If you want an opinion, I"m folding aces there. (Although, I"d need to know stack sizes, for definite)
Very unlucky though.
Fullhouse beats fullhouse beats a set beats pocket aces. And I thought I was running bad at the moment. ;D

crap shuffle I reckon.

50p Tony

What stack sizes would make you fold an ace and another ace pre Leigh?
Or do you just have sick levelling skillz on teh APAT forum?

If I"ve got them all covered, then I"m probably going to call. If I"m shortstacked, then I"m probably going to call.
If all the stack sizes are fairly equal, and near enough average, then there are better spots than calling with aces against three opponents.
At least, in my head thats the case. ;D

Out of curiosity, what"s the odds of winning preflop with the aces ? I thought it was about 50% when against three other hands ? I may be totally wrong.

so you are saying you wouldn"t enter into a flip in this spot? What about if you had QQ and knew the other guy had AK - 50% flip for a double up.... most would probably take that in a standard online tourney that soon becomes a shovefest...... so why not take a 50% flip when you have a chance to quadruple up???
In an $11 2500chip 13min blind online tourney - never ever ever ever ever ever ever folding AA preflop.

Fullhouse beats fullhouse beats a set beats pocket aces.
An outrageous misrepresentation of the facts. Tony had two pair.
-
I"ll go back to the admin stuff and leave these strategy threads to the experts. ;D
Oh, and if it was a level, I"d have said something along the lines of :-
"Gutted Tony, I bet that made you want to throw your APAT Stud bronze medal out of the nearest window......."
;D

Without using a stove or odds calculator, I heard that aces in a 3 way pot, pre flop is about 50% to win
once it goes 4 handed then your down to around 40%
but it you think that"s bad then check this thread I posted a year ago

slight adjustment due to not knowing suits exactly but
:as: ac 57.40%
ah js 4.73%
7d 7c 17.96%
kh kd 18.78%
so an easy fold eh mr wiltshire lol and yes if i had my bronze and gold medal i would have thrown them down someones throat all below ave stack apart frm kk who went on to finish 5th i believe so at least he used the chips well :"(

I"m calling then.
Very unlucky Tony.

AJ had trips. Not a set, massive difference. Sorry to nit pick. dont think he could fold aces here imo. Unless its like in final table sat with several seats up for grabs for instance.

Point is, im not tight enough to fold aces before the flop.

lol nice rubdown by ChipAccrual re folding aces pre

Not often I post hands on here, but what are the chances of this happening?!
Up to around 8k on Sunday in the league match. Going quite well and feeling quite confident.
I get dealt AA (only hand I play), Middle stack (6K )gets dealt AK and the villain with the short stack (3.5k). All the chips go in preflop. Villain who is on my right hand side hits trip queens on the turn. I lose and pick up the side pot.
The very next hand, I get 10s. The villain then raises. I shove for my remaining 5k. He calls and shows pocket 9"s. Obviously 9 is the first card out and the rest is history!
I can take an overpair losing all day long. But to lose two overpairs to underpairs two hands in a row, to the same person really just takes the biscuit!
And then to top it off, Palace couldnt sneak that vital win last night. Going to be a nerve wracking day up in Sheffield!

lol dont see ur point mr will but hey ho
think he is pointing out the difference between a set and trips. AJ made trips, Kings and 7s made sets.
Just a technicality but you need a pocket pair to make a set

There is a passage in "Poker Winners are Different" by Alan N. Schoonmaker, PH.D. about AA pre-flop. Theoretically, you want as many opponents to call pre-flop your all-in, as this gives you the best long-term results. While your equity within the pot is significantly smaller against four opponents than one, the amount you stand to win on average against the four will be significantly more.
However, there are those super-special cases. Like when players consider folding the nuts, because if a player is knocked out a table is broken and they face tougher competition, whereas keeping the soft table together is likely to give him more than what he wins there and then.
