last 3 weeks i"ve made the final table of my local £10 rebuy tourney and 3 times i"ve burst on the bubble or 1 off - and 3 times i was seated in seat 2 when the final table starts (in the BB)
so this week i made the final but the play was going on forever before it came to the final 9 and blinds where at 1k/2k at 12 handed - usually that kicks in 1 or 2 levels into the final table and most where sitting tight
the final table usually last for 2hours or so and it was already 2am (8pm start) so come the start and a nice round £1500 jackpot (£680 for 1st down to £180 for 4th), stacks average 20k and no-one had more than 35k, i suggested, on a whim and a joke as a passing comment, that as its getting late, we should all take £100 now and then its a shootout for the final £500 - the whole instantly agreed
got down to 4 handed and prize pool is now £900 left and all 4 players had a stack of around 70k (250k total chips in play) someone suggested how about we now take £200 each and shootout for the final £100 - i wasnt really happy with this as the diff between 1st and 2nd was only £100 an 20-30% of that was agreed to leave a tip to the delaers/waiting staff, so the difference between 1st and 2nd was only really 200 to 270/280
i was gonna suggest £150 each and we play for the extra 300 but i agreed to the payout as everyone was happy to go with my 1st idea of a chop
anywho i got heads up - but unfortunetly my opponent put the other 2 players out at the same so his stack went up to 200k and i had 50k *gulp*
never a fan of heads up but decided that if it limped and i hit a flop, im all in and try to get the chips that way - but my oppo was just bleeding off chips waiting for the big hand and it eventually came went i got up to 100k to his 150k
blinds at 3k/6k i raised from SB with A10s to 20k - he went all in and i cant see how i could fold a strong ace, was about to but i decided to call - opp had AK suited and it held
still nice £180 profit
