Award 3 - APAT Player Of The Year
« on: December 19, 2011, 16:09:42 PM »
The nominations for the 2011 APAT Player Of The Year are as follows.  The award winner and voting totals for each nominee will be announced in this thread on December 30th.  Each member may only cast one vote.

Dave Garden

Dave Garden enjoyed a great summer of poker in 2011.  It all started in July when he entered the £100 MegaStack event at the Circus Casino in Blackpool, beating 90 runners to take the £4.8k first prize.  He followed this up in early August by beating a field of 86 runners to take the £30k first prize at the £1k Palm Beach Big Game.   Dave then went on to win the WCOAP main event in late August, beating 405 runners to the £12k first prize.

Paul McGuinness

Paul McGuinness had a fantastic second half of 2011 also.  At the World Championship of Amateur Poker, Paul captained the Welsh team to their second World Amateur Team Championship title.  Despite celebrations that went on long into the night, Paul returned to Dusk Till Dawn the following day and won the individual HORSE Championship at the WCOAP; an amazing feat which leaves Paul as the only holder of three WCOAP Gold Medals.  To top his year off, Paul went to Las Vegas for the APAT North American Amateur Poker Championship and recorded two 1sts and a 2nd in the Caesar Palace noon tournaments in five days.

Rob Swindells

Rob has had a great season and with a couple of events remaining, he is just 2 points off the lead in the APAT Season 5 Rankings.  Rob has scored a number of his ranking points online, where he has won the Scottish Online title in addition to the World Online PLO title.  In additon, using an added value seat won through APAT, Rob final tabled the Edinburgh leg of the UKIPT, finishing 8th for £6,300.  Rob also put on a sterling individual performance helping the Gambling Network Forum; which he captained, to the United Kingdom Team Championship in October.

Tod Wood

With one month left in the season, Tod leads the APAT Season 5 Rankings.  Tod won the main event of the WCOAP Online festival in September.  Earlier in the season he final tabled the English Amateur Championship, looking to defend the title he won the previous year.  His sixth place finish on that occasion equals the best attempt for a defending Champion at retaining a title.  Tod travelled to America as part of the APAT party playing the North American Amateur Poker Championship, where he finished a very credible 5th.  Tod is also a member of the West Midlands Poker Club who won Division 1 of the APAT National Online League.
