
-
I"d Only add on if the Add on chips represent more than 15% of my stack ie I have 10k - add on is 2k in chips i"d rebuy, but if i have 20k and the rebuy is 2k then i wouldnt add on as its not going to overly effect my M, i wouldnt waste the money
But what do i know!?

i think it depends on your stack size compared to the average as well. If you are well chipped but on average (ie a wild rebuy) you should take it, as those 3k chips (say) could represent a whole lot more if you double through x amount of times, or could save your tourney if you get crippled.
i just always add on because that"s the way i am. A few weeks ago i had 90k in the 3r at the break and still added on...

i have a certain rule... i tend to rebuy straight away (double my stack) then just play my usual game, then i always add on. I dont tend to rebuy again if i bust (unless its a particulary bad table)
had quite a bit of success doing it this way, also stops you multi rebuying!
