PAI GOW - A tough spot?
« on: November 05, 2013, 09:55:05 AM »
As I am quite inexperienced at this game I have been working on my tactic"s as I will be on the tables with some great players in Vegas later this week. This is a spot that may well come up.

Dealt Ad, Ah, 6s, 6c, 2s, 2h, 8c

You are playing at The Quad on a table with Stu Ward, Ger Smyth, Paulie and Rich Baker.

The dealer is a cute little blonde girl and the waitress has just arrived and asked drinks anybody.

What is the correct play? What other important information should be considered?

Still trying to think of something amusing to write in this bit.

Ask the waitress for beers.

Then make sure you have the Ace of Diamonds as well (as the picture on here has disappeared).

Oh, and always with three pair - highest pair is the two card hand.

AA22 at the back, 66 up top. High five as you scoop, about PAI GOW loudly and get another beer in.

Ps. Dealer very unlikely to be a pretty blonde, more likely a Chinese battle axe who hates the world abd especially you.

Why would you not go 6622 with AA up top?

You are gtd to win one that way and have a good chance of the other. Pro"s - pft

House way says that if the dealer has 3 pairs - his highest pair HAS to go up top.

We have, sadly, to counter this. AA up top all the time.

Are the cards our most important decision here though, there is metagame to consider. Stu for the purposes of this discussion the dealer is a pretty blonde who is curving in all the right places, she appear to like the group also. In this game you must remember that unlikely situations are not impossible and you should plan for such circumstances. How does this information affect our decision making process?

As it seems we are going to order beers what should be order and should limes be involved? How much are we going to tip?

Cards should have some priority as the basic rules of Pai Gow stipulate playing for as long as possible for as little as possible whilst drinking as free as possible.

So....AA up top is always the right answer as we are GUARAN_DAMN_TEED a push at minimum so we continue to play for free and we have a decent chance at a profit.

Beers should be ordered by personal preference in clockwise order from Seat 1.

Limes should not be involved.

Tip for beers should be $1 per drink although the "tip high early for quicker service rule" applies if we are just starting off.

Tip for dealer...at your discretion but we need her on our good side for when we feck up a hand. She can"t stay around because she likes us, she"ll get moved every 45 minutes or so...what you can arrange on for after-shift is up to you.

If the dealer is a little cute blonde....that"s a bonus.
