If you are new to poker or this is your first time in a casino, and you are not sure of the rules or protocols, the APAT team will run a short induction in the casino on the Saturday at approximately 13.30.
The induction will be designed for beginners and will cover items such as;
String Betting,
Raising & Calling,
Betting Procedures,
The Structure.
If there is anything in particular you are worried about and would like to run through on the day PM myself or Kinboshi, or alternatively post it here.
So if this will be your first time do not worry. See you there.

Poker lessons from Kinboshi -- hmmmmmm I"ll be there
-
Ha-ha,,, Not lessons..
Part of the ethos of the APAT is to get amateur players into casino"s (possibly for the first time) and playing poker in an atmosphere which can be daunting. A lot of them will of heard you can"t do this, you should be doing that, and this is just to help the true beginners.
I cannot give lessons in poker, but I can give pointers on string betting, announcing raise. One thing I see on many occasions is players putting a 1000 chip in when they want to raise but they don"t announce it, and it is then taken as a call.
It is just to put their mind at ease.

You might think so..but I recall in Newcastle last year the Casino (or APAT, I can"t remember) offered the same thing for "Live" play newbies.
I noted that at least 3 of these deep in the tourney and, IIRC, one made the final table. Of course, s/he was the one I saw sitting at the table during the "practice" play doing an excellent chip riffle!

Anyone can attend- it"s in the casino.

My mate who is also a member of the apat was like this. When we first went to a casino a few years ago, we sat down and he could do loads of chip tricks. I think the regulars never believed it was his first time.
He had played poker online for about a year before the first trip to a casino and as he was sitting playing he was always practising chip tricks, and consequently was pretty good at them.

Are you boys going on a "can you teach my gran to suck eggs" course before you induct the newbies? ;D

I know its all in jest, but we are volunteers who have put ourselves out there to help the players who have never played in a casino before, and there will be a few.
This will allow them to enjoy the day a bit more and not worry about things.

I"m just going to check out any norkage... ;D
