Now, I"m sure that we all have our own ideas of things we might like to do as individuals while we"re out in Vegas but I"ve been putting some skullsweat into a few ideas for things that might serve as an activity that could be done in groups, perhaps as the first night"s gathering, a evening"s entertainment during the week, a lunchtime/daytime visit or just some fun times around restaurant table.
I can"t do tables as well as Leigh so I"ll just give each one a heading, a short description (probably cribbed from their website) and a perhaps a link.
Feel free to pile on with suggestions if you"ve been there before or, if not, ask questions about the things that get posted.
I"ll start with a couple of suggestions for the first night the group really comes together...these are all at Harrahs so you won"t have too far to stagger to your room (if that"s where you staying).
Harrahs - Duelling Pianos
When:
9pm - 2am, Tue-Sat
What:
Just when you thought everything in Las Vegas costs a fortune, then you have not seen The Dueling Pianos Show at Harrah's Casino. Imagine a gorgeous young female accomplished piano player who is also a stand up comedian and one of the best audience participation entertainer. . . now multiply that by "2" because you are about to see the only all-female and identical twin dueling piano show in the world!
Kimberley & Tamara Pinegar
The Dueling Pianos Show is an all-request, audience participation event that happens nightly. The Twins, Kimberley & Tamara Pinegar, since age six have mastered the piano. You can hear The Twins play their baby grand pianos and share with the audience favorite songs from the 60"s to today's hits. Whether you like country western, Aerosmith, Andrew Sisters or AC/DC The Twins will entertain you with amazing quick wit humor and the unique ability to keep the audience involved for hours.
Don't misunderstand, because each show is different and the show ranges from R rated, depending on the audience and The Twins attitude, all the way to a very wholesome atmosphere. The Piano Bar has an age minimum, 21.
It is amazing how The Twins balance the audience participation, music and comedy at a high pitch hour after hour. This is the type of show that you can watch/participate and then realize that hours have gone by since you first sat down and you have been to one of the best shows you ever saw. And if all that was not enough, the show is FREE!

Speaking of appetites....I think better with a full stomach.
I"ve been to both the Hash House and Maggiano"s and they both do excellent food at very reasonable prices for very generous portions.
As for The Range...I love a last night full blown steak meal and budgets get ignored. I"ve been itching to try this out.

Grilled-to-order steaks come in all sizes at The Range Steakhouse, from the 8-ounce filet to the 24-ounce porterhouse. The slow-roasted prime rib, with natural au jus and fresh horseradish, is served in a 12- or 16-ounce cut.

The Range also presents delicious seafood items, such as grilled Atlantic salmon fillets, swordfish steaks, giant shrimp scampi, twin lobster tails and Alaskan king crab legs, which are available as an entree (a full pound) or a side order (a half pound). In fact, guests may order any seafood item as a side to a steak entree and create a surf and turf meal of their own design. Other mouth-watering entrees include free-range grilled chicken, blackened rib-eye chops or the double-cut pork loin chops.

Las Vegas Roller Coasters & Thrill Rides
Some of the best thrill rides and roller coasters in the world are in the Vegas area. In fact, almost all of these rides are at local hotels. Here"s a rundown of roller coasters in Las Vegas.
Not my cup of tea but a last longer could be entertaining.
Stratosphere Hotel & Casino
What:
SkyJump
First they put a roller coaster on top, which was the highest roller coaster in the world. Then they put up the Big Shot, which accelerates you straight up as the whole world seems to disappear below you. Then they built a ride that put you over the edge. Then they built another ride which put you over the edge, but that one actually points you towards the ground and dangles you. How were they gonna top that?
Well, they did. The newest ride has you jumping off the tower, "skydiving" 108 stories to the ground. God. Damn! There"s no paraCrute, you travel along zip lines which have a braking system. The only downside is the price -- $100 per jump. (If that"s out of your budget then Insanity (below) will give you almost as good a scare for only $12.).
Website Link (http://www.skyjumplasvegas.com/)
What:
Insanity
This is a spinning ride that dangles you over the edge. Never tried it. Maybe it was the screams and the look of sheer terror on the faces of the riders as I watched them from the observation deck, or maybe it"s just that I didn"t care to be dangled a sixth of a mile from the ground that day. Anyway, if you want to be scared, this is your ticket.
What:
X Scream
This one is a see-saw thingie that dangles you over the edge. It doesn"t go as far over the edge as Insanity, and you definitely feel more enclosed and grounded, so I imagine it"s not nearly as terrifying. Still, it"s pretty scary if you"re scared of heights. One nice touch is that on one of the runs after your cars get to the edge of the platform, the whole arm stutters and drops the angle even more, making you think for a second that the thing broke and you"re about to hurtle towards your death, ha ha.
What:
Big Shot
This is the one that made the Stratosphere famous. You"re strapped into a chair with your legs dangling, and then they shoot you straight up the tower"s steeple, 160 feet in two seconds, at four G"s. Then they freefall you so you get negative G"s, then shoot you up again, etc. If this ride started at ground level it would be scary, but add to that the fact that you"re a fifth of a mile from the ground and it"s terrifying. As you"re going up you worry that the brakes will fail and you"ll go straight off the steeple and land down the strip at the Sahara.

Downtown: Fremont Street
What:
Fremont Flightlines
The newest ride, opening in October 2010. Ride along a zipline right under the canopy of the Fremont Street Experience -- 800 feet at speeds up to 35mph. Here"s a review from one of the first people to ride it. The price is $15 before 6pm, and $20 after 6pm. Tip: Book online or by phone, and then start at the front of the line when you get there. A picture is worth a thousand words, so see the video at right.

Here"s a review from a friend of mine..
There were about 6 of us there, one of the group got turned away for being over weight, they have a strict weight tolerance, thankfully I am now down to below their maximum allowed weight (by 1/2 a lb clothed), I actually had to take my phone and keys out to make weight.
The setup is pretty nice, you go to their office, step on the scale (everyone got weighed), sign the waiver that no one ever reads, and get your wristband. After the office, you hop on an elevator and go up to the top of the garage, where they have a queue for the riders. There were not too many people hitting up the zipline that afternoon, and the wait was pretty short.
After the queue you get to the harness station. They pretty much have a one size fits all harness, and let"s just say they"re not really built to fit a 6" guy...SNUG was an understatement!!! After narrowing the chance that I"ll ever have children at the harness station it was time to zip.
This was the hardest part of the entire thing, you walk out onto a platform at the top of the scaffolding, yes you are hooked in for safety, but having a mild fear of heights, the walk was not the most fun. They then latch you onto the line, and tell you where to hold your hands (important so you don"t hit yourself in the face when you stop), and they send you on your way.
The Zipline isn"t really that long, but I will say it was a RUSH...at the end they take your photo, as well as a few that they take while you"re on the line (I was turned around at the camera so it wasn"t a good photo), and they do a nice job of jacking up the photo price!
New York, New York
What:
Manhattan Express
Casino Player magazine says: "At two minutes and 45 seconds, it"s easily the longest-lasting ride in Las Vegas. Top speed is 67 mph and the biggest drop is 144 feet, but what keeps everyone coming back for more is the insane 540-degree spiral, not to mention the fact that it takes place over a pretty solid replica of New York Harbor. If this ride doesn"t put you in a "New York State of Mind", nothing will."

I know this is going to be a weird question...but can we have the odd place that isn"t centred around alcohol...mainly cos I don"t drink.
Cheers mate, will still be in attendance at most of these though.
-
I know this is going to be a weird question...but can we have the odd place that isn"t centred around alcohol...mainly cos I don"t drink.
Heresy!
Of course...they are coming....that"s what the "Reserved" sections are for...the odd restaurant suggestion, rollercoaster last longer, re-enactment of the fountain scene of Oceans 11...you know the boring stuff.
My thoughts were that, as a group, we are kind of centred around having a night out so that"s where I started. You"ll notice that most of the suggestions also include a restaurant.
Like I said, if anyone want to add some research and suggest something...I"ll play along.

In The Aria, Cirque du Soleil have "Elvis" the show which is absolutely superb. A sort of Elvis meets Dodgeball meets Spiderman sort of thing. The artists are simply fantastic and well worth seeing. About £100 per show.
-
The Imperial Palace also has Karaoke.
Imperial Palace Karaoke Club is conveniently located on the third floor next to the Sports Bar (accessible from the Strip)
STARTING TIMES
9 p.m. Sunday - Thursday
10 p.m. Friday - Saturday
It"s OK....but nothing special. I preferred Bills as it has better seating and is on the casino floor.
-
Added a couple of eateries near the top.
-
How about a trip downtown?
I"ve only been once for a couple of hours, any suggestions?

How about a trip downtown?
I"ve only been once for a couple of hours, any suggestions?
It"s worth seeing the Fremont Street Experience if you are there but I wouldn"t make a special trip.
If a group wanted to head down to Fremont Street one evening I wouldn"t try and dissuade them but it"s really just a bunch of tired casinos (excepting perhaps the Nugget).
Casinos they can see on the strip...I don"t know of anything I would make a special trip just to see....but if anyone knows different...
Oh, I forgot Hogs and Heifers...never been but I hear it gets lively....they based Coyote Ugly on it...but cleaned it up for the movie.
-
Added Rollercoasters and Thrillrides...well some of them.
-
Top top work Paulie, I will give this the love it deserves when I get home.

I know this won"t appeal to most players attending from Blighty but I"ve had some great times at...
The Imperial Palace Mixed Game which spreads every Sunday at 7PM. It is 3/6 Limit, and has a fixed 10 game rotation. A flyer that explains all the games is available in the poker room.
The mixed is a preset rotation of the following games in the following order:
Omaha 8
Razz
2-7 Triple Draw
Double Flop Omaha
Stud 8
Badugi
3-2-1 Omaha
A-5 Triple Draw 8 or better
4 Card Ocean Crazy Pineapple
Baduci (2-7 TD with a 4 Card Badugi for half the pot)
Each game is played for 8 hands (tracked with lammers). It is a raked game, with a max rake of $3 per hand (with no jackpot drop). The game always goes all night (usually breaking around 6AM) and often spreads on two tables. You must call no later then 4PM to get a seat in th3 7PM main game. It takes about 3.5 hours to get through one full rotation of all 10 games.
Of course, Sunday is also proposed to be Day 2 of the APAT Event but I thought I would just mention it as it can be a fun way to donk of a couple of hundred (or not) while have a bunch of laughs.
In, in, in and in. Been planning to get myself on the list for the mixed game ever since I started planning my trip!
-
For Beer and Whisky lovers I would highly recommend this place.
off strip - but worth the $10 taxi IMO

Did someone say Kareoke??
PHILLLLLL!! can we can we can we CAN WE?!!?!? PLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE :D
-
I see shows as being more of an individual thing but each to their own.
For those only going for 7 days, you have a lot to pack in (including the APAT event and Adam"s Batchelor Night so pick and choose carefully.
OK....what else would you like to see?
Remember I"m thinking for groups...not necessarily all 100 of us (the way this is going) but say 7 - 12.
-
Many thanks for doing this Paulie
Defo food (and drink) for thought there.
-
Many thanks for doing this Paulie
My pleasure.
Just remember folks...THIS IS YOUR TRIP...do what YOU want to do....I"ll throw out the odd suggestion or 40 but it"s going to be the things I think you might like (sprinkled with a touch of my experience) that will make it your own.
We"re all different and like different things...if you have some thoughts, do some research on your own and post it up...I"m pretty much always ready to pitch in a enhance/deepen what you"ve already found.

Has anyone tried Earl of Sandwich @ PHo?
I"ll probably focus on researching food places (I"m a closet foodie) that aren"t high-end restaurants.

Why would you not have the best room in Vegas on your list - The Venetian.
If want wild, late night cash games with plenty of drunk, hobby players, then add MGM and Planet Hollywood.
Binions - understandable, particularly for the first time visiting poker player.
Flamingo - seems like an odd choice.
Golden Nugget - Nice room, the GN is definitely the pick of the downtown properties in all respects.
Belagio - Over rated, imho. Tables are too close together. $2/$5 NL is lowest stake.
Ceasars - A big, high ceilinged room remote from the gaming floor, it"s OK but I think it is lacking in atmosphere. Also due to it"s location, no one is ever just walking past and thinks to themselves, "I have an hour an hour to kill, why not play some poker?"
Of course, these are just my opinions... "different courses for different horses" and all that.
-
For me the Venetian was the best Poker room, and also has crazy cash games late on! The Aria looked amazing although I didn"t play there.
Also visit -
the Hoover Dam - if you haven"t seen it it"s worth a look - also scary how little water Vegas has left!
The Grand Canyon - only a few hours away, and is amazing
The Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon - Okay maybe a bit out there, but the geology is very interesting!
Visit the outside bar in the Wynn, with the waterfall, can"t remember what its called, but there was a waiting list to get out there in January.

Oddly...I agree with everything Alan has said here.
For me, my poker for the given week will be spent primarily in the Venetian and it"s only a short walk from Harrahs.

What would your suggestions be for a first timers "must-dos" in one week?
My list is getting so long, I may have to extend my stay to 6 months!!!!
Not sure my wife would understand that...:)

That"s a tough one because, to a great extent, it depends on the type of person you are and your budget.
Certainly cruise the strip just to take in the view...pick up a cab at, say, Mandalay Bay and ask him to take you down to the Stratosphere....it might cost you a few dollars (depending on traffic) but at least you"ll see the highlights.
Alternatively, when you arrive at the airport take a limo...you can book one for an hour or so for c.$80 IIRC and do it in style before he drops you off at your chosen hotel...he"s your driver and he"ll have heard it before.
If you have an evening free from other activities, take Fremont Street downtown...see the Fremont St Experience but other than that there"s no particular reason to hang around, unless you want to.
See a Cirque show...spend the money and there are plenty to chose from and you can often pick up half price tickets at some of the discount booths.
Perhaps take in a Comedy Show...most large casinos will have something..It"s a decent way to spend a couple of hours in the evening and you are usually done by 10.30pm
Window shop in Caesars Forum Shops or PHo"s Miracle Mile
Wander a couple of the high end casinos, Bellagio, Caesars, Venetian.

My advice wouldn"t differ much from Paulie"s (although I don"t do shows)...
There are plenty of you arriving from MAN on the same flight - definitely get together with 4 or 5 others and book a limo for the airport - hotel trip. All limo bookings are a minimum of one hour, ample time to get the driver to give you a tour of the strip.
A poker player visiting Vegas for the first time and not visiting/playing Binions just seems wrong - so definitely get downtown one afternoon/evening. Play a tourney or some cash at Binions, Golden Nugget, across the street from Binions, also has nice poker room. The Freemont Street Experience lightshow (free), is totally overwhelming, although the content is sometimes a bit lame. Rich "WarBwastardo" and Paul "TheGame" can give info about Glitter Gulch (next-door to Binions), if you require it. I actually quite like it downtown.
Of the posh hotels, the "don"t miss" for me, would be the Venetian - get up to the first floor, wander along the canal, listen to the gondoliers sing, past the over-priced designer shops to St Marks Square, where there are plenty of restaurants. Yes, all indoors, on the first floor - it definitely has the "wow factor"! The Venetian Deepstack Festival will be on when we are there so the best poker room in Vegas will be very busy during the afternoons and evenings.
A low stakes Pai-Gow table, with mates, is a great way to make the most of the "free" cocktails. Like all table games you will lose at Pai-Gow, but at least you lose really slowly and have the craic doing it.
The Bellagio fountain show (free) is worth a look if you"re in the area after dark.
If you are into thrill rides (I"m not), then I guess those on top of the Stratosphere tower would have to be on the list.

Oh, and I don"t know about the rest of you, but Joobs and I plan on spending one afternoon at a shooting range.
No - didn[t fancy it but been to Dailies in there a couple of times - very good food. Prices are strip prices so you can get cheaper but it"s not bad value at all "cos the portions are massive!

My bucket list includes:
1. learning to play craps as it looks fun and I like the idea of regular high fives with random americans.
2. I know I"ll get some stick but I"d like to see the Phantom of the Opera show at the Venetian.
3. A Coors Lite pitcher session at the IP bar.
4. A visit to the Voodoo lounge never been there would like a look around.
5. The Monte Carlo pub looks worth a visit.
In fact, I think I"ll have a beer now this post has made me thirsty!
-
I fancy a couple of rounds of golf on one (or two) of these desert courses in and around Vegas.
Any other golfers fancy it?
(Virgin will carry golf clubs FOC!)

There are MUCH better places for pitcher sessions within a couple of minutes walking distance. Most IP bars are crap...believe me, I"ve fallen out of all of them.
BTW...wanna learn how to play craps?

I hadn"t got anywhere in mind... but 86 miles seems a bit excessive when there are loads of courses around LV.
@HankDHaney recomends Bears Best, Summerlin - http://www.clubcorp.com/Clubs/Bear-s-Best-Las-Vegas/Golf - about 10 miles west of the strip on W Flamingo.
Rhodes Ranch - http://www.rhodesranchgolf.com/sites/courses/layout9.asp?id=613&page=33162 - is supposed to be quite good also.

Pizzled can help you out with this ;D
-
Right - latest research shows the following sounds like fun:
FOOD:
For those of us who don"t really care what they are eating, then you can find a McDonalds/Subway/TGI Fridays etc etc etc all over. I"ve not really been looking at the high-end places but would link you to this twoplustwo thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/108/las-vegas-lifestyle/las-vegas-fine-dining-thread-214505/) which is about fine dining in Las Vegas.
For stuff in between, Joobs and I noted the following places:
The Cheesecake Factory (http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/) - Despite the name, doesn"t just serve cheesecake. A full-service restaurant with big portions, good prices, and excellent cheesecake. Apparently. (Please don"t forget that I am a Vegas Virgin and have never tried any of these places!)
Hash House A Go Go (http://www.hashhouseagogo.com) - Just ask PaulieD about this place. He profiled it in his blog.
Earl Of Sandwich (http://www.earlofsandwichusa.com/) - Makes Subway seem like the rat burger vans you get outside nightclubs at 3am. Comes highly recommended in all reviews.
This twoplustwo thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/108/las-vegas-lifestyle/las-vegas-casual-dining-thread-967298/) is all about casual dining.
Also, don"t forget all the buffets - recommended ones include Wynn, Spice Market at Planet Hollywood and Cosmopolitan. Avoid Circus Circus!
My main tip though is to go to HERE (http://www.restaurant.com). This is restaurant.com or r.com. What they basically do is sell gift certificates with restrictions on them. They also often produce discount codes up to 80% (currently 80% off using code HOT until 16th August). All you do is go to their website, find a restaurant you like the look of and see what certificates they offer. Buy one, put their code in and voila. You"ll be amazed at the savings. Oh, and yes, if a $100 certificate is reduced to $35 when you go to their site, that code does take another 80% off the $35!
GUNS:
The Gun Store (http://thegunstorelasvegas.com/)
Discount Firearms (http://www.discountfirearmsinc.com/)
Las Vegas Gun Range (http://www.lasvegasgunrange.net/)
Make your own choice on this one!
DRIVING:
Exotics Racing (http://www.exoticsracing.com/) - Must have a driver"s licence for this one. I know Duke and Joobs are definitely up for this. Driving Lambo"s/Ferrari"s etc around Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Drive Petty (http://www.drivepetty.com/) - As above, but NASCAR cars instead of exotic cars.
And for those without driving licences:
Fast Lap Las Vegas (http://www.fastlaplv.com/) - Indoor go-karting. I quite fancy an Ironman race myself.

Okies, Here goes with my 1 1/2p worth. . . Firstly...
FOOD. Cheesecake factory is awesome and the best value in Vegas, with huge portions. Grand Luxe cafe in Venetian and Palazzo are just the same as have the same owners (and prices), just without all the cheesecake selection !!
Texas De Brazil. Steak/Grill house, $49 charge then eat away to ur hearts content, as much as u like, all cooked fresh and a wide selection.
Steak. Outback it reasonable, CUT in Venetian Does huge range of High-end Steaks, Expensive but not ott....as does Carnevinho. The Steakhouse at the back of Bally"s is great quality and good value. StripSteak in Mandalay Bay is also immense. Also Musashi (search on YouTube) to see my favourite place in las Vegas, period. Make sure you sit at the teppan, not just at a normal table.
Sushi Samba In Palazzo is deffo an experience if you like that sort of thing.
Lastly, for somethin different, E @ Jaleo in the Cosmopolitan is an 8 seater restaurant with a 29 piece taster menu, as i know theres some posh ****ers out there.....
Drink.
Obv free whilst playing table games and machines, but usually works out costing me a mint so i just tend to pay. ;-) (I may have a gambling problem...it"s being looked into.)
O"sheas is basic, shabby and a ****load of fun. $1 beers in centre of strip, Winning.
Fat Tuesday bars are great fun, Mainly the one in the IP, but theres one in PH shops and forum too. cheep and potent alcoholic margheritas !!
Clubs.
Surrender in the Wynn/ XS in Encore are awesome. Tables are ridic.. (from $3000-$10000) so just pay cover charge, groups of males over 6 will have to get a table so seperate ;)
Crown in the Rio is about $300 for a table, with a bottle and service, and real good fun.
Margheretaville is good (opposite osheas) Not too pretentious or expensive but not open l8 which sucks.
Ho"s
The obvious is Spearmint, but minimal touching is allowed and overspending is encouraged, Sapphires is the biggest, but again up there own ****s. Best value and fun are downtown, with the pick of the bunch being the Olympic garden, All clubs offer limo service, and will prob save you the cover charge too if u negociate .... you"ll need all ur $$$ for inside :-)
Poker. Cash I"d recommend Bally"s for NLHE low stakes, or stratosphere and the IP, though IP cardroom is small and limited, it has no regs and is super soft. Venetian cardroom is the best in Vegas.. Period. A must visit, especially with the deepstack series on. Binions downtown has gotta be visited, along with the nugget. Tournies in caesars are busy and not silly buyins...at all times of the day.
Shows. OK, a bit gay i know. Obv "O" @ Bellagio, most well known and breathtaking. Most expensive too. Jersey boys is good if u like old music, Love @ Mirage is meant to be good and i"ll prob be going to see this this time. La Reve in the Wynn is the best and not crazily priced IMO. If you consider it a waste of $$ watch the show outside treasure island , or them fountain thingy"s @ Bellagio, well worth half hour of anyones time ;)
PS. watch out for anyone who asks you the time, or to change a chip for cash on the strip. TRhey are most likely to try to rob you...and beware or long-hauling taxi drivers.... Enjoy !!

With my previous group trips we usually have a slap-up steak dinner without sparing the expense....you know the sort of place where you pay through the nose for a steak and pay extra for veg.
I believe Harrah"s has a fairly decent establishment (The Range) with a good picture window view of the Strip.
If that appeals I can make reservations for Wednesday night when we get there.

Rhodes Ranch - http://www.rhodesranchgolf.com/sites/courses/layout9.asp?id=613&page=33162 - is supposed to be quite good also.
Only just spotted this - I played Rhodes Ranch in March 2009 and was not disappointed
-
Now that I have booked, I have started looking at the suggested activities from the list:
Some Questions:
When is the batchelor party?
When is the wee man"s 21st?
Where is the wedding?
Things I"d like to do:
Harrah"s Duelling Pianos - (most are staying there so a big group night to kick things off sounds good..... and plays to the title of the other thread)
The Pub at Monte Carlo* - was it 200 different beers, count me in!
Range Steakhouse - I am up for this
Poker
Imperial Palace Mixed Game - this sounds fantasic, subject to any APAT Tourney and timings thereof (although I am usually free by 7pm Sunday to be fair) Paulie - What time does this run till?
Intend to make the trip to Binnions as I didn"t make it last time
Ditto the Ventian based on everyone else"s comments. I know I went to the venetian on my only other visit but I don"t recall finding the poker room, although I knew nothing about Vegas and wasn"t really a poker player back then**
Will play some $1/$2 at MGM as I really enjoyed this last time, mostly tourists, good fun and quite soft
*I will be placing myself in front of a TV showing saints" Heineken Cup game at 11am on Friday (they are 9 hours behind right?) so may well combine this with the Monte Carlo visit
**>>>Braced for the comments ;D

Several hours...often it will go all night...I"ve played it for 11 hours. Depends how many people want to play and for how long. Each 10 game rotation is about 3 hours.
Nearer the date I"ll be drumming up support on All Vegas Poker and Tweeting some locals. After a while though you"re just passing the money around and it just breaks up naturally.

Will definitely be dropping by for some of this....how long I get to play though depends on Joobs!

Tell her that JP & Paulie will make sure you leave the casino by 10.30am ;D

Has anyone tried Earl of Sandwich @ PHo?
I"ll probably focus on researching food places (I"m a closet foodie) that aren"t high-end restaurants.
Oh, and I don"t know about the rest of you, but Joobs and I plan on spending one afternoon at a shooting range.
Awesome, get a soup with your sarnie and dunk away. Then, depending on how big an eater you are, save half the sandwich for laterz
-
I hear very good things about Ping Pang Pongs at the Gold Coast too.
It is pretty good. They had a lot of dim sum coming around last time I was there.
-
Carnival court is a bit rubbish tbh.
Dueling pianos is awesome. Not always the twin girls playing. There are lots of other piano players that change through the evening.
There is a 12-24 MIX game in the aria quite a bit of the time too. So if a few of you turn up and go on the list I"m sure it will run. Min buy in $160.
The aria pays you $3 an hour in comps during graveyard hours too. $2 the rest of the time.
-
Nobody planning on playing any poker then?
I am, I have a cardroom bucket list:
Binions
Flamingo
Golden Nugget
Belagio
Caesars
Bellagio spreads $1-2 now. Their cash games are pretty good there. It is a little cramped but not too bad. Venetian is a much better room but the cash games are stale too often. Caesars often have lively 1-3 games and is close to bellagio do them both on the same session.
Binions, flamingo, golden nugget.... i wouldn"t go to any of those to actually play! But go and have a looksie

@Rich - you are in Vegas at the mo yes? Timing is everything unless you intend to stay and wait for us?
Edit -- DOH - read all unread before posting
I can buy a load of PAYG phones beforehand, register them and then distribute them to anyone wanting one if you want. BTW I am in Vegas now until December.
There are some decent deals, $40 will get the phone and 750 minutes. $70 with unlimited minutes and text.
-
PS. watch out for anyone who asks you the time, or to change a chip for cash on the strip. TRhey are most likely to try to rob you...
Never had this.
and beware or long-hauling taxi drivers.... Enjoy !!
Yeah, don"t let the taxi take the interstate from the airport, it will cost you $10+ more than it should. He will say it avoids the traffic, but its just a lie, it"s twice the distance.
-
Our (MrsSirP and I) current eating list is as follows:
Outback Steakhouse
Don"t bother....if you"ve eaten in one over here...it"s no different. Sort of a TGI Friday"s.
I wouldn"t bother either. Maybe All american bar and grill at the RIO for a similar priced american steakhouse (rather than fake aussie). Or Gallaghers at New York New York, all the steaks are on show in the fridges.

Been looking at tournaments for Vegas trip, and have bookmarked the following as probables, time allowing and also Apat game dependant.
Venetian $550 (need a bink online before we go for this one) or More than likely the $150 bh on the Friday.
Binnions weekend $5k added $100 (Apat event permitting).
Aria 1pm or 7pm $125.
Wynn 12pm $125
Harrahs $80.
Depending on how I run smaller crapshoots to be added as and when, hope to bink a bit here and there but if not no big deal, back to the grind in December looking forward to meeting up and having a good time.
Good luck and run good.

Shoot...I"ve been looking into some less...erm...touristy places to hit up while we"re out there. Understand that most, if not all, of these are waaay off-strip and local places but I"m hearing good things. Just don"t judge by the outside.
I know that most of these won"t appeal to most...hell, even more than a couple but here we go.
Firstly, not far from the Chapel of Flowers (hint, hint) ..

FWIW when I was in Vegas in June I had a great night in town square, vegas on advice from
a few locals. Good food/bars/live music etc. Beer was sooo cheap early & ate for $5 ! Remember a bar with a rodeo bull.
Ended in the Blue Lagoon (or something like that).
Wish I was going again but twice in one year may just be pushing mrs mouse too far!
HAVE A GREAT TIME.
-
I"m not especially planning on heading downtown (been there, done that) but if it"s something you might want to do...don"t forget Fremont Street East...here"s a guide to both.

Sian and I drove to Eagles Point from Vegas in August and the last 15 to 20 miles, spent rallying up (and then down) a desert dirt road in a rental car was awesome. It takes a day though, but you can fit in a lot of route 66 magic, hoover dam, etc. However you get there Sharon, you"ll find the Grand Canyon amazing.
-
btw what does "douchey" mean??
Urban Dictionary:
One that emits striking qualities of a douchebag. Objectively speaking, most common description of complete assholes who maintain an extremely shallow personality.
Pertaining to something (i.e. a place, a group of people,) that contains an abnormal amount of douche bags.
Douchebag:
Someone who has surpassed the levels of jerk and asshole, however not yet reached f*cker or motherf*cker.
A person with a ****ty personality that needs to "take themself the f*ck down" or "go home and get their f*cking shine box." A douchebag usually assumes the form of a hair-gelling pretty-boy but can also be described as an overzealous, pompous, or vexatious a**hole that most people wish were killed with a Mortal Kombat fatality.

Thanks Des, I wish I had a day to do that - I have made a note for next time though;). The Hoover dam is on the to do list for another day. So if anyone else is interested in this (there were so many tours/variations top wade through - mindboggling stuff) I"ve booked the early morning tour on the Friday (18th) - I think a half a day tour will be enough first off (then I can fit in some poker/snooze/whatever before what I think will be an epic Friday night).

Did we get the karting sorted?
Is there enough interest?
-
Just noticed Fremont Street has been mentioned a few times but we don"t have a list of interest. I would suggest we have a few possible times:-
Sunday Afternoon/Evening (We will all be too drunk from Friday to last until day two in the APAT)
Tuesday Afternoon/Evening
Wednesday Afternoon (I am assuming there will be some sort of meal on Wednesday evening)
My choice would be the Sunday afternoon possibly include the evening (APAT should be done by about 9pm anyway)
Who would be up for a trip downtown and when would you like it to be?
-

That be worth a go maybe on the fri day before APAT ?
-

Wasn"t Sunday evening set aside for Tighty karaoke?
Although you could do early evening down at Fremont street, watch the light show and then head back to the Strip. That might work.
Hmmm...there were a couple of places I wanted to hit in Fremont Street East.
1. Insert Coins (http://insertcoinslv.com/)
2. The Griffin (http://www.fremontstreetbars.com/fremont-east-bars/the-griffin/)
and possibly..Hogs & Heifers (http://www.hogsandheifers.com/)

Yeah, the plan would have to be to head back up to the strip, I think a couple of people would also like to play cash at the GN.

I thought that might be one of the backup venues for Friday given that it got such a positive response when it was suggested before (on some thread, somewhere - it"s so easy to lose track :D )

Nope....wasn"t a back up venue for Friday.
Essentially, Frankie"s was as far north as I was planning, then south & west as far as McMullans then back to home base.
Of course, this is MY Plan...others may have different intentions, motivations or urges. ;D

Don"t you have to be a member for that one?
What"s wrong with The Gun Store?
-
You are correct...I missed that.
Gun Store would work....not only that but there is a "Old Vegas" decent restaurant & bar just a few steps away.
I"m sold.
-
Hmmmm... for Monday with all the moving around I wonder if there is value in a bus rental.
Wedding
Las Vegas Sign
Gun Store
Tropicana
You can get a 24 seater bus from these people [LINKY] (http://lasvegaslxlimo.com/Default.aspx?tabid=389) for $90 an hour....which is $4 an hour per person.
Might be cheaper than cabs...I dunno.
-
There are packages available - but this is why I like the look of the gun store - just pick and choose, and no pre-booking needed

Went to the Gun Shop in August and thought it was great value for money. Pick a gun, target and after a relatively short queue, away you go. It"s a bit disconcerting to see the shop staff walking around with side arms on though.

Had a good steak in here before. The waitress was stunning, and had a couple of drinks at the bar afterwards which was a great laugh. Live music there as well.

Had a good steak in here before. The waitress was stunning, and had a couple of drinks at the bar afterwards which was a great laugh. Live music there as well.
I shall be in there before Carnaval Court on the 17th...got to lay in a good bedding of food before inhaling all that alcohol...don"t you know?
