The first annual World Championship of Amateur Poker was a tremendous success, with players from over 20 countries taking part in a series that included five different poker variants across 8 nights at PokerStars.com

Event Number 1 - WCOAP Pot Limit Omaha

The first event, the WCOAP Pot Limit Omaha tournament was won by Croydon player James Dwinfour, beating the Dominican Republic"s Alejandro Espaillat into Silver and Malcolm Hepworth into Bronze. 

Dwinfour, who became the youngest APAT medal winner when winning a Bronze in December of last year, took a first prize of $576 in addition to 9 ranking points.

Event Number 2 - WCOAP Limit Stud

The second event of the series, brought together Stud specialists and a few who were trying their hand at the discipline for the first time.  In a thrilling battle, Croydon took its second Gold medal through Maurice Weeks, while Carlisle"s Dean Jopson took Silver and Gloucester"s Andrew Mills; a Gold medalist in the Japanese Open in June, took Bronze.

Maurice Weeks took $450 and 9 ranking points for his victory.

Event Number 3 - WCOAP Limit Razz

Many APAT members were looking forward to the Razz Championship, thanks to the entry of Jon Woodfield, Britain"s leading Razz finisher at this year"s World Series of Poker. 

Woodfield found himself a marked man and could not make the final table, which was won in a fantastic battle by Durham"s Mark Holliday.  Doctor Dietmar Bartsch from Munich took Silver while Londoner Rick Laming took Bronze.

Mark Holliday took $492 in addition to 9 ranking points.

Event Number 4 - WCOAP Heads Up

The Heads Up Championship proved very popular with many competitive matches.  The Gold medal was won in the end by Paul Ward from London.  North Londoner Suraj Shah took Silver while Darvel"s Johnny Gibbs took Bronze.

Paul Ward took $648 in addition to 9 ranking points.

Event Number 5 - WCOAP NLHE Championship

In a superbly competitive Championship main event, popular journalist Rick Dacey outplayed an extremely strong final table to take Gold and the inaugural APAT Online World Championship title.  Dacey had to beat two two agrgressive French players in Jean-Michel Ballocchi (Silver) and Sebastien Farrando (Bronze).

Rick Dacey took $2,220 and 9 ranking points.
