Half term, say no more!

I don"t think that will help increase the numbers Mike, you"ve got to be over 18 to join DTD and need photo id and stuff.

Could always give it a go, get yourself a poker stable, train them in the art of Mikeyboy poker, see what happens.   ;D

Although I think there"ll be a hefty overlay for this, are people going to travel a distance for a £50 comp (no matter how good the structure)?

So the next question is how many players who are in the catchment area of DTD will want to play a 2-dayer (or three for those playing the Friday) with the incumbent hotel costs, etc.?

I"ll definitely be playing it, and I"m sure a whole load of APATers who live within an hour or so of Nottingham will also be up for this one.  How many will be travelling from further afield?  Will be interesting to see...

I see your point.  I was thinking of travelling up from the South Coast on the Friday, to support the day that will be toughest to fill, because that"s the type of guy that I am.

I hadn"t thought about the incumbent hotel costs, etc.   If only I knew someone who lived local, that may be able to put me up for a few nights.

Do we know if DTD will have any other tourneys on over that weekend in the evenings ?  If I knew I would get a decent game on the Saturday night aswell, then it"s even more worth it, and I can travel back on the Sunday, and get home in time to find out who won.

ill defently play. Although i have a bunch of friends who would want to play also. Seems a bit strange that payment is only via online, some of my mates are dinasours and couldnt be bothered opening up a dtd online account, to play live.

Does anyone actually think they will turn people away, who have turned up on the day with the money?

yes! they"ve prescribed the ruling that registration can be online only.... why would they do that if they then plan to open it up on the day?

Quote for Rob Yong.

Quote

We have made the tournament Online Buy-in Only, directly through Dusk Till Dawn's Online Poker Room, as most of our club members already have online accounts with us.  Buying in is very straightforward, and this process means we can be better prepared for the event itself, in terms of staffing levels and player registrations.  We couldn't cope with a queue of 800 people at our cash desk.  Our online poker room has recently migrated to a new improved banking wallet, so I am also hoping this event will help to get our players familiar with it.

I may be wrong, but I"d be amazed if you couldn"t buyin on the day at DTD.  They won"t announce this, and I emphasise that this is purely my opinion, but if they have a guarantee in place, then it would be very bad business to not take late registrations on the day.

Don"t rely upon this though, as they may just stick to their guns.

I read somewhere (probs on Blonde) that the Guarantee is being underwritten by the online Poker side - payouts will be via that route too, so I suspect that just turning up with cash won"t work.

Guess DTD can rethink their record breaking target for this event, seen as this years London EPT just made 848ish runners.
Still should be great tourney tho

Had a pleasant tootle up to Nottingham. Played 3 or 4 hands. Back in time for Tigers v Gloucester and X-Factor. Does life get any better than that?!

Blinds 50/100. After the best part of 2 levels, I"ve played my customary 2 or 3 hands.

EP (similar number of hands played as me) limps from a 8.5K stack. Folds to me in CO and I have KK. I raise to 350 leaving just over 9K.

Folds back to EP who makes it 2.4K

I"m thinking it looks like AK. Perhaps a medium pair 77 to 10s. Possibly AA.

I think about pushing but having lost to AA with KK aipf last week at the Luton APAT and wanting to get maximum value with my big hands, I opt just to call.

The flop is K 10 5 rainbow. Happy days.

EP checks. I check. D"oh!

The turn brings the 6. EP checks again. I decide to bet about 2.5K. EP calls. Now I"m thinking he"s hit his set of 10s. Could still be AK or AA but less likely perhaps.

The river is the safe-ish looking 9. There"s no flush and only 2 hands are beating me ::)  EP checks again and I shove my remaining chips in. EP calls (did I imagine the hint of sheepishness in his demeanour?) and turns over the beautifully played 78os. The table is silent bar for the sound of jaws hitting the floor.

I hang on for a bit with my 800 chips but finally go when my Q8 fails to improve against K4.

Who needs my 50p?
