I"m booking "room only" for meself too.  Don"t do early mornings after a manic night out and there"s usually an unnatural expectation to be in the dining room at some rude hour well before 11am.  This way we can have lunch pints for around the same price without the pressure of time forcing our hand.

It"s official folks.  Sunday is sorted.  BBQ & Pub quiz (in a real live pub too) from 1pm.  We"re not going to Tennessee for it, but I reckon Knocknagree will do just fine.

OP has been amended, but to save ya going back to find out what"s ahead...

Martin"s Bar in Knocknagree at 1pm on Sunday will be the venue for the Pub Quiz and BBQ.  Weather permitting he has a patio out the back.  If it"s pissing rain, he has a sheltered area for me to do the cooking while ye laugh at me from the comfort of yer seats in the pub.  Win win all around and ye couldn"t ask for more.

Oh wait...yes ye could.  And yes I will.  My NY Cheesecake will be attending too.

In the evening we"ll head back to Killarney.

Decided I"d rather not risk the M25 traffic in the morning so I found a Premier Inn Room (M1, J9) for a mere £29 on Thursday evening.

Only a couple of miles from the Airport parking (which I was going to have to do anyway) for another £20+

Boom....I can start killing the liver on Thursday night in the Harvester next door.

Technically you do not need a passport to travel from the UK to Ireland - however as is their want Ryanair make up their own rules.

I had a feeling this was the case (but wasn"t sure)...but if I"m flying over water to another country, it"s abroad as far as I"m concerned.

*and I"d hate to argue this with passport/border control even though I"m right...you never know what those muppets will do.

From the FCO

Quote

Ireland, along with the UK, is a member of the Common Travel Area. This means that British Citizens do not require a passport to visit Ireland. However, Irish immigration officers will check the IDs of all passengers arriving by air from the UK and most airlines will not carry passengers to and from Ireland unless they have seen satisfactory photographic ID before boarding. Travellers to Ireland are therefore advised to take their British passports with them.

Ryanair website doesnt allow for using drivers licence as ID, but I have used mine successfully as ID at the gate. But! you just never know what stunt Ryanair staff are likely to pull at any given time or place.

The UK Photo DL is not an EEU approved National Identity Card...but it"s possible the Ryanair people don"t know that.

Handy for Vegas though...as they think it"s equivalent to their DLs which, of course, it ain"t*.

*The UK"s official DL is STILL the paper thingy which you should produce to the blue-lighters on request (or get a "7 day wonder")

Was talking to Selina earlier today and was told she has exams and Maylis has work.

Claire just needs to bink the lotto and she"s back in.  Pity, because she already has a flight booked for it.

On the good news front, think I"ve stumbled on the ideal solution for our boat trip.  Has an indoor glass house thingy as well as an outdoor deck.  No rowing required...and our guide has a tale for every inch of the lake as we"re going.  My neighbour reckons the banter will be good between us and yer man so I"m delighted.   :)

Just when ye thought it was safe.

The Quiz Master for Sunday has been selected.

She"s 14, her name is Sarah and she"s opted for a Reverse Sheep Quiz

...with a twist.    ;D

You can google all ya like, but the top answers for each question have come from HER brain and google has no bearing on the results at reveal time.

Sarah has submitted her answers.  I"ll have them on hand for reveal day Sunday - and she will be there to run the reveal and answers any objections.

You have until midnight on Wednesday, May 18th to PM your answers and are allowed one pass

The Questions

1  Name something teenagers do on a rainy day.

2  Top 10 pets for teenagers - as determined by Sarah

3  Favourite websites for teenagers

4  Name a favourite achievement of Sarah"s

5  Favourite TV shows for teeanagers

As it happens, Rich wasn"t the only one...so to clear things up........

There seems to be a bit of confusion by a few who are new to RSQ.  (Shocking, but true.)

You DO NOT have to give me 10 answers when the question mentions Top 10!!!   Ya only need to pick what you believe to be ONE of those ten.

So far I"ve quiz answers in from:

the duke
technolog
curlage
Mrs. Boldie

Right so...carry on the rest of ya and get yer answers in...now that ya realise it"s not as painful as it looks.   :D

Hi Dawn

A bit of bad news I"m afraid, I am going to have to withdraw from next weeks trip.

My daughter Georgia, the gymnast, has qualified for the British Championships in Stoke next Sunday and try as I might, my heartstrings say I need to be there. Originally she wasn"t going to compete so soon after Bulgaria, but the national coaches want them there and she is happy to go.

I"ve called the Evison Hotel and they are fine and I"ll just have to swallow the flight.

I know you"ll all have a great time and I will miss the craic, but needs must.

See you soon.

Seems my hip flask will be rejected by airport security as it will present a fire hazard (being never empty)....therefore I shall have to rely on you.

FWIW...When sober enough I shall tweet (http://twitter.com/#!/Paulie_D59) our progress using the hash tag #celticchaos...there may also be facebook (https://www.facebook.com/PaulieD59) updates.

However, blogging updates will happen (what little I will be able to recall) after the event...probably middle of next week (work dependant)

Brownies frosted.  Cheesecake topped.  Only one wee drinks thing found, but I haz plan (there"s a shocker)...so no worries.

Technolog made it safe and sound to Duke"s.  Paulie has gone MIA but is surely somewhere near Luton airport by now.  Boldie & Mrs. B drove from Scotland to a Manchester Airport hotel late last night.  And despite all attempts to lie in...I was wide awake at 6:30 this morning.  Excited much?!

While that lot are making their way through airports and crowds, I will mostly spend the morning chilling.  Hurry up noon ffs!!!
