Poker VT?
« on: February 28, 2010, 09:33:31 AM »
Hi,
I"m thinking of signing up for Daniel Negranu"s Poker VT training site.  Is anyone a member?  Is it any good?

Thanks

Jon

P.S. Is anyone a member of any other training sites?  Which are the best?  I"d like to get better at MTT"s.

been thinking about this for a while, have they still got the discount? TBH it look quite expensive, but they do update the vids every month, and the free samples are a good taster. I know that Daniel has filmed himself playing the sunday million a coupple of times and he went deep once doing commenetry on every hand.

Sounds good,
I think i signed up last year at some point.  When i had more money than sense!  So i think i just have to renew the monthly payments!
I like the idea of every hand by Daniel though.  Definately going to have a look in to it!  Not sure about the discount.  I think that might be why i signed up a while ago.

Just thought you might find this intereting!

Whist looking at the site (PokerVT) to work out whether to "re-enlist" (Turns out i did pay the sign up fee a couple of years ago) I found this:

https://www.pokervt.com/preview/index.cfm?id=JDNTc5OTcy

It took me a while to figure out whats going on, and why their all wearing headphones!  Surely they can"t all be listening to music!

What is actually going on is that they are all listening to music, but through sound proof headphones.  And their all wearing mikes!  They are commenting on their decisions, whilst playing a game!

Sounds pretty good to me, so i think i may be renewing my membership!   ;D

Signed up to this a few years ago.  It was OK, but it"s all about preaching the virtues of small ball poker.  Or it was when I was a member - so it"ll only be of value to you if you play a lot of deepstack events with slow blind structures.  I don"t so, I ditched it.

a few years ago??? not sure it was going then, and daniel negranue only finished his book on small ball 18 months ago but anyway, i think it would have more indepth and a large mix right now.
i know from the samples i have seen (and these free samples change from time to time) that they have cash games, and even plo and other mix games right now, live cash hands videos where the players invoved are talking throught their thought process. it also has a whole bunch of online and live pros including Annette Obestrad, Paul wasika and elky doing vids of them playing cash and sunday majors on stars...

i dont know anyone who subscribes to it, but from reading threads etc, people say it is a bit expensive. i really wish i could afford to give it a try.

Some time in 2008 then.  Back then it was mostly deep stack orientated, with a few pieces about online play from little Annette and a few other online pros.

try leggo poker, deuces cracked or drag the bar as a start off.

you get 7 days free trial - all the vids are drm free which means you can download as many as you like within the seven days - store them on your pc and watch them back at your leisure.

I have around 40 - 50 vids to watch all free from top online pros.

After wading through all that - you can then decide whether you want to commit to a monthly payment

hope this helps
