MULTI DAY 1 EVENT - Preferences...
« on: August 06, 2011, 17:15:26 PM »
Just in work on a Saturday afternoon, a bit bored, and looked at the DTD Deepstack entrants on their site.... It got me thinking:

According to their site Day 1a had 100 entries and looks like about 20 made it through to Day 2.
Day 1b has nearly 200 entries, and I"m sure around 40 will probably make Day 2.

So the percentage of players making it will probably be similar.... Obviously, you can only take chips from the people at your table and all tables are run with the same number of seats on each day... So, there is no real advantage to what day you play! Or is there?

What"s your thoughts?
Would you prefer to play in the small field or the big field?

Select the day with the weaker field if you can work that out.

Will one day be loaded with internet qualifiers?
Will one day have more purely recreational players?

If this cannot be determined then I would pick the larger field as this will likely have a wider distribution of stack sizes at the end of play, as people (more) look to build stacks. At the margin less tight play and hence the chance to be a chip leader.

DTD Deepstack for me is always a Day 1b, as you cannot re-enter after you bust this day so you would think that people are likely to be more cautious in certain situations.

I usually pick the last of the Day 1"s. It makes it easier/cheeper for travel and expenses....
If I make it to Day 2 I don"t have spare days inbetween.

Working on Saturdays also make the likes of WCOAP Main Event that runs Saturday/Sunday Day 1"s an easy choice!!

However, this time round I have managed to get time off for the Goliath, which I"m playing Day 1c (Friday). Providing I don"t get lucky for over two days in a row I will then be at DTD on Sunday.

I would have loved to play the Goliath but having committing to the specialist events it would have meant a lot of jumping around if I made day 2 or the final, just so glad to sticking with the WCOAP :) , shame I miss out on a big game as well as my daughters birthday once again, shes two and this is the 2nd time WCOAP has taken first place, at least she gets a cool present in my absence ;)
