"I went to vote at 6pm - there was a queue"
"I went back after 9pm and the queue was so long I didn"t get to vote before they closed at 10pm"
Good game you muppet

lol where"s that come from?
-
Sky news interview of a disgruntled voter.
FFS the polling stations were open for 15 hours
-
lol - that"s arguable but
The BBC in Merseyside has been taking calls from people saying they couldn"t vote because polling stations had run out of ballot papers. Stations affected were Taggert Avenue and Dovedale Road in Wavertree, Dunbabin Road and Rudstone School in Childwall, and Ambergate Road in Grassendale.
now that definitely needs an investigation by the electoral comission
-
Thats fair enough - that is a disgrace -- but FFS not leaving enough time is criminal on your part.
latest news
Sheffield protestors are blocking the ballot box from leaving until they vote.
Ok let them vote and then arrest them for breaking the law
-
allegedly 600 voters turned away from Chester ballot boxes because electoral lists haven"t been updated
-
I think if I went to vote at 9pm I would not expect to queue for more than an hour. I would be pretty pissed off if I was turned away at 10pm and if someone suggested it was my fault for not getting there earlier I would smack him ;) particularly if he called me a muppet! ;D
Why in the 21st century we can"t make better use of technology is beyond me.

Not unreasonable
But the funniest interview I saw was with a student, she said that she went to vote for the first time, she queued for half an hour, then she was told that the doors were closed and she couldn"t vote.
She was shocked, really shocked that she"d missed out.

OK I can fold sometimes -- I made the first post with limited info. But it now seems that some of the polling stations were understaffed and in reality under intelligenced (is that a word). It was bad

imagine the carfuffle we"d make if it happened in a 3rd world country
they"d be un sanctions, crys of ill play and everything...fraud, biaisness, illegal documents... ::)

It was pretty piss poor at our polling station. The problem was the lack of booths (there were only 2). The queue was a direct result of this with polling station staff not issuing ballot papers until a booth was free. It didn"t help that there was also a council election at the same time that we were all made to vote in as well.
It didn"t surprise me that Manchester Withington was one of the constituencies that reported 100s turned away.
As for the argument about people having all day to vote, I think it reflects modern society where people probably couldn"t get out until late. Still, if it says 10pm, you would still reasonably expect to turn up at 9.55 and still be allowed to vote (even if it is taking the piss a bit). I"d love to see what "international observers" would have thought if this had been the Afghan elections...
Well, we will probably be going to the polls again in November. That gives them a few months to sort this out!!

The uk is not alone , our friends across the pond have had problems in recent elections .. Bush v Gore in 2000 was a doozy.

Funniest thing was on 5 live last night when the International Observer from Malawi was giving our voting practices a roasting !!! :D
