I"m 99% sure but Tighty hasn"t officially confirmed it to me as yet

As we saw in S4 these things can change, often at the last minute....when I hear for sure, I"ll update where appropriate.

In case of doubt, make a refundable booking...you can always cancel and rebook later.

I was just going to ask that question.  The casino is just a bit further out from the city centre or the bay, so there isn"t an obvious hotel to stay at.

Depends on your requirements....my choice will be the Holiday Inn because I get points and I know what I"m getting.

Perhaps a few quid more...but them"s the breaks.

Well, I would have joined you all in Cardiff, but unfortunately I"ve just sat"d into the LPC SuperStack in London that weekend.

$1.10+0.10 re-buy ($3.40 invested) >> $10 + 0.50 Sat tonight >> $265 Seat Thankyou very much.

I have to say the satellites on 888poker have been a little goldmine over the last couple of weeks... thanks APAT, for the introduction.

Driving over the Severn bridge and paying the toll rather than attempting to walk across Don?

probably for the best....

Nope at least I don"t think so...it"s on an old "green field" site....if you can find it on Google Maps...it shows nothing there...new industrial/retail site I would guess.

Churchills Hotel (Llandaf Place) is one of the closest and comes in at about £40 a single, other than that anywhere on Cathedral Road is convenient. Loads of small hotels and guest houses such as Courtfield Hotel - £30 single - or Penrhys Hotel, Preste Gaarden Hotel, The Regan Hotel, Beverley Hotel - if you"re lucky you should be able to find something from about £25 single in that area.

I think it unlikely that there will be spare seats available on-site and the current plans are for satellites and direct buy-in via 888 at the moment.

Depends on your definition of reasonable.

The HI is sold out but the others mentioned in the Travel Tips thread still had availability when I last checked a few days ago.

Bank Holiday rates are higher than normal - and special offers are harder to come by, having said that it"s nowhere near as expensive as when a special event clashes with an APAT tournament.

Avoiding other tournaments, big events AND Bank Holidays is going to be pretty much impossible - so of the 3 I think Bank Holidays are probably the best compromise.

What he said..although the rates I found weren"t THAT much higher than I would expect to see...£65+ is pretty standard for a hotel room on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday night these days.

Oh, there are deals out there, particularly with Travelodge &/or Premier Inn...but you do have to strike while the iron is hot AND commit early, usually before you can guarantee getting a seat.

Heard nothing from HI so I fired off a quick email.

I am booked into the Tanes Hotel Guest Room for Friday and Saturday night. Seemed to have decent enough reviews and for a total of £76.94, looks a good deal to me. It is on the other side of Cardiff but only a 12min journey according to Google maps.

As I am driving up, I can offer lifts to or from the casino for anybody that wants one. I guess i will be on a similar route to other peoples hotels so little point in wasting money on taxis.
