Shove, you have a set ;)
(Will read your OP now..)

Why the check on the turn?
-
hero planned to check raise, he wanted opinions on how he played pre and post, he had pm"d me on another forum with this and i had to lol tbh , he posted it on numerous forums and he got more feedback then i thought he would lol maybe cos it was ape i guess...
-
Dislike the check on the turn, and now as played I sigh fold on the river.
-
I dnt like to fold river when:
-we check the turn
-the obvious scare card comes
Raising obv has no benefits.
Seems like a pretty trivial call.
Edit: - I prob fold pre oop against a tough villain most of the time.

fold river dan? safe i guess , like u marty i questioned after the line he took why didn"t he at least plan to cc river , i didn"t like his block bet on the river, it sets up a bluff and obv value reraises and gives hero tough decisions imho..
Would any1 consider turning heroes hand into a bluff on the river?
-
No value in raising it as a bluff when villains range is so polarised! I actually quite like the blocker bet to induce against aggro villains in this spot, but blocker-bet/folding rivers is generally a recipe for disaster.
ps - first hand we have ever agreed on!
-
lol i know u wouldn"t agree to folding pre-flop, he [hero] didn"t when i pm"d him back lol lol
-
I def agree w/ folding pre oop against a good villain...
-
I would agree with the call Pre, you have a decent stack and you can afford to set mine. Having hit and being bet into on the flop, then IMO not betting the turn is a huge mistake, with various draws out there surely you must make him pay to make them.
With the huge scare card on the river, and the re raise, then it is a head in hands fold.

wowser , is this mARTY ?????

With the huge scare card on the river, and the re raise, then it is a head in hands fold.
Surely the fact it is a "huge scare card" means we have to call?
Also, i call against weak villains, but its very hard for this hand to be long-term profitable oop vs a good villain!
-
i dont think given the odds it"d be a profitable call marty against ape

Especially when we check the turn.

Check raise the floo but hero probably had plans to do it on turn
I"d probably spewy check call the river
-
PHEW.
Just battled my way through 2+2 thread !!!!
Interesting to read villians views on hand too (about page 9 !!)
IMO Hero made a complete xxx from start to finish.
Fold pre/bet turn. As played I would struggle to fold river.
-
fold pre
quite like leading flop
Call river.
Check turn is fine.
-
I"d fold or raise preflop - given this guy is a very good online player (have his books which are awesome) I"d lean to a fold preflop.
As played I would also bet into him on the flop - in his book he talks of leading into the raiser with the nuts/near nuts being a sophisticated play which, in his opinion, few players are capable of - so I"d do it to him!
As played, check calling flop is ok, but I"m almost always leading the turn here and would be happy to get it in with one card to come.
As played, its a tough call and would be very read dependent at that time.
-
not folding here but probably take a different line post, probably lead the at the pot on the flop and keep firing
