Please note the news about telephone reservations prior to the day itself
-
Hmm not sure how aware the casinos are that you can reserve your seat this week. I was in Plymouth yesterday and the card room bloke didn"t seem to know anything about it.
I can imagine it will be another self dealt tournie with buy-ins only accepted on the day.
Anyone know the earliest you can buy-in?
-
Brighton opens at 2pm so it"s going to be difficult to pay for it by 1.30 :)
-
A communique went out to all the hosting Grosvenors yesterday with all this info on, from Head Office
Accepting there are likely to be communication teething problems, or some time before the news filters through to the cash desks, this is why I say when you ring up to reserve, double check at your venue when the deadline for paying for a reserved seat is, on the day itself
-
I"ve just tried calling Edinburgh and Newcastle - the two casinos I assume I will be asked to oversee - for info on pre-registration for this weekend.
Grosvenor Newcastle - I was advised to call back at 6:30/7pm
Gala Edinburgh - I was asked to call back around 6pm.
I"ll keep you all posted ...
-
Ditto Walsall. The girl who answered the phone told me I couldn"t register over the phone, but to do it online at BlueSQ (not a bad guess from her!). She said best to phone later when the card-room supervisor is in.
Which is what I"ll do!
-
Neither the phone answerer nor the cash desk at Luton know anything about it yet.
-
Manchester in the dark also........did say she"d call back though.......hope so.....she sounded really fit!! ;D
-
Brighton have suggested calling back at 7 when the card room opens.
-
Manchester in the dark also........did say she"d call back though.......hope so.....she sounded really fit!! ;D
just got off the phone with the lovely Coleen -- Manchester are taking registration as of 10 mins a go.......................

Yep. Just registered. She even said it was the APAT tourney and I needed to pay by 1.30
Didn"t get a name, not sure how fit she sounded though.....digger....did you ring up the massage parlour next door by any chance?
-
She called me back as promised.....registered! Hope she looks as good as she sounds :o
Nice one APAT.....how good is that! Just have to qualify now :-\

Just spoken to Colleen " She is well fit in it"
Oh yeah and I registered, which is a good do, as I don"t have to be there before the doors open.
Steve if you see this make sure you and your pals do the same thing
-
Just spoke to the Vic card room - telephone reservations are not allowed but you can register in person. This is a b****r as I am not in London until Saturday.
-
Tried ringing Plymouth. Told that card room manager was on holiday and no one knew anything about APAT let alone the fact that they are running the tournament on Saturday. No one else was available, but a card room supervisor is due to call me back at 7.00pm this evening.
I"ll keep you posted.
-
WuseOwl i registered with the vic cardroom 2 hours ago... we probably spoke a dif person... try again later i guess
-
Just rang up Blackpool, the lady at the desk didn"t have much of a clue but got put through to Tom card room manager and managed to reserve my seat for saturday.
-

Funny, I spoke to the Vic cardroom (Ext 2556) at 12:01 and pre-registered with no problem.
I specified that I wanted to do so for the APAT Tourney on Saturday and was advised that I would have to pay before 1.30.
Give it another go.

Just called back at 4pm as advised. Spoke to someone else who was reluctant to put me through. He told me it wasn"t an APAT event, but I convinced him the £20 freezeout at 3.30 on Saturday is an APAT event so he said he"d try and put me through to the card room.
They"re just starting a comp, so couldn"t come to the phone. Told to call back in an hour...
It"s all fun!
-
can any1 give me a number to manchester casinos please
iam not sure i can register by phone coz my english could be not good to do this maybe any1 can to that for me??

Just registered at Walsall.
Was told the tournament starts @ 3:30, and the casino opens @ 3 o"clock. Payment has to be made before 3:15....
That could be interesting.
-
Treied to ring Luton a second time this afternoon - was told by the cashroom that they weren"t taking reservations, only names and phone numbers and someone would call back as soon as possible.
Still not heard back.
-
Grosvenor Newcastle - Registration now open!
Gala Edinburgh - 19:15 : Cardroom Manager is reluctant to allow pre-registration without payment. I"ve been speaking to Ronnie who is now re-approaching Cardroom Manager with the complications involved in players having to travel from all over Scotland to register and pay.
I await a response. Can you help me out here at all Des? Is there anything else I should be saying? Do you have a copy of the material and requests you sent the participating Casinos?
-
I"ve spoken with the Casino just now also Neil, they are going to phone their general regional manager to confirm whether we can pre-register without paying til saturday and over the phone, I await their call.
-
Hi
First time post :)
I am travelling from Amsterdam to play in the Scottish regional tourney and did plan on going down early on the day to put my name down but now I see that may not be necessary. I contacted the Gala Casino only to be told that the cardroom manager would not be in till Wednesday and to try back then. As I have already booked my flight over I will be pretty disappointed if 80 people manage to phone up before me and pre-register but I suppose that cant be helped. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can make sure I can get a seat? I have no idea how busy it will be.
I would just like to add how impressed I am by everything I"ve read on this site and I look forward to experiencing the event on Saturday, either as player or spectator.
-

I have even hit them with the "but everyone else is doing it" :"( patter! That"s what"s got Ronnie to go back to Ally with it. I explained that if he was willing to trial it this time, I said that IMO the majority of folk who were keen enough to pre-reg WOULD be there on Saturday!
-
Neil, if they don"t respond I will drive up there 2nite to see if I can get them to fix it to pre-register im only 5 mins away.
-
Philippos/Paulie
Thanks for the info about the Vic. Tried again this evening and got the right result this time. 8 now pre-registered there.
Look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Grosvenor, Manchester
Just spoke to Paul who was going out of his way to be as helpful as possible.
Here is the summary:
I registered and was told I was the 30th to do so.
This has not however secured a seat ??? as it will be on a first come first served basis on the day. "but at least your name is on the list" ??? ???
They open at 12 and will be taking registrations from then, or whenever there is a card room manager available. ???
2 dealers will be available for the final table only. ???
Paul took my name and mobile number and is calling me tomorrow once he has spoken to the card room manager. I will post again with hopefully a clearer indication as to what is going on.
-
Luton
Sorting it out now to take pre-reg"s from tomorrow I am assured
any problems pls let me know and I will play bad cop!!
Good cop was the first try.........
-
Thanks TightEnd, I will post on here tomorrow once I have spoken to the card room.

I phoned Brighton about 8 last night, spoke to the cardroom - and they said that they definitely couldn"t take reservations for the Saturday APAT tournament and you could only buy in today.
I"ll try again tonight and see if the updated news has filtered through yet.
-
Any news on Luton??
Are they taking phone registrations now? (I could call them myself but I"m far too lazy for that! ;) )
-
should be, when I spoke to them last night that was the intention
-
Re Manchester
Sir Percy posted that only the final table will be dealer dealt, is this going to be the case? For the first tourney lack of dealers was okay, teething problems etc, but I would have hoped that for the next regional, dealers should be sorted. Particularly as the next National event is there, after all a level of confidence in the venue needs to be reached.
Also I registered yesterday and was told that I was in and so long as I turned up and paid before 1.30pm I was in! Clarification required I think?
-
read the start of this thread.
dealers only on last 2 tables. self dealt otherwise. This is due to staffing problems at the casinos
-
Sadly not every event will be entirely dealer dealt, it depends on the staffing situation in each of the casinos. This is outside APAT's control but we have of course made continued representations that all venues should provide dealers if at all possible, and received assurances that final two tables will be dealer dealt everywhere.
As to the reservation, it is as you say..the seat is reserved and you need to be there to pay for it before 1.30pm or else it will be released
-
Re: Dealers
As I understand the first leg at Luton was all dealer dealt (can someone confirm this?), will there now not be dealers at this venue?
For a £20 tournament I would consider dealers as a bonus, but it would be good to know what to expect beforehand (so I can practise my abysmal shuffling if necessary!)
Cheers
-
Luton does not have a staffing problem (comparatively)
What this guarantees, don"t know. Practice the shuffles!!
-
Seems things are still not filtering through.
Just phoned Luton and was told I couldn"t reserve a seat over the phone and that I had to go in to book a place. Was polite and asked the young lady if she was sure about that. She replied that was the instructions from the cardroom manager.

Sorted.
Reserve now
(Its like speaking to the Politburo in 1980s USSR, but I think we"ve done it!)
-
What about the idea of adding juice to these tournaments to enable dealers to be used throughout?
I"d pay an additional £5 on top of the £20 if it was 100% dealer dealt.
-
you could add what you like, they don"t physically have the staff in a lot of the estate
-
Thanks Richard, all sorted seat booked.
Luton was fully dealer dealt last time, but if the casinos know they can get away with just supplying dealers for the final two tables then surely thats all they will do to save on the wage bill.
-
you could add what you like, they don"t physically have the staff in a lot of the estate
What Boddddddddddddddders said. Luton has the dealers, the juice might ensure they are supplied. Of course, they might be supplied anyway, but if the casinos can "get away" with not providing them I"m sure that"s what they"ll do.
-
I would happily pay an Extra fiver or so for a full dealer tourney, but as some one stated, if the casinos don"t have the staff then they don"t have the staff.
-
What about the idea of adding juice to these tournaments to enable dealers to be used throughout?
I"d pay an additional £5 on top of the £20 if it was 100% dealer dealt.
25% juice :o have you been drinking?
But no I never expected the Regional tournaments to be fully dealer dealt from as soon as I read that they were. :(
-
I"m ditching Walsall for Brighton, by the last turnout don"t think i"ll need to phone in advance.
-
I"m ditching Walsall for Brighton, by the last turnout don"t think i"ll need to phone in advance.
Won"t make any difference, when I phoned yesterday they said they couldn"t take any reservations.

I"d pay £5 for food and dealers, yes. I"d also get my comp drinks, a safe and friendly atmosphere in which to play poker - and it"s worth a fiver to me.
I don"t think the idea behind the regionals was to bring well-structured , one evening tournaments to the masses that have to be dealer dealt.
It"s something that Grosvenor have "inflicted" on APAT, certainly not ideal.
-
reservation made for Walsall, no problems, as soon as I asked to reserve a seat they knew what I was talking about and was put through!
;D
-
surely if there is no dealers. You don"t need to pre register.Dont tell me there"s not enough tables. If I was a casino manager i would guarantee dealers so people have to pre register therefor get people in 1 hour early to lose all there money before the tourney starts. No wonder its tough times at the casinos.
-
The reason for pre-registration is that the regionals are limited to 80 runners. It helps for those who have a long way to travel to know that they have a guaranteed seat.
-
I just registered over the phone for Luton, no problems.
Thanks again TightEnd.
-
why limit it to 80 when they dont have dealers.Surely it can be as many as needed.
-
just registered 4 places at Yarmouth with no problem
-
hi ,
just registered for edinburgh ,no probs at all even asked if i wanted to register more people ,
looking forward to putting faces to some of these posts ,neil will txt u about travel 3 of us going in scotts car so space for1 more.
see u all there
-
Re: Cardiff
I"ve just spoken to the cardroom, and they are not aware of any pre-registering for the event. That said, the cardroom manager (Sean) is not there tonight, so they suggested that i speak to him tomorrow.
-

agreed

I think it would be to do with the total amount of seats to allocate. If each regional gets full to capacity thats 8 seats per region, and with 11 regionals - thats 88 seats. Then there is the online satelites. On top of that there are seats for the clickfest..
-
Registered at Gala Edinburgh no problems at all.
I"m driving through from the south side of glasgow (busby) if anyone"s stuck for transport.

Also not all the venues have the same amount of seats and some of the venues will have their own program of games with their regulars playing. I think they have probably said 80 to make the regionals as uniform as possible at all venues.

Both of the above are correct.
-
looking like with the pre register ,could be full houses all round ,people more likley to go when they have a seat guaranteed, hope they go a big enough buffet lol ha ha confident ill still be there by that point
-
This will be quite a tester. I hope players turn up now after reserving seats.

Get your regional manager"s to obtain a copy of all pre-registered players, any that didn"t turn up - ban from click fest"s

Brighton were accepting reservations as of yesterday as well.

Just have to hope that casinos have the list of all pre-registered players first!
-

...would be worth anyone who has registered but then can"t go for some reason, giving the casino a call and letting them know...avoid some possible mayhem...

When I used to frequent the Fullhouse, as a member you were allowed to pre-register for tournys by phone. However if you failed to show, without calling first, you lost the right to do this.
Could something similar be put in place for the regionals. ie a yellow card warning if you do it once and a red card (banned from pre-registering for the next regional) if you do it again. Any thoughts
-
Great idea and I would support that 100%. But that would rely on an efficent Casino, and Casino staff, and from what I have seen up to now I am not convinced that most of them are up to implementing such a plan.
-
Yep your probably right, there does seem a lot of the left hand dosent know what the right hands doing, going on.
-

yea we can only hope that the casino"s get it right will make it so much easier in future , i suppose we will just have to wait and see worthwhile starting a post for feedback on pre register for after the weekend
-
Gala Edinburgh were well on the ball at the first regional and seem very competent.
I"m looking forward to Saturday ......
Dougie.
-
Re: Cardiff
I"ve spoken to the cardroom again tonight, and they confirm that there is NO pre-registration.
The casino opens at 2pm on Saturday, so it should prove interesting...
-
Yeah I"ve phoned them up and got the same response. As one of the regional assistant managers I"ll try and sort this out so that phone registration is possible. Will let you know how I get on.
-
Ok guys we have managed to sort out the phone pre-registration for Cardiff.
They will now take pre-registrations over the phone so long as you call them after 7pm and ask to be put through to the cardroom.
Hope this helps and hope everyone enjoys the regional on Saturday.
Any other questions just post a reply and I"ll answer.
Cheers,
David.
-
based on a average attendance and if you go the distance - how late does a regional normally go on until??
-
In October, 23 played in Newcastle and it was over by around 20:30. 53 played in Edinburgh and it finished at around 23:30.
If you"re planning a night out after it, I wouldn"t think you"ll be dancing much before midnight (unless the Casino music is to your liking or you catch a miracle card to stay in)!
-
The last one in Manchester went on until 1.15am, I crashed out 4th at 11.45pm!
There were too many breaks, and they seemed a bit lengthy, particularly when chipping up for the final two tables. But still great fun, and a good bunch of players, who actually looked like they were enjoying the game!!
-
just wondering as im playing in london. dont wana drive in to london, but at the same time looks like theres a good chance im gona miss my last train home :"(
what to do, what to do...........

I"ve got a similar problem, except that I don"t drive.
So if I go deep in the tournament in Brighton I"ll just have to wait until the first train in the morning.
Although, "...if I go deep...", so there shouldn"t be anything for me to worry about. :-\

Valid point.

Just about to register for the regional at the London Vic. Before I do, do I need to have joined APAT (with a membership number or something) or can I just be anybody ringing up to book a place?

That"s great - thanks for the info!

Any ideas as to how many have pre-registered for Newcastle?
The Newcastle - Sunderland match is being played at 12:45 so could be expecting a poor showing!
Anyone heard anything?
-
Ok confussion at an APAT event ! getting used to it now. ::)
G Vic London filling up fast, once you become a member of that casino you can park for FREE. :o
Sir Percival says that even if you pre-registered its still first come first serve ? Just to make sure I pre-registered and I am gonna get there for 12pm to make sure I get a seat and a parking space. ;)
Self deal thats a shame, but enjoyed Leg 1 told my poker buddys. 10 of us are now going, I think APAT is gonna be huge ! :o
Pre-registering ? not convinced just caused more confussion, people no where they stand you turn up early you get a seat. I can see a few people turning up late after pre-registering thinking there seat is safe. :P
Hopefully make it to the buffett this time ! lol asarge come say hello I am the fat bloke with glasses and friends lol 8)
Good luck to all ;D
SHUFFLE UP AND DEAL !!!! :D

I"ve just called Newc and it would be fair to say that there hasn"t been as good a response to pre-registering as we had expected. This is obviously due to the footy.
If you"re not bothered about the footy and live next door to the casino (no midday traffic to worm through!), this could be a great chance to get your hands on medal!!! It could also be your best chance of taking part in a majority female tourney!
So that"s the WBO, the Premier League and asarge"s five-a-side team that APAT have to consult when posting Season 3"s fixtures :)

asarge come say hello I am the fat bloke with glasses and friends lol 8)
will do matey. keep a look out for me. im the young sexy one ;D ;D
-
Yay, registered number 32 at London! Look forward to meeting and beating you all on Saturday.
-
Sir Percival says that even if you pre-registered its still first come first serve ? Just to make sure I pre-registered and I am gonna get there for 12pm to make sure I get a seat and a parking space. ;)
Surely if you pre-register your seat is safe. For intance I"ve reserved a seat at Luton, told to turn up and pay by 1.30pm. I assume if more than 80 people pre-book then they will start a reserve list and if you havent turned up and paid by 1.30pm your place will be given to a reserve?
-
yes
-
It will be interesting to see how people can pay by 1:30pm at Luton given that at the last regional we weren"t allowed through the inner doors and onto the gaming floor until 2pm.
-
Very interesting
Lets hope for some flexibility.
OK possibly not
-
Just a quick note for anyone pre-registering for Cardiff,
they are now taking pre-registrations as previously stated, but I forgot to mention that the casino opens at 2:00, pre=registered people must be there and paid for by 2:30 for a 3:00 tournament start.
Cheers guys, good luck to all who are playing in regionals this Saturday.
David.

As posted elsewhere:-
We have taken the decision to not advertise these events again due to the difficulty in tying the details down at each venue. When we can finally achieve this position, we will market them hard. The good news being, there should be loads of space at each venue on Saturday. I would still book ahead mind.
-
i"ll be driving eck, i can pick you up no problem, give me a phone later this week and we"ll get organised...(might forget to pick you up though lol)
Can you give me a call please Allan. I have changed my mobile and your number obv wasn"t on the sim card memory.
or Swordfish can you please tell him to give me a bell as you spend all day on here ;)

Still early days for the regionals Des, so that makes sense.
I"m sure everyone who played in the previous ones will be there this time, plus a lot of others who are new to APAT or missed the regionals last time round (like me).

So anyone know if the events tomorow will be dealer dealt or not? I hope the casinos will not find a cheap excuse again... it would be good to know so some people might decide not to play if the events are not dealer dealt...

They won"t be. Final two tables (?) will be dealer-dealt, but before then they will be self-dealt.

We suspect that there will be spaces available at Newcastle due to footy as per earlier post if you can"t find something closer than 3 hrs drive away ...
-
I"m in at Walsall- ready to defend my title- and I don"t mind dealing either although last time it was all dealer dealt (just 3 tables)

Yesss - my wife recently got babysitting duties sorted for tomorrow/today. We"re going to chance Walsall - about 2 hr drive away. Also got a couple of passengers who"ve never played in a APAT event before live or online so assume there ok to play under the new rules for this season, if not they will make themselves members before play.
See those going to Walsall near the smoking area at about 2.
Cheers :)
-
Good Luck to all of the players attending todays regional qualifiers.

Hello all,
The missus and I are looking forward to another enjoyable tournament at Plymouth. We were there last night and managed to pay and register and will be there ready to fold our way to the final table :D
RE: the dealing situation, there is no way on earth that the final two tables will be dealer dealt at Plymouth. The final table will be but until then it will be self dealt.
Cheers :)
