Title: APAT UK Pub Poker Championship - Discussion Thread
Post by: Paulie_D on May 13, 2011, 17:00:58 PM
The APAT United Kingdom Pub Poker Championship; the fifth event of Season Five, will be held at the G Casino in Blackpool on June 25th & 26th, 2011.

Following on from the very successful UK Team Championship events of the past three seasons; this event will be open to Pub teams of 8 players, with 50% of the prize pool plus a UKIPT Seat and National Medals going towards individual prizes, while the other 50% of the prize pool, plus the title and Championship Cup will be awarded in the UK Pub Poker Championship event.

Players participating will be required to wear uniform team shirts representing their Pubs, which should be provided by the Pubs / players themselves.

The entry fee per player will be £50, with no registration fee being charged.  The event will consist of twenty-one Pub Teams in total.  Players finishing in the top 50 positions of the Championship will earn points for their Pub team; with 1 point being earned for an exit in 50th place and 50 points being earned for winning the event.

My wife (who owns the Travellers Rest) does not have an 888 account and needs to set one up as she will be included in the team.  I already have an account so will there be a problem with creating a new account from the same address?  Is there any way round this?

I believe that an 888 account is required for all players but the same geographical address should not be an issue (AFAIK).

She will probably need a separate EMAIL address but a simple sign-up with G-Mail/Hotmail/etc. is not problem these days.

Not sure why there would be a problem.  Everyone has the same password, and over 50 players have regged okay so far.

Not sure if it is case sensitive ?

I had this down on my calendar to play but only just realised that it is a team / pub event. Is there a Leeds-based pub team I can join? Preferably somewhere near Churwell / Morley but given that we are talking 21 pubs from the UK I realise I can"t be too fussy!

What commitment to actually attending the pub does a team member have to give?

I know the pub/club and the names on the list who hang out in that place.  All very real.  Hence Ger calling it the aquarium in his blog posts every Friday.  Cram packed full of fish.   :D

You sure you want team photos?  Have you seen the BCPC lineup? Hope you"ve got a good soft focus lens! And of course an anti-glare one for Steves head.  ;)

That"s just a vicious rumour. We have Steve in the team as he tends to donk off all his chips early. Then we get him to rail us and stand behind opponents. Every so often you"ll see him bend down. That"s so we can see the reflection of the players hole cards. He"s currently in talks with the WPT about the use of StevesHeadCam for future events.  ;)

hmmm what was the last team event we entered? uhhh Bolton? Who made final table?? Meeeeee.    And which team mates stayed in Bolton after their early exits to do the team thing and provide rail? Somewhere between none and not many!

Perhaps gonna wear a woolly hat in Blackpool ;D

errrr......

Rule 15 Amendment

This rule has been amended as follows :-

We have clarified that Collusion and Chipdumping is against the rules of the league and any player found doing so, will receive a points penalty against their team.  Any accusations will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

We have dropped the inclusion of soft play from this rule.  Soft play between team mates is an accepted part of the team aspect of this league, and all players should be aware of this.

Disclosure of hole cards whilst there is still action to go in a hand is considered collusion, and we would ask all players to refrain from doing this.

Should have played for LPPL* then cos the whole team stayed to support me. A few others even travelled in from Yorkshire on the Sunday.

errrrr all you like, the APAT live team games are no soft play and always have been

Half the prize pool once again here is to the Individual finishing positions, which is incentive enough

Selective memory? Me & Matt stayed around for you and Will on the final day plus Will stayed around after he was busted till after you were busted!
Mal and Chris (not apat regulars) went early. Tony took the chance to see his mum I think. Not sure about Tod.

100% of the prize pool in the league games goes to the individual finishing positions, so I"m not sure that this argument stands up. Top prize in div 1 last sunday was over $400 for $11 entry, so not insignificant. In fact, one could argue that there"s LESS to gain by playing as a team in the online event than there is in the live event.

I too don"t understand why there should be any difference in the soft play rule as written above between online and live.

No Andy, not selective memory. Somewhere between none and not many - there were just two left to rail Will and I on day two (you and Matt - and much appreciated btw)

Would have made the winning team photo interesting if we had somehow scraped the win :D

I think 50% of the team still being there is pretty good, since most of us donked off well before the close of day 1  ;D
Once the team can"t win I don"t see why anybody needs to stick around tbh, since any remaining players are then only playing for themselves (assuming no team deal).

Really looking forward to this. Should be a good one.

Well, i wasn"t there for that one, else i"d have railed as i always do. And i did say "tends" to donk them off early.

I look forward to the wooly hat.  :)

but a correct statement. Just be sensible.

eg If you want to pass Aces to keep your mate in, and you fold without showing no one knows. If you show, then APAT Tournament rules apply, at the discretion of the TD
