A friend has asked if i"d like to do a small around the world trip probably between two and three months, i was just wondering who on here has travelled a lot? how many different countries is it worth seeing in that amount of time and which places would you prioritise to see??
I would not say I have travelled a lot, but a bit.
I think it depends on you, what you want. I by example would not do to many countries when having 3 month and would rather focus on one or two, because I rather like to get to know as much about those instead of rushing through a lot in a short time.
My dream where I never was, was doing Alaska by car, starting in Anchorage and then going all way down to Canada. Would take about 4 month.
It as well depends what you expect from a holiday, like more beach or more culture. I certainly loved when I was in Isla Margarita (Venezuela) but it was more a lazy thing, beach, jeep tours, mangove forrest trips things like this. But if you want Caribbean I can only recommend it, it is not so expensive there then the rest, and you can always do helicopter daytrips to other caribbean islands
A country I like, not have seen so much of it though due to size is Russia, St. Petersburg and the area around it is great, but it is defo more a culture thing, museum, castles, history, ballet and such. although I think it has changed quite a lot since i been there 25 years ago.
I would not recommend Greece at the moment, as they not very welcoming to foreigners at the moment :-)
You certainly could spend a few month in Italy, the toscany is great, i am personally not a big fan of venice even though most seem to like it, Sicily and Sardinia are nice, so is the Emilia Romana
Even though I was a lot in Italy, I prefer the former Jugoslavia, so you as well could do a Balkan trip, the nature there is much wilder then Italy, rougher. And it is less touristy there, the chance to see dolphins close to the beach is much higher then in Italy, just be careful and jump not in fully dressed when you see them cause of the excitment to see them. You might ruin your best pair of shoes
Or you do an Alp country tour (Swiss, Germany and Austria), I not know much bout the Swiss but well obviously a lot about germany, and due to living close to Austria and being a fan of Austria a lot bout there as well, so should you plan something there I certainly can give you tips.
But yes first I think you should just sit down and think about what you want, like lazy, or culture, or nature, or just lot of entertainment (like disco, poker whatever), or even somthing with classes (like painting, pottering or such, then i would recommend the toscany, some parts germany or france, there are really cool porcellan painting classes in france by example)
