Good luck for the APAT Qualifiers in this at the weekend
Here is a press release that explains all
£100,000 GUKPT Champion of Champions Tournament - Player List & Information
On Saturday 5th December at 2pm, the GUKPT Champion of Champions Tournament will take place at the G Casino in Luton. The prize pool of £100,000 has been entirely provided by Grosvenor/G Casinos and their online partner Blue Square Poker. It is a two day tournament and will conclude on Sunday 6th December.
This is the second year that this unique event has been held and the only way to earn a seat into it is to win your way in. Both main events and side events on the GUKPT count as qualifying tournaments. There were also a small number of additional seats which were won via non-GUKPT events such as APAT (the Amateur Poker Association & Tour), the GUKPT National League and the Champions Poker League.
The number of starting chips that each player will receive varies, depending on the size of the buy in of the qualifying event won. Most players will start with 5,000 or 6,000 chips, but there are some players who have won more than one tournament, who will start with significantly more. The maximum starting stack is capped at 25,000, but there are only two players (Karl Mahrenholz and Richard Gryko) who will start with this much.
There is still a chance to qualify for the event as all the side events (up until and including Friday) at the Champion of Champions festival in Luton this week count as the last possible chance to earn a seat into the event.
The prize money for the event is £100,000, however the prize stucture will be determined on Saturday by all players who are there in time for the start of the tournament. Players will be presented with three structures for how the prize money will be distributed and asked to vote on which option they would prefer. Only players who attend the event will be eligible to claim a prize.
Players who have qualified but have not visited the G Casino in Luton before are advised to bring some photo ID with them, as this will be required in order to become a member. All players are also advised that the G Casino in Luton has a very strict dress code - trainers, ripped or torn jeans, hoodies and sportswear are not permitted.

GL APATers, a tall order to pull back that chip defecit, but it would be great if one of you guys could run deep :)
-
As long as the clock and blind structure are decant, the different starting stacks should really not be much of a problem to be honest. well as long as they avoid the two biggest stacks for the first few levels. Gud luck all.
-
Good luck to you all
+1 Would be great to see an APATer win it but to make final table with those chip stacks would be top effort
-
Best of luck to all APAT members in the Champion of Champions event, particularly our National Champions.

Not going to be able to make it, unless the casino will let me bring the dogs into the card room. ;D

Mr Pitchford,
I see you looking at the thread. Any updates ?
;)
-
Glenn Wisbey?
The very same. OK, he may not be a particularly active member but a winner he certainly is.
GL to all APATers - any updates available?
-
Players are on a dinner break.
There are 102 remaining with average stack at 8,600. (What that means with all the different starting stacks, I don"t know, but starting average was probably around 6-7k)

Our friends over at A World Of Poker are doing live updates from Luton, so please feel free to follow the link:-

OUT. Sat around starting stack until table broken halfway through level 2. First hand on new table managed to get all in with middle set against top set. Back home by 5pm :(
Interesting concept with the prize pool - there was a vote with three choices - payout to top 12, 30, or 63. Top63 won the vote..... and with only 120 runners that meant half the field gets paid. Add to that the fact that around 20 didn"t turn up and could not claim any prize, despite their chips being in play and blinded away...... 63 out of 100 runners get paid! (and I still missed - lol)

Unlucky Steve - genuinely tough spot to avoid getting canned. What a strange allocation of the prize pool, but I love the fact that the players were consulted.
-
UL steve. Apparantly Set over set happens about 4 times a year if you are playing full time. Anyway it is a strange way of cashing. did every person get to vote on this? With quite a few big names in there, id bet they were dissapointed with the ammount of people getting paid.
-
there were 81 players sat down at 2pm and eligible to vote. 12 voted for option 1 (top 12), 30 for option 2 (top 30), and 39 voted for option 3 (top 63).
I figured that as the field was so tough, voting for Top63 was the only real +EV option.
-
unlucky Steve
Bet Karl Mahrenholz with 25,000 was happy with that prize pool vote!
-
Mr Pitchford,
I see you looking at the thread. Any updates ?
;)
I think there"s three of us out but I actually only know Steve out of the players I"ve seen. Sorry. I"m out. Got short staked and got my QQ all in vs up and down straight draw. He makes it on the turn and I have no redraw. :(
Thanks for the opportunity APAT. And good luck to the players who remain.
Edit: The APAT"er I had lunch with had 12.5k at the break but I"m rubbish with names. How rude! :)
Paul.

I thought this myself but then I checked the payout structure of all three options and I would"ve personally voted for top 63 after seeing it. The only major difference is for the players who finish 1st, 2nd & 3rd are £5k down but the other payouts aren"t too different so (provided I wasn"t one of the 25k chip leaders) I would"ve voted top 63 too.
-
scouse has just doubbled up.....qq vs 88. looks like allin pre.
yeah 1st cardout queen woop woop he on 17k
-
Simon Moorman - Manchester GUKPT champion (just busted Simon Oakland (KK) with AK).

The 17 that didn"t turn up have made the money and get £250 each.
??? ??? ???
-
The 17 that didn"t turn up have made the money and get £250 each.
??? ??? ???
anyone who didn"t show up will not get paid - the payouts will be moved down the field.... so 80th will be paid.
-
Well that makes a bit more sense
-
I am sure Simon Oakland was Simon Auckland because Simon Moorman was on the same table

Also like the coverage on nuts TV when someone asked for a chip count on scouse.
Commentator says "chip count for Scouse, who"s Scouse?"

Good luck to Chris.
-
from the GUKPT blog -
"These four have adopted a very serious demeanour. Mind you, I haven't seen Darren Annis smile once since Thanet.
The one major confrontation has been preflop with Colin flat calling from the button and Darren raising it up only for Colin to dwell for a minute and move all-in. Darren got out of the way.
Chris Brammer is commanding the most respect. He is current chip leader on 340k. Nobody wishes to tangle with him."
-
ummmmmmmm just looked back at the blog for latest update and saw the following... "Steve makes the initial raise to 15 and re-raised by Chris to 45k. Darren moves in for 125k and Chris "I have to call". Chris with Q9 but up against QQ's of Darren."
Then looked at the live stream and Mr Brammer isn"t there any more.
Oops. nice run though Chris.
-
further update:
It's all gone pear-shaped for Chris. He's left with 70k after doubling up Colin Wu.
On a flop of QT7 and Chris bets 30k and Colin calls. Chris bets 50k as the 6 falls on the turn and Colin moves in. Chris is ahead with KQ and Colin with 9T second pair and a gutshot. The river brings an EIGHT and a straight for Colin.
Then Colin does for Chris for the final time when the latter calls all-in from the BB with QT and in seemingly good shape against Colin's Q3, until:
First card out is a THREE then 5 then TEN, BUT
the turn is another THREE and the river blanks, sending Chris off home £7,500 richer.
-
v v ul Chris wp btw
