1 - WHO ARE YOU?
Dav Jones
2 - POST A PICTURE OF YOURSELF OR A LINK TO ONE (APAT OR OTHER)
3 - WHERE DO YOU COME FROM?
Far Forest near Kidderminster, via Telford, Chester, Anglesey and Little Sutton in South Wirral. I suppose Anglesey is "home".
4 - TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?
Mid to late thirties. A Plastic Welsh Scouser apparently. I"m a fairly crap boyfriend, a pretty good dad and I have 2 great daughters. A very average poker player, but I enjoy it.
Someone in transition. I"ve made a mess of my home life and I"m not sure how to sort it out. I hope I will eventually.
5 - WHAT IS YOUR POKER BACKGROUND?
Started watching LNP as did some of my work colleagues, and we really wanted to play live, so we decided to go to the £5 rebuy in Walsall. LNP regular Malcolm Harwood was 2 to my right - I was so nervous. When I won an early hand, he leaned over and growled "you"ve just won your first hand at poker, son". I was hooked. Me and my then partner then became fairly regular players at Walsall.
6 - WHAT IS YOUR PLAYING STYLE?
Very inconsistent. When I concentrate, I have quite a good feel for the game, but it"s too rare for it to stick. I hardly play any more which doesn"t help. I guess most Walsall players know me as a tight player, but it"s not always true.
7 - WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE POKER PLAYER AND WHY?
I behave at the table, so I love watching people who are totally opposite to me - Phil Hellmuth and Tony G for example. I think Daniel Neagreanu is brilliant though.
8 - WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ONLINE POKER SITE AND WHAT IS YOUR POKER ID THERE?
I haven"t played online for ages. I used to play a bit on ladbrokes, paradise and some others occasionally. I am always onespeedo.
9 - WHAT ARE YOUR POKER ACHIEVEMENTS?
My first tournament win will always be my favourite - it was on August 8th 2004, the day my dad would have been 70. I"ve still got the pink slip - it was a Sunday night £25 rebuy tourney.
10 - WHAT DO YOU DISLIKE ABOUT LIVE POKER CURRENTLY, THAT YOU WOULD CHANGE?
Just a small percentage of the players who are arrogant and generally ruin it for those around them. No need. And those who commentate on every hand. If I wanted to play with Jesse May, I would.
11 - HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT APAT?
Not sure - I think it was a flyer on a table in Walsall.
12 -WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT APAT TOURNAMENTS, STANDARD OF PLAY AND STRUCTURE?
These are pretty much the only tournaments I play now - really good structure and while the standard of play can vary, it is generally good. They are really going from strength to strength and deserve a lot of credit for what they have achieved. I"ll be gutted if I miss any future event.
13 - HAVE YOU PLAYED AT AN APAT LIVE EVENT AND IF SO, WHAT WAS MOST MEMORABLE ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE?
Yep - played the last 3 in Dublin, Luton and Walsall. Lasted until day 2 in Dublin and should have done better, but never mind. I was still with the better half then and we had a great time. Put the £10 chip you had to buy when you joined the casino on number 6 and it came in so the weekend was paid for. Then made the final table of the afternoon tournament on the Sunday after I got knocked out of the APAT event, so I was quids in.
KK got busted in Luton and Walsall...
14 - WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF POKER?
Seeing the girls whenever I can. Golf, watching footy - season ticket holder for Wales home matches. Eating, drinking, watching films, listening to talksport and reading sports autobiographies.
15 - WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK OR FILM?
Film - The Godfather
Book - Probably The Godfather aswell.
16 - WHAT THREE MUSIC ALBUMS WOULD YOU TAKE TO A DESERT ISLAND WITH YOU?
Blondie - Eat To The Beat
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
17 - FINALLY, WHAT MESSAGE WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEAVE FOR YOUR FELLOW APAT MEMBERS?
I"ve got KK so pass. Please.
