Title: Team glasgow LIVE
Post by: Sef on August 15, 2011, 12:46:24 PM
Thought i"d start a new thread instead of clogging up the sign up thread. ;)

Some of us joined Team Glasgow from the Scottish Championships, Some of us from the build up to it and some of us are just part of the APAT proverbial furniture. The fact is we all found our way to Team Glasgow and we as a team are looking bigger and stronger (and uglier) than ever and what better to bring the team together than a nice team building day of taking each others money in the competitive art form we all know and love as live poker!

So on that note here goes......

8th October at the Mint looks like a no-go according to John Clark (tourney organiser). He suggested we could do the 1st or 15th October, or alternatively all join the £30+5 deepstack game on 1 of the Sundays (9th suits me). If we get enough numbers he says he"ll set up sarnies and stuff for us as well  8)

Played yesterday, only 13 showed up so pretty disappointing. The 2 old firm teams were playing so imagine that"s why the numbers were so low  ::)

So on that note here goes......

Private tournament for Team Glasgow + Specially selected guests (we all have friends who we can invite along that maybe dont play online or aint on APAT or suchlike)

Saturday 1st October 2011
Venue - Mint casino Glasgow
Buy in - £30 + £5

We would need minimum 30 players to cover the venue cost but my idea would be to get 50+ players and hopefully get a few more Team Glasgow sign ups through it aswell.

So there it is folks please post your thoughts and if you are attending ASAP (this week preferably) so we can get it booked and confirmed.

Ok guys 8th was booked so had to change to 1st. Hope this os good for everyone don"t forget to invite friends and lets make it a great day

Seems fine to have an open invite, I agree the more the merrier and I"m sure the venue would welcome all as well (maybe worth checking about membership, ID etc if needed for anyone who"s not already a memeber of Stanley/Mint). It"s not likely to attract people from much further than the central belt anyway.

Think we should make this an annual APAT mini-event if it works out?  ;D

I like the annual idea mate, the first of many!! yeah thats one thing either join online or bring ID if you aint a member. My mate came to an event in there and forgot his ID, they let him join with stipulations but dont want to say thats a defo so  better to bring ID n join.

The venue will welcome anyone we say is welcome as its a private event so yeah open invite is fine with me, could maybe recruit a few more for team glasgow (no poaching you Edinburgh boys. lol)

Gerry we will maybe try get a christmas one just for you. ;)

Hi Paul,

I would like to come along for this.  One other little issue, I asked you about a month ago (you told me to ask on the forum) if there was any chance of changing from Edinburgh to Glasgow club as there doesnt seem much interest in the East.

It would be much appreciated if you could find out what the chances are.

Cheers

Steph

As far as i am aware , this could not bee done during the season due to the league rules , once a player start playing for a team they must remain with that team for the current season.

best best is to wait till next season then join glasgow instead of edinburgh.

And there is no problem coming along to the Live event , its for Glasgow and friends so no problem Steph

More than welcome at the live event steph ;)

As for league, like gerry says, rules state once you play for a team your stuck there for the season. Aint found a loophole yet. :)

I can see my ac :as: losing to Grant`s 4c :3h: early on as he four flushes with  kh 7s  9h  jh :2h: as happened to me last night on party poker. and before you ask I did not limp in I raised 4 x BB from the button

Your 4*BB raise looks like a desperate attempt for no calls mate so of course I"m going to fish peel off a flop out of position then check call your C bet when I know that King out there is beating your middly/low pair  ;) You"ll be going deep as usual mate so no need to worry about another game but sure we could talk John into letting us have a wee sit n go for any early exits.

1 o clock......we r self deal lads...as of last night...

Was hoping we"d get a few dealers but no probs with this. I"d only ask that we make sure it"s people comfortable with dealing (esp not slow) as this can disadvantage one table over another. I"ve had this before with high blind card scenarios and ended up seeing about 6 hands per level because dealer was more used to online play. FWIW I"m happy to volunteer to take deal for a level or 2 and think it would be best to get a few volunteers before we start.

Congratulations to Neil Paterson on his win and everyone who cashed. Shug Cairnie luckboxed the first quad 10"s round about the first orbit thanks to his wonderful dealer  ;) . Great day at the Mint was had despite me not even making it to the dinner break, really glad we all got together for this and hope it"ll happen again sometime. Cheers to everyone who came along, all played in the right spirit and had some fun along the way. Was a nice tourney, played in good spirit.

How Carl managed to play after the dinner break having had steak pie, chips & peas followed by THREE bits of apple pie with cream I don"t know!

Think you can rely on seeing a few more of the Dumfriesshire contingent up as the 8 there this time enjoyed it.

I thought the Glasgow apat was a great success ! Poker was played in a great spirit with plenty of banter !! I noticed that the mint don"t do any poker on a Saturday maybe there"s scope for a few private tournaments perhaps a bigger buy in game could be interesting say £55 dealer delt deep stack might work ! What"s your thoughts on this guys ??

Congratulations to Neil Paterson on his win and everyone who cashed. Shug Cairnie luckboxed the first quad 10"s round about the first orbit thanks to his wonderful dealer  ;) . Great day at the Mint was had despite me not even making it to the dinner break, really glad we all got together for this and hope it"ll happen again sometime. Cheers to everyone who came along, all played in the right spirit and had some fun along the way. Thanks also to Paul for helping organise this and to Natalie and the girls at the casino for looking after us so well.

couldn`t agree more.. dealer did very well but will have to speed up a little as 4 hands per 45 minute level is a little on the slow side.
thanks to all involved in making it a great tourney. Can I put my tranfer request in now and sign a pre contract agreement for next season. I`m not Tevez, I will not refuse to play

Im sure there will be plenty more to come throughout the year mate ;)
