Have you been playing Stars Warm Ups etc ...

stars and FT would solve this problem if they only paid the top 10% of the field rather than the top 15%+ that they do at the moment.

However, they are not going to change this policy, because absurdly most people are happy with this arrangement.

1. donks (the majority of FT and stars customers) are happy because they have more chance of cashing and the fact they cash more often keeps them coming back (even though they are losing players)
2. very good regulars are happy because they play enough volume to get enough final tables to make decent money. They also have a load of exploitable players (who are seemingly happy to cash) that can help propel them to the final table

That only leaves decent players who have full time jobs and families and haven"t got the time to play the volume required for noticeable success. that is probably only a very small percentage of their cutomers.

I have stopped playing these big field MTTs, for 2 reasons.

1. I dont have the time to play them to a finish
2. I had 2 top 30 finishes in the space of 2 days for a grand total of about $100 when 2 wins would have given me $10K

I now play 100-200 runner tourneys on party and Poker.co.uk. You dont get the 4 figure scores that you would get on FT and stars, but you do get a better idea of how well you are running and the payouts aren"t too bad

Great run btw steve, I was railing for a bit, but got bored when you went 5 minutes without 1 outering anyone ;)

Aye - all true - and why I head back to Betfair despite their terrible customer service - lots of 100-150 runner events - much more manageable.

That said will likely go for the Sunday Warm Up on Stars have cashed the last three - (never for much!)

I have been playing really tight and only hands that have showed down are Kings - THREE TIMES  :D

Think he"s too concerned with trying to ladder to the next pay spot.

Yeah, guess I would"ve took 9th at the start...

Was looking forward to getting chips at the final table to start playing properly as everyone was so passive for the most part but oh well. Pocket Kings 4 times, I won with them twice and lost with them twice... Ah well. Added to last Saturday"s final table where I took $1,215 that puts my winnings for the last 7 days to over $1,500 so not too bad a week. Although $4k would"ve been nicer, lol  :D

Thanks again for the railage!

Super late so guessing there"ll be nobody up but i"m currently 20th out of remaining 53 in chips (657 started) in the $11 one rebuy & add on tourney on Stars... I never took a rebuy or an add on so only in for $11 and guaranteed $54.76 so far - first prize is nearly $3k though...  8)
Title: Re: brag post in the making, hopefully
Post by: CrizzyConnor on June 26, 2009, 05:21:41 AM
What a rollercoaster of a game that was... I ended up 23rd for $81.40  :(

Thanks to hi_am_chris for the railage.

I was 2nd chipleader after doubling up when I got Aces shortly after posting here...

Then I procede to be dealt pocket 10"s three times in 25 minutes, and lose every time with them.
Must"ve lost well over 250k with them, with blinds at around 1/2k....

Then as shorty I push K7 suited, get called by A10 and I hit 7 on the river to double up.
Dealt AQ, I push again and go up against AK - I hit a Q to put my stack upto around 200k...

I then have pocket Kings and go all in vs QQ and he hits a Q...

I"m back shorty again and push all in with 45suited vs 1010 & A10. I treble up when two 5"s hit...

I am then quiet for 5 or 10 mins until I get dealt Pocket 10"s again...

The Alarm bells go up but SURELY I can"t lose with them for a fourth time...

Blinds & Ante"s increase my stack by 15% and I"m happy with that TBH so I ship it all in...
Find myself up against AA - the same guy who cracked my Kings with Queens, only his hand holds ::)

GG and Goodnight.

Got a good run for your money Crizzy but srsly you should take the extra chips immediately.
View it as a $30 freeze in future to maximise your chances. The knock on effect of the extra chips should not be underestimated!

In the one rebuy / one add-on I usually like to only buy in once initially and play REALLY loose early on to try and build a massive stack then if I trip up the rebuy is there. I done this last night with good success and had like 14k at the break. I didn"t feel the extra $10 for the add-on was worth it as I had everyone at my table covered even after they had taken theirs... I saw being in for only $11 as extra value and like I was playing a $30 freezeout for $11  :)

And again...

10 of 80 remaining in the Ivan Demidov fan tournament.

It"s part of a promotion Pokerstars is doing. Demidov and Eastgate are playing heads up again on Stars tonight with same structure and stacks they had going into HU at the WSOP last year. They had a Demidov fan tourney and an Eastgate fan tourney, you can only play one. Whoever wins - everyone in the top 100 of their tournament gets $100 on top of the prizemoney in the pool.

Demidov FTW

Just luckboxed a huge pot but I"m not complaining:

Finished 11th from intial 728 runners for $76.45 ($11 buy in) + potential extra $100 if Demidov beats Eastgate heads up (Eastgate is 2:1 chipleader at moment though)... I  stupidly open pushed 19bbs with A7 suited from the button to try take blinds and antes (& increase my stack by 10%). Small blind big stack wakes up with AK.... GG

hh pls

Can"t be bothered trawling through HH"s but I had 21bbs and he had 22bbs IIRC, he raised x3 from button. I"m in SB and think he"s position raising so I shove to try take his raise, the BB & antes - he calls with his KJ. I bink a straight...  ;)
