Title: Hotel near Dusk Till Dawn?
Post by: CrizzyConnor on July 10, 2009, 10:55:22 AM
Can anybody recommend a good/cheap hotel near DTD for during the Worlds? I wont have a car as the missus will be dropping me off on the way to her Dad"s on the Thursday afternoon so somewhere that"s preferably within walking distance, although I don"t mind getting a taxi...

Holiday Inn is just 10 mins away - We"re in there the Thursday night for £69 incl breakfast. Just make sure you mention DTD when you book otherwise it"ll be £88.

I"ve just had a rant at Express by Holiday Inn who have booked me into the wrong hotel. I had wanted to stay at Holiday Inn (where I stayed in May) but they"ve booked me into the Express BHI. It"s only 2 miles further away and as my payment was non-refundable, I"m having to stick with it.

That"s pretty ridiculous cutomer service. Fair enough them not giving you a refund but they should switch you over to another room in another hotel within their chain as a gesture of good will and to hold onto your future custom. They"re still getting the money in the end and the future custom... I"d kick up hell about it between now and then, you might get somewhere, plug away at it i"d say!

We booked on Tuesday afternoon, Neil, and I think there were plenty of rooms available. As has been said, plug away.

It was poor that the guy booked me into the wrong one when I specifically gave him the postcode of the one I wanted to stay. I"m not that bothered about it, it"s ONLY two miles further away and I"m away from other reprobates like Ian and Duke. As it"s in the City Centre it"ll prob give me more to do on the days I"m not playing APAT Tourney (that"ll probably be all except the Friday, briefly).

To be honest, whilst Castle Marina is a bit nearer to DTD, its still a fair distance and the extra distance to the city centre isn"t that much of a bind but with the bonus that theres lots of stuff to do on your doorstep.

Also, a cheap but okay place to stay which is very central is the Brittania hotel. Recently I stayed there on a work night out on a Friday for £50, and it was fine as a place to get your head down. For the degens out there, it is also next door to one of the city centre casinos....

There is also a Premier Inn on Castle Marina

The lad in the foreground is just putting his bag on the nearest bunks! 3 x bunk beds and 1 single. 7 in a room sure is good.
The door just skimmed the single as it opened it was that tight. All for a bargain £119. Pls dont let the village idiot book your digs like we did.

Booked hotel last night, got a deal on the city centre one for £43.50 a night.
No breakfast included but i"m sure that"s to be had somewhere nearby for relatively cheap
(and probably better than whatever the hotel would"ve had on offer).

DTD do a good breakfast.  Technically it"s not a breakfast if you have it before you leave to get some sleep, but it"s mighty fine all the same.   ;D

Just booked their promotional rate online which includes breakfast.  If you haven"t already booked, click on the box that says From £45 per night B&B.  Came out to £250 for the 4 nights = £62.50 per night.  Happy bunny.   ;D

I will probably end up there on Friday morning before I leave to get some sleep before the Main Event starts, lol  :D

It"s actually Nottingham Airport at Tollerton.

Wouldn"t normally mention this as obviously you can"t fly there via a mainstream airline but as it"s Dan I thought I"d be a pedantic twat and bring him down a peg or two.
