APAT Live Events & Golf (re-visited)...
« on: October 17, 2009, 17:04:38 PM »
The idea of an APAT golf event has been raised a couple of times before... has anything ever taken place??

I haven"t played many APAT events over this and last season but intend to try and make most events next year, plus Luton this year. And, as an enthusiastic (but not very good) golfer, feel there is some mileage in trying to get an "APAT Golf Society" up and running.

To test the water, I will be willing to organise a round for the Friday (20/11) prior to the European Champs at Luton.

Caddington Golf Club looks like a decent venue, just outside Luton. If we can get 12+ players we qualify for their society rates. To book as a society they require £100 deposit, so I will need at least a £10 deposit per player.

Given that sunset for 20/11 is 16:05, I guess we will need to be starting at 11:30 latest - which may pose a bit of a problem for those with a long way to travel.

So, whaddya think? Post if you fancy it and if we get a dozen players I"ll collect deposits and book it up.

I"ll take that as a "No One Interested" then.

Had I been going to Luton I would have been interested. If you arrange something similar in Season 4, count me in.

I will be interested in playing, but not at Luton, as this venue is not an overnight stay on a Friday evening.

Count me in for some of the other venues

I don"t play golf, but happy to offer my caddying services.

I"m an absolute whizz on Tiger Woods on my I-touch.  I play off scratch and have amassed some nice gear from my lifetime tournament winnings.   ;D

Sounds like it would be fun.

Definately interested in this, and would normally be available.  However, am playing in Team Championships so unavailable on that day.

I agree with the general consensus (apart from Duke  ;D) a great idea and will be up for it in the future but I can"t make it this time - I would also be able to provide some alcohol related prizes*

*Carlsberg don"t sponsor APAT Golf events but if they did  ;)

+1.

However, I like the idea of a golf meet-up on Fridays prior to APAT nationals Alan. Maybe something to get going for next season.

If we still have the Scottish National in Edinburgh next season give me a shout and I"ll arrange a game which will keep costs at a minimum too.
