It is my Privilege to be asked to captain the Northern Ireland team in the APAT European Championship in 2009. It is with some sadness that I stand down from the victorious Ireland team of 2008 and I sincerely hope that the new Republic of Ireland team can manage 2nd and silver in 2009. ;D
I will be keen to hear from any potential players who would be interested in selection for the team and am confident that I will be able to announce team Northern Ireland within the coming weeks. I would take this opportunity to invite those who may be interested in representing "our wee country" to make themselves known, either by forum, PM or email.
Good luck

Introducing Team Northern Ireland
Gerard Harraghy (Calculator86)
A recent finance graduate from Queen"s University Gerard generally runs good even when "card dead". With an admitted favourite starting hand of 83os Gerard has a cheeky approach to the game but should not be underestimated. As well as multiple cash game successes Gerard has finished 2nd in the Ladbrokes IPT earlier in the year, made day 2 in the APAT World Championships (his 2nd APAT live event) and has twice finished 1st in the APAT National League on Blue Square.
Raymond Crowe (sword11)
An ex pool hustler and no stranger to the live game Raymond has 35 years experience playing poker. Raymond's successes include several joint firsts in tournaments in Northern Ireland and too many final tables to mention. Raymond has attended 3 APAT live events in season 3 and regularly plays the APAT National league were he has shown some consistency, making 6 final tables and amassing 30 league points to date.
Gareth Cash (CasgaR)
Gareth started his poker career at the earliest possible opportunity, cutting his teeth crushing SnG's in Belfast's local card rooms, then pitting his skills against established players. Describing this period as educational Gareth later participated in Neil Channing's intensive Black Belt Poker Grading Process and states it was the most challenging thing he has ever completed. The biggest event Gareth has played in to date was the 2009 Irish Poker Open, into which he was staked by Roland de Wolfe.
Colin O"Prey (5kinEm)
I was introduced to internet poker about 6 years ago playing mainly SnG's and quickly building up a bankroll in which to launch an assault at the live game. Finishing 4th in my first ever live event encouraged me further. Most notable tourney success includes winning Dundalk 100 in 2008 then 4th in the next, followed by final tabling the APAT Irish Championship in 2008. A member of the 2008 Irish European Team Champions, or luckboxes if you are Scots or English, I feel privileged to captain this newly formed Northern Ireland Team in 2009.
